Me and Jean ordered the £25 deal on two steak meals and a bottle of wine. The steak looked perfectly cooked but on cutting in to it was almost raw. HOWEVER!
It was melt in the mouth and we agreed that it was one of the best steaks we had eaten. The staff were lovely and left us alone to dine.
We live 128 miles away and felt lucky to find such a friendly pub.
Don't drive and live in Soton but when I get the chance I go. love the place. Should be my local! Quality Food. Quality beer. Amazingly good staff! Did I mention I love the place!
Our local pub with great outdoor space, great food and atmosphere. We regularly eat at the Cricketers and are yet to be disappointed. Very good food.

Very friendly pub all that is missing is a small play park or swings for kids. Staff are totally friendly which makes a family vist a lot easier.
Fantastic food for a Pub, In fact, best food i've had from a restaurant in a long time. Well priced & worth every penny.
Restaurant & Bar staff were very friendly & made sure we were very well looked after.

Went there last night with two old friends.
The place was packed.
Fortunately, my friends had prebooked.
We were quickly shown to our table & our drinks order taken.
Upon our drinks being served, We were then asked for our food order.
We all chose differently and there weren't any things on the menu out of stock.
The meals quickly arrived and we proceeded to enjoy our evening, being asked for drink refills as necessary.
We were served by Lou.

Few comments,
Massive selection of ciders, learnt a dry cider is opposite to a sweet one, so that was nice to figure out what to ask for in future.
Few minor niggles...
mind the step rather than mind your head or both 😂 if ya tall watch out by the bar.
Smoking not allowed on the patio in the rear not enforced, not a major issue.
Few nice things:
Beer garden is great, although think the sun is better at the front and it's a quiet road so that's nice.
Plenty of parking too.
If you order at the table we found we had to chase our order on this particular evening because they'd been chaotic, but the bar was empty at the time, so think it was more mental exhaustion on their part, rather than busy at the time. So if you're waiting a while, feel free to go up and give a nudge, they were very polite.
Overall great pub and have been back already. Have yet to try the food, although it looked decent.

It's so easy these days for all pubs to fall into mediocrity when it comes to service, cleanliness, food etc. but this place is lovely. I only wish they hadn't seated us in such a dark corner in the middle of the day though when there were plenty of free tables elsewhere, but we didn't make any fuss about it.
Really nice food especially for a chain pub. The live music can be quite loud if you're in the restaurant but it always creates a great atmosphere. Dog friendly inside and out and covered outdoor area.
Busy busy busy pub ... at least on a Friday evening. Despite pitching up "on spec" without a booking, the friendly unruffled staff made space for us and served up 3 delicious 2-course meals for less than £20 per head. Well done guys & girls for looking after us so nicely despite clearly having to run quite hard just to keep up.
I ordered risotto, and what arrived was nothing like it. It was more like soup with a baked onion on top. It looked and tasted awful. Sorry, I should have taken a photo. It was awful. I went for pie and mash which was very nice. I didn't have to pay for that!
Been to this pub a few times, mainly because the food is very good. There is also a reasonable selection of beers.
Nice garden at the rear for those warm sunny days and generally a good atmosphere.
Fopd was fantastic quality. But sadly a poor dessert menu. No chocolate fudge cake and no vanilla ice cream. Very basic desserts not available just overly complicated ones. Kinda ruind the ending of a perfect meal
Just had a late lunchlet here in the October sunshine. Marvellous starter and side salad. Quick, friendly service by Lou, who clearly had an excellent work ethic at quiet moments making sure the pub looked as good as it could. Despite the lovely sunshine outside there was a crackler of a fire going and being regularly attended and the gents' was as clean as could be. Broad, explorative menu too. Good job Cricketers.
I didn't eat here. The venue is lovely, welcoming and homely. My only criticism is the range of hot drinks isn't great. I couldn't get a chai latte, or a mocha, or herbal/fruit tea.
However, I would go again

Came in here the other day to look at the new menu, was greeted by the lovely Debbie and met the new manager. Food and service was amazing pleasant staff, highly recommend.
Service in the restaurant was great. We were served by a new lady who was very attentive, food was great. Only issue was paying at the end, we had to go to the bar to pay and it took ages to be served.
