restaurant in the sky, a dirty fry-up would certainly be up there.  Not just because I like the taste, but it. reminds me of being 10 years old and rising ridiculously early on a Sunday. morning to prepare breakfast for my family. A strong coffee alongside is, of. course, mandatory. The Haven happens to be five minutes from my flat and is my

Been here twice, love the coffee which is our local artisian roast. I've had a toasted ciabatta with salad. Cakes and traybakes are a recommendation as well as the cooked breakfasts! Its a shame that's its not closer as I would be here more often!

The best Scottish breakfast in Edinburgh. We've been regulars at the haven for a couple of years now, it has everything you want from a great cafe and breakfast spot. The welcome is always warm and friendly, the decor is eclectec and homely with local artwork adordning the walls. The menu is compact, topped up with daily specials and an array of fresh, homemade cakes and scones (amazing, huge scones!).

The full Scottish breakfast is great value, with excellent quality ingredients and very generous portions. Special mention goes out to the pancakes and the Artisan Roast coffee (always a winner!).

The only downside is when it's too busy to get a table - but you can get takeaway and toddle off to Ndewhaven harbour!

We found this lovely place because a closed friend of us recommended it and gave us a voucher gift to try it. We'll come back for sure as both the attention and food were amazing. Such a picturesque place, and the drawing in the women's toilet just amazed me! Good place to have a soft lunch with friends with your kids, have a coffee reading a book with your dog. We'll try soon the breakfast!

We found this place wandering down the road through the fog and it was just meant to be. The atmosphere was so cozy and welcoming. The eclectic collection of decor and dishes made it feel so magical. The staff were so friendly and polite and made excellent coffee. I had the short bread and it was to die for! My friend had a breakfast roll and she thoroughly enjoyed it too. Highly recommended stopping by here for a sit down!

I've been coming to the Haven for years, although I wouldn't call myself a regular. I'm an irregular. Another glowing review of this wee cafe feels a bit redundant however it deserves the praise. Most of all, I trust Haven for consistent and quality service. Some tips; - The menu isn't huge but they're happy for you to be pick'n'mix from the big breakfasts and there are lots of options. - I'd go for the pancakes anyway (you tend to get two) - Look in the case dessert case by the till before sitting down as you may want to adjust your order to leave room for some of it! (Scrambled eggs on toast followed by cake is perfectly acceptable) - The coffee is at least as good as some of the roasters up towards Victoria Park/Trinity - It gets busy, but even one table finishing up opens up a lot more space. - Dogs are sometimes brought in I also sometimes use Haven as food on the go. For a takeaway, don't wait, walk up to the counter and when staff are ready, order. The catch? If you have to queue you'll also have to pay attention that you're not blocking egress from the counter area. My takeaway default is sausage roll (sausages in a roll) which you can safely eat and walk at the same time. Lastly, if you walk up the hill around the side and towards the Sculpture Workshop be aware the metal plates in the pavement there get very slippery in wet weather. [August 2022 update - still great] [July 2023 update - now with trams and still great]

Tastiest fruit scones in Edinburgh. They're brought straight from the oven and are quite yummy. Much larger than typical Scones, so they're quite filling, and the price for a Latte and scone is very reasonable at £6 27. The servers are all very pleasant and friendly. The cafe is quite eclectic and has a very homey feel and the Tram stops quite close or a 16 bus stops just a little farther away. If you're near Newhaven and ready for a cuppa, this place is perfect.

The Haven is a gorgeous place. We went in for a hot drink but couldn't resist the menu. The Havenette was huge and delicious. The staff have made this a really welcoming cafe. I'll be back and recommending it to all who will listen.

What a lovely place! The staff were really welcoming and the pancakes were delicious. You got a generous little jug of maple syrup and the berries were baked in as well as being served on the side, which I loved. Quality, local, friendly place.

Lovely and cosy little place. Staff was friendly and food was tasty. Ordered brunch and a slice of cake, which were very nice. We asked for tea for two to be served in one pot and they were very obliging. I'll be coming back.

I can see why they named this place The Haven as it is literally that, with a warm, cosy, and welcoming atmosphere, it felt like a home from home. Even with my young 10-month-old, I felt I could relax to the light music with tunes from Fleetwood Mac and classic David Bowie playing. I happily enjoyed a mug of tea with a bacon and egg ciabatta whilst my wee man had baked beans and toast taking in the decor of the room. My only question is, do you do loyalty cards? As I'll definitely be back! 🤣
