The restaurant itself is tiny and very cosy, and the staff were very welcoming.

The food was amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed everything that we ordered. The stand out dish was, of course, the Kilted Lobster itself.

If we lived closer we would certainly be going here more regularly.

This is a very small restaurant serving very big flavours. All four members of our party were blown away by the food. Clearly the chef is the star, with the waiting staff trying to keep up the standard front of house. This isn’t a complete success, but service was okay. Prices are high, but worth it. Not sure I’d feel as comfortable if the place were full.

We spent the weekend in Edinburgh for the Fringe Festival and we managed to get a table between two events. We were a bit on the rush but we could enjoy very much our dinner thanks to the great service and super timing of the courses. The lobster is definitely worthy of special mention!

Kilted Lobster is a cute little place on St Stephen Street in Stockbridge, The décor and menu embraces the sea theme but there are plenty of non-seafood options for those in your party not up for it. We were seated by the window and handed some menus. Whilst we were perusing I noticed a note on the table about social enterprise, explaining that the restaurant closes to the public on a Tuesday in order to take referrals from charities of those who are facing food poverty or isolation issues. I knew then I had made right decision to support this place.

Situated in the heart of Stockbridge The Kilted Lobster opened just less than a month ago on St. Stephen Street. Once you enter you feel like in a seaside restaurant. The decor is fresh, with blue tables and seafood inspired paintings on the walls. You instantly loose a sense of time when you enter. The restaurant is quite small with couple of tables and a bar. It's very cosy.

We started with different fresh juices served in small glasses - four on one stand. I tried the orange one and a pear one which were both delicious! This was followed by 3 different seafood amuse brouche which were lovely! They came served on a mirror like plate which made them look even more appealing. We moved on to a starter which was a woodland pigeon breast, fruit dumpling, stornoway black pudding covered with chorizo crumbles and accompanied by merlot sirup. We had red wine to go with it which was a great touch. The starter was served on a wooden tray which was actually a sliced segment of a tree trunk. This is a great idea and went very well with the pigeon dish. But to come back to the food, the pigeon was lovely! I think this was my first time having it and I loved the taste and the texture. It tasted like something between a liver and a game dish. I liked the black pudding combo which enhanced the taste of pigeon even more. For the main course we had a seafood platter. It contained calamari which were delicious, crispy and very fresh. We had west coast langoustine, cod fillet and mussel veloute. All the seafood was very fresh since Colin (the owner and head chef) uses only the best Scottish ingredients. It was all very tasty and especially the cod fillet was full of flavour and just melting in my mouth. I was already full after this but I can't say no to a dessert! A dessert platter arrived in front of me containing toffee apple panacotta, jura soaked clootie dumpling and hand made petit four. Again served on a mirror plate, the toffee apple panacotta was my all times favourite!

Overall, this was an amazing dinner that covered all different flavours. The Kilted Lobster changes its menu according to seasonality. However, they're not only serving seafood. They're also trying to offer different kinds of meats. Hence, the pigeon starter that we had. They're also giving people vegetarian options if one of your party doesn't fancy meat or seafood. So everyone can find something he likes on the menu. The Kilted Lobster is a very cute little restaurant with friendly and relaxing atmosphere. If you're looking to have a meal somewhere where you want to loose a sense of time and feel like in a different world you should definitely try The Kilted Lobster. I can highly recommend this new hidden gem!

Five course tasting menu with matching wine was fantastic as we love fish and wine, with bramble gin along with the dessert. Staff announced each course and served promptly. Enjoyed the night.

Amazing food with great service. They have great pork, salmon and of course the lobster. And the price is much cheaper than I expected. 😉

Absolutely fantastic in all areas! Fully recommend this place especially after finding out what they do for the local community. The surprise canapés were insane and the starters were delicious. Our lobster main was delectable and my girlfriend wishes she hadn't gone for the 1/2 choice (she stole mine anyway!). The wine recommendation was on top form and the staff were helpful and friendly. My bank account is sad but I am not. Eat here asap!

A nice cozy little restaurant. Went for dinner last night and it's so so satisfying. The seafood canapes was on the house and it's so good that increased our expectation on their mains. And it didn't fail us. We had a steamed mussels with citrus chimichurri. The citrus gave a hint of refreshing and love the herby of the chimichurri. His main was monk fish with sour-ish salad and sweet pancake on the side. Mine was crab risotto with trout fillet on top and citrus buttery clams and cockles on the side. The combination was so good and flavorful and surprisingly good.

We had an amazing meal here. It's not the cheapest but you pay for great quality and great execution of dishes. The lobster was perfectly cooked, the sea trout delicious and the cheese board well put together. The service was attentive and friendly and we would definitely go back for a special occasion!

Excellent meal and service for a party of eight including two children of nine and four. The kids were accommodated with small portions from the main menu ( mussels ) plus an off menu main of fish and chips....Great food, excellent service, decent prices. But....do book, it's a small place and very popular

Atmosphere *****, small but they have have utilised the space well to ensure groups and couples enjoy their meal. Food hygiene *****, cutlery and glasses were polished showing that someone had gone through that extra effort to not only present a clean feel, but it was just genuinely clean. Food quality *****, had the half Kilted Lobster and my wife the bream, I can't begin to explain how amazing the food is... both meals were so fresh you could taste and feel it. Also had the best oysters here. Customer service *****, I couldn t have asked for anything else
