Came here mid week for lunch with my husband, very easy to find and the service was brilliant. The menu and specials were explained well and really good prices. We ordered the hot and cold platters at £15 each, the lady who served us said it was a good portion as we were debating whether to get starters/nibbles, and she wasn’t wrong! The platters were huge but very high quality, drink choices were good as well and we even made room for dessert Highly recommend this restaurant! And the music choices were good as well

Came here for a meal with my boyfriend, food was absolutely amazing and unlike anything else on the island. Menu is extensive and the chef (Paige) is extremely flexible and accommodating. The prawn platter is to die for and we will definitely be back! :)

fantastic lunch of rock oysters, grilled oysters, dressed crab, and scallops with chorizo. all very fairly priced. cherry on the top: welcoming service from the moment we walked through the door to when we left as two full and happy bellies!

We’ve a great seafood experience here. Oysters are fresh and creamy, cooked dishes are nicely done.

We hadn't booked but the lovely young owner said we could come back at 3pm. Which we did and we were the only ones there which was lovely. We all had the hot seafood platter which at £15 a plate was a bargain. It was absolutely delicious and 2 of us had grilled oysters for the first time and they were scrumptious. I don't know the owners name but she was lovely, friendly and very welcoming. Definitely would recommend but make sure you book unless you don't mind eating bit later. I think we picked the right time as it was only us. Good music choice too. We also had a desert and the home made lemon cheese cake was very nice. Will definitely try and go back, even if its for a takeaway. Thank you Seafood at Dawn. Xxx

Excellent meal today at Seafood at Dawn, served by the lovely Taylor and the owner Paige, very friendly service. I had half a portion of the linguine and the honey walnut tiger prawns. The food was delicious, thank you to Jayne and Debbie who prepared it for me and for catering to my dietary requirements.

Visited Seafood at Dawn today with the family, 6 of us and a child and dog. We sat outdoors because of the dog but it was a lovely day and it feels peaceful in the small front garden area. Staff were very friendly and service was great. Lots of choice with the seafood with both hot and cold options. I ordered garlic scallops followed by seafood linguine and was blow away, it was amazing, everyone loved it too. It’s now a day later and I can’t wait to get back!! Amazing place, worth a detour, i am lucky we have a holiday home opposite 😀

My new favourite place. We went for Sunday lunch, we ordered local oysters, never had better one before, i admit I'm not an oyster expert, and i guess the season is really important, but they were so tasty, not too much watery(i mean they are oysters) creamy, I was able to chew them. So good. We had mix prawns platter, another thumbs up, a must if you like prawns. Crab in the pot, I love crabs(sorry crabs, love on the table) and chorizo scallops. Small details, they serve the scallops with "the yellow stuff" which is in my opinion super tasty. Local beer,to wash it down "what else" would say George. Ah, yeah, last but not least, all run by 2 lovely girls, sorry we were too busy stuffing our faces with food I forgot to ask names. Super kind girls. RECOMMEND *****

Well like so many I read loads of reviews and have to say that those that gave it 5 Stars were not wrong. Seafood Platter was just lovely. First experience of Oysters and oh my it won't be the last. If you have the chance you need to go. If you don't have the chance then you need to book in advance and make it happen.

My husband and I regularly have lunch at Seafood at Dawn and it's always a delight. We went with 3 friends to Paige and team's special Tapas and Oyster evening on Saturday 22nd July. Such a brilliant and atmospheric evening.....nice wine to accompany too. Week done to all involved.

An unpretentious cracking little restaurant that will just blow you away with the quality of its food. We started with scallops & chorizo and grilled oysters. Both dishes were served with lovely side salads packed with crunchy greens and sweet baby tomatoes in a honey & mustard dressing. It was my first taste of grilled oysters and what an introduction. Cooked to perfection with cheese and cream. The scallops were nicely seared with a spicy kick of chorizo. For mains I had homemade fish pie which was packed with sweet prawns and chunky white fish. The fish and prawns were again cooked to perfection with great texture. The good lady had the fish platter, an amazing array of seafood that filled the plate and our bellies. We both chose Mersea Island beers to accompany the meal. Well worth the trip to East Mersea

Fantastic seafood and service! The staff were knowledgeable and caring about dietary requirements (gluten and dairy free was no problem at all) and they were able to easily adapt most items on the menu, even going out of their way to make sure that a dessert option was available (we had pre warned of our dietary needs when booking). Dogs were welcome outside (although not in the restaurant itself) and, although facing the road, it was a pleasant and relaxing place to sit and enjoy the sunshine. We will definitely be back!.
