Nice place, great meal, very light and airy atmosphere. Friendly staff, a slight mixup meant they brought us a slate with "happy birthday" in sweet sauce on it, but we were just there for a good meal! Well priced, good food, great service. Not sure if they still serve it, but the "tea, toast, etc." ice cream desert dish was really interesting, and very fun!

BEGINNING NEW JOBS recently has meant that Sarah and I are in close enough proximity to meet for lunch, which usually ends up being around Festival Square, at the West End of Princes Street.  This has drawn my attention to One Square, which is located within the Sheraton hotel, an etsablishment of which I've heard numerous positive things.

We visited one square for one of their themed afternoon teas and could not fault a thing. We were well looked after by staff and nothing was too much trouble. The afternoon tea was fantastic. The sandwiches fresh and with lovely fillings. There was plenty of scones in different flavours and far too many cakes. If unlike us you can't finish it they'll box up what's left for you to enjoy at home. During Sunday lunch they also have a fab jazz swing band playing who are fantastic! Definitely stop by for at least a drink.

One Square in Edinburgh has fabulous interior and amazing food.

Inside it is very modern with lots of windows and amazing glass circle lights in different colours. The staff are always friendly and service is normally efficient. If you are out for a special occasion I definitely would recommend the champagne afternoon tea.

You are served a selection of sandwiches including smoked salmon, roast ham and chicken foaccia. This is then followed by fruit scones with whipped cream and amazing strawberry jam – the scones were the highlight of the meal. Then you are also given a selection of pastries and cakes to choose from. All topped off with some amazing champagne it really was a lovely afternoon spent in One Square.

It’s not the cheapest place in Edinburgh to have afternoon tea but it is definitely worth a visit.

It's not every day you get to sample a six course vegetarian tasting menu, well not for me anyway. New Chef, Craig Hart, though was keen to showcase his talents with a special menu paired with the perfect tipples from the One Sq bar, which was well stocked with Gin, Cider, Wine and Cocktails.

The menu was inventive and seasonal, starting with a Beetroot and Asparagus Terrine. Chef uses Agar Agar to set his jellies, brilliant for veggies, and it all tasted wonderful served with crispy Beetroots too. The courses went on through mini chickpea burgers in elegant buns to a less successful dish for me of Tempeh. It was deep fried and a bit soggy. Chef was experimenting though, and I suppose the idea of a tasting menu is to sample LOTS and not necessarily be wow-ed by everything. Five out of six ain't bad though is it?

Chef has an eye for detail and a palette to die for, the Stilton Tart was so balanced and sharp. Each drink complimented the dish well, although I wouldn't have cider personally. After soooooo much inventive and innovative vegetarian delights we had a dessert cocktail, which was just a touch too sweet for me. Give me the wonderful Gin Cocktail the Bar Manager swilled down my throat earlier in the evening again anytime.

One Sq is a plush setting, and the creations whirling out the kitchen more than match. And the drinks, perfectly matched. Chef Craig Hart and the team at One Sq are doing something a little different, which I'd gladly have again and again... Absolutely divine for veggies, I've heard they even do great stuff for meat eaters! I'd say, don't tell them, they wouldn't miss the meat with these veggie wonders.

One Sq invited me to enjoy this tasting menu along with other Edinburgh Total Food Geeks, but didn't ask me to write a review... I'd have gladly paid for it and still said the same things about it...

What a lovely spot for lunch or an evening meal. The bar is gaining a reputation for its extensive selection of gins, and rightly so - there are 52 to choose from. They also do a brilliant gin tasting deal as well where you can try different ones with matching tonics for £18.

Once seated in the dining room which has a wide-screen view of Edinburgh castle and great for people watching in Festival Square, we set about making selections from the extensive all-day menu. There are some exciting Scottish inspired modern dishes so making a decision is that bit trickier. I opted for the pan fried crab cake with avocado purée, spicy pepper dressing & cashew nuts which was really tasty. It's a huge crab cake stuffed full with crabmeat. My friend had the breakfast style dish of Macsween haggis (£9), with woodland mushrooms & a runny sunshine-yolked duck egg. Others around the table went for the Salmon fish cakes, spinach, soft poached egg & grain mustard sauce (14) and the seriously huge Burger which caused some severe food envy!

With slick but equally friendly service, flexible dining and such carefully presented food, One Square really is worth a visit. We are going to head back on an evening soon to try the wonderful sounding dishes including Lamb Wellington, with spiced carrot purée and burnt leeks (£19) and Highland venison with kale, parsnip, cocoa nibs and damsons (£23) and the Scottish langoustines, grilled with garlic butter (22) Yum!

Well worth a visit. ----------‐--------------------------- Brilliant tasting menu made from Scottish produce and accompanied with a matched Scottish drinks package. Food was well presented and full of flavour. Lovely friendly knowledgeable staff. I would strongly recommend and definitely will go back.

On Easter Monday, I am having 4 course lunch in here. It was so nice. All staffs were also very good. I wrote the comments very late. On 10th May, I was invited by my wife for my birthday dinner in this restaurant. All staffs were very kind. Here was very comfortable restaurant. Ordered meals were also very good. At last, they prepared the complimentary happy birthday plate for me. It was so nice. Looking forward to visiting again our wedding anniversary! Thank you!

Lovely Sunday lunch with good selection of food from the various self-service buffet stations. Service was friendly and unobtrusive. Food was good quality with plentiful options for each course. A bit of a queue to get in, although this appeared to be down to a private event in one of the other conference rooms which seemed to delay opening.

I don’t really like afternoon tea so thought we would try out the new, champagne lunch. Two options, a glass of champagne or a half bottle. First served a fruit, pastry and granola platter, then a choice of main. I had eggs florentine which were the best I’ve had. We went for the one glass of champagne option which was £25 per head for the champagne, platter and main. Excellent value will for what you got, will definitely go back. Staff very attentive, friendly and warm.

The restaurant is very good. I had a Sunday lunch and there was a String quartet Viper Swing. The food is on buffet, but so delicious and good variety of choices. The stafs is so good like invisible, but everwhere you need them with a smile. If you want to feel different for your Sunday lunch, come here, pleasure will be all yours.

Great place for a relaxed drink and a light meal. The decor of the place and modern and well lit compared to many hotel bars, and the staff is superb, very observant and professional! For food we had the vagan mezze board and the smoked salmon. The food was very good and really tasty. Overall a good choice.

GREAT DESSERTS AND SERVICE Came here two nights in a row in the evening at around 8pm. There's quite a relaxed vibe in this place as we just walked in and were casually able to take a seat. The waiter was a really nice guy and was quick with taking our order and serving food. Not sure if they change up the menu, but the desserts we got were really good. We got the apple tart which was nice. It had a great balance of flavours as the sweetness was balanced with the taste of the apple. Then we got the chocolate pistachio pot dessert which was pretty good. This one definitely needs to be shared because there is so much sugary goodness in this dish from the ice cream, to the cream, to the chocolate within the pot. The pistachios were a nice touch as they gave the dish some crunch. For desserts from a hotel restaurant on the weekday, they were pretty good.

A few items that we wanted on the menu was not available such as t bone, and banana split for dessert. Starters to main were cooked and tasted almost perfect. Drinks are good. Desserts were not impressive.

Easily the best place in Edinburgh for drinking - mainly because of the staff! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! I was speaking to Mike (the bar manager) about possibly doing a distillery tour etc and he was kind enough to take me through some whiskys and explain which drinks would naturally follow on from the previous! It was fantastic and he has turned me on to an excellent bottle that I'm really enjoying right now (Glen Scotia). Then came the real magic! The next night I came back to the bar with my wife and some friends and Mike made us a genuinely INCREBILE Rum based old fashioned drinks! My wife doesn't even like old fashoineds but she loved it. He made a selection of 4 different flavours. Highly highly recommend that you speak to him and let him know which flavours you like and no doubt he will concoct a beautiful drink for you. 5* experience - genuinely made my time in Edinburgh!

If you visit Edinburgh, for whatever reason (we visited for the 2017 Tattoo and Fringe), then this has to be one of the places you should consider popping into for a meal. Friendly staff, pleasant environment, excellent food and a good choice of drinks. I'm sure we will revisit some time in the not too distant future.

One of the best tasting experiences I've had! We learned all about how the botanicals that go into making each type if gin and how quinine is necessary to "wake up" the gin. You are not going in for shots of gin. This is an education on how to make gin drinks that are amazing! And at the end, you get to bottle and wax seal your very own bottle of gin! I HIGHLY recommend One Square!

The hotel bar at One Square has a great selection of drinks and really high quality bar food and coffee, so much better than battling your way into a sweaty pub or chain coffee shop on the street.
