Been there often and always enjoyed it. it's not The Ritz it's a pub with good food, friendly staff and a chef who understands food in tolerances. Nice walks around there and the wonderful Hever Castle nearby.
Fabulous food, great wine list and really friendly staff. Will definitely be visiting again. Meals for kids under 7 free before 7pm so will take the grandchildren too!

Ate at the pub last night with my husband. Everything was perfect! Food was wonderful, service was great...Colin (the Manager) even gave us a lift back to Hever Castle where we were staying as we couldn’t get a cab! Loved the locally sourced food...recommend the truffle fries! We loved the local gin Greensand Ridge so much we bought a bottle today. Will definitely be returning to The Wheatsheaf!
Delicious lunch outside in the garden today. 3 Mixed Roasts and a Mushroom Risotto, ice cream desserts and a beautiful Orange Panna Cotta which i recommend. Friendly staff, excellent service, we will definitely be back! Thank you.
Very impressed with this place. The warm sunny day helped, sitting in the garden under an umbrella.
The ale is kept perfectly and the food delicious, even with my plant based requirements! Very happy, we definitely will be back. Well done with the plant based dairy free choices. 😎
Me & my partner visited there on Sunday after a day trip to Sissinghurst Castle on our way home.
We were both impressed by the building itself, the service was really friendly by the waitress. The food were really well prepared and beautiful presented.
Definitely will come back again!
We keep thinking of something to complain about, but cannot think of anything. Were seated outside with drinks until time to have starter. Meal was delicious, lovely attentative (cheeky) waiter, nice surroundings and value for money. We will be back.
Amazing food, amazing service and an amazing place. Absolutely loved it!
Great food, great location, lovely and accompanying staff! Thank you for a perfect Sunday
Visited this darling pub a few weeks ago with my husband and some friends. Can't say enough about how well we were treated! We were seated in a cozy area near a fireplace when the chef came over and went the extra mile to make us feel welcome. Weary traveler's from all over the world, I urge you to stop here. It's wonderful! Thanks to the crew at Wheatsheaf for making us Americans feel special!!!
I can see why others are giving 4 likely for the price compared to other establishments in the area. I may be biased as a Londoner but the quality of food is definitely worth the price!
The pub is wonderful and well decorated and maintained with great history. The staff were lovely, warm and attentive and the food was amazing!
We can't recommend this pub enough, everything we ate was really delicious and we had a lot (pictures as evidence) so treat yourself and visit here!
We came here for coffee a few weeks ago, and I spotted the menu. Today we came for lunch. Delicious food.
The pub is old, very pretty, with flowers in the garden, and on the tables. A good place to bring visitors to show them old England.
We ordered a burger, a halloumi burger and the fish and chips. The service was friendly and efficient. The food was really nice, and more than we could eat. It was slightly pricey compared to other places, but given the setting I felt it was worth the price.
I had the malteser cheesecake, which was perfect. Am tempted to return often, just for dessert and coffee (not sure if that’s allowed).
Everything seemed clean, including the washrooms. Definitely worth a visit.
We had a fabulous dinner. The calamari was simply delicious. We also had the Woodland Mushroom Tagliatelle and the Beef Ragu. Our waitress was very friendly. We highly recommend The Wheatsheaf.
Really lovely evening meal in their peaceful garden. We hadn't booked a table and were initially told we may not be able to eat here as a huge walk in just turned up. We had a drink and a chat and by this time it had quietened down so they were able to serve us. I had gluten free fish and chips and as the picture shows it was delicious. The fish was so fresh. I'd definitely return!
What an absolutely fabulous afternoon we spent at Hever Castle. We loved the interior of the castle, listening to the audio guide as we walked around the rooms. And what a surprise when we walked around the extensive gardens....probably one of the best that I have seen when visiting stately homes. The staff were all very pleasant too...all in all, it was a thoroughly enjoyable visit.
4 adults in our group and even with the mix of dietary requirements ( vegan , vegetarian , nut allergy ) we all managed to choose starters and main courses with no problems , I had tempura king prawns which were delicious followed by a creamy mushroom tagliatelle also lovely, final option was a malteaser cheesecake which was way too moreish! Service was friendly and efficient, and we were warm and private in our group. We paid around £50 to £60 each which included a bottle of wine between us. I thoroughly recommend you give it a try if you're in the area.
Great staff and delicious roast meal options. Perfect spot on a sunny afternoon
Lovely place! The food is a bit pricey but it's worth it, delicious and big portions. The staff were all really friendly and nice. Cozy and nicely decorated with a large area outside to enjoy in the sun.
My family and I would just like to send you an immense thank you, and to the chefs and staff at the Wheatsheaf. We were 50 guests.
And the Buffet was amazing!! A wonderful selection of delicious dishes, beautifully presented, fresh and tasty! The staff were all lovely!
Stumbled across this place after an afternoon at Hever Castle and we were not disappointed! Fantastic service and food. Got a few Sunday roasts (veg, pork and chicken) along with a number of starters — compliments to the chef. Super helpful and knowledgeable waitstaff as well. We will definitely be back!
