Nicest Indian food I have ever eaten. This is not a British curry shop it is the real deal!

Been to this place couple of times almost 5 years back. The food is quite good and not very expensive. One food still lingering in my memory from this place is their cashew pakoras very yummy and big portion.

Amazing onam sadhya. Was like visiting someone you know.. 4 pachadis 4 pickles 4 veggie sides 3 gravies and 3 payasams. Only grievance was went too late. Despite them being happy to serve takeaway closed Considering this was once a year.. Couldnt take it for my elderly FIL who cant really leave the house.

I had their special "Kizhi Parotta(beef)", which was too good. Parotta was like the ones which we get from Kerala and the beef was also nice. Service was a bit slow as we waited for a long for the food and there were fewer staff also. Recommended for their 'Kizhi Parotta'.

Can be crowded at certain times, would recommend booking a table ahead. Went as a family. Enjoyed the authentic Kerala food. We loved it, highly recommend this place for a South Indian meal. Food is value for money.

This was just a start, more to explore here. The chicken fry was superb in contrast to the prawns fry which dint tick the boxes. Looking forward to another visit for a full review

First time experience. 6 people. Reasonable price. Ordered kerala porotta, kerala style beef fry, kappa biriyani, mutton curry, chicken 65, chilly chicken, thattu dosa. Everything came late. Almost 45 mins wait. Water served in plastic disposable cups which made it hard to drink as it breaks easily with the grip especially with kids. Rating the food- best thing was kappa biriyani, porotta and beef fry. Average rating for chicken 65 and thattu dosa. Mutton curry and chilly chicken was below average as the spices in mutton curry were still raw and the consistency of chilly chicken was watery. The overall experience was ok i mean average because the first slot we ordered had different dishes and some were not available which was not informed when the order was taken. Black tea was not available but the normal tea was which sounded strange. Anyways got to experience Thattukada in East Ham.

poor service, but food was very nice, authentic Malayalam cuisine. The menu was old so price was not matching. Would certainly recommend!

"I recently had the pleasure of dining at തട്ടുകട in East Ham, and I can't stop raving about it! From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the impeccable service. The staff was not only attentive but also incredibly friendly, it was an absolute revelation! I can honestly say I've never tasted such delicious dishes before. Each bite was a burst of flavors that left my taste buds dancing with joy. The quality and quantity of the dishes were spot on, and I left with a completely satisfied appetite.i can't recommend this place enough. If you're in East Ham and looking for an unforgettable dining experience with top-notch food and service, this restaurant is a must-visit. I'll definitely be returning for more culinary delights!"

Update after today's visit (6 months after the initial review is separated at the bottom): A lot has changed, it seems a young energetic guy is at the forefront. The menus have also updated (the pics I attached are the old ones from the initial review). This guy is quite attentive and seems to handle a busy packed restaurant well. The menu is presented way better and we were able to customise the options (for example the parotta and appams which come as sets of 2..he said we can also order them as single pieces if we'd like, he's really good and explains everything nicely). The waiting times on the food is quite long...expect a 20 minute wait or even longer but still totally worth it! As for what I recommend...the Chicken Devilled, King Prawn Roast and Kerala Beef Roast (all of these are highly recommended). You need to pair those meats with some carbs so you should try these with Kerala Parotta (this will taste different to the Parottas you get from most Indian restaurants as those aren't done in the kerala style), Biriyani or Vella Appam...you actually want to try all 3 of these if possible so go with a few people so you can share. Unsure if it counts as a dessert but the milk Appam was sweet and delicious (my partner found it too sugary and a bit artificial in taste)...but I have no limits when it comes to sweetness in desserts so if you're like me then you'll like this...the milk we got wasn't sufficient so we asked for more and they brought it in a small tub (it's a type of sugary coconut milk with coconut pieces mixture)...to be honest that on its own was like a dessert for me and I just directly ate everything from the tub They don't have much of a drinks selection other than Chai and Lime juice but if you never had Indian Lime juice then make sure you give it a try as it's sweet and delicious (a must try) I've removed the recommendation of the Karimeen Pollichathu (fish), it was good and presented nicely but quite small for the price...gladly the cost was cheaper than what's stated on the menu but still very small (used to be several times the size many years ago). expect to eat with your hands which is normal there...a lot of the foods will probably be easier if you do as well. They won't bring cutlery unless you ask. Few things I'd like to see added is to have tissues at the tables ready, and also to have a tissue dispenser by the sinks to dry out hands after washing them. It runs a lot better than before, well done!! ___________________________ 6 months ago: ___________________________ Food is an easy 5 stars! definitely a must try but several things to keep in mind regarding the service... You won't get seated...you need to ask for each thing including a menu and water...I waited ages for the menu and they work with tunnel vision so you'll have many attempts to get their attention if you need anything. Also the menu prices aren't up to date. Regardless of the service the food is amazing, btw expect to eat with your hands which is normal there...a lot of the foods will probably be easier if you do as well. For the main I recommend the Chicken Devilled, King Prawn Roast, Kerala Beef Roast and Karimeen Pollichathu. You can have this with Kerala Parotta, Biriyani or Vella Appam. They don't have much of a drinks selection other than Chai and Lime juice but if you never had Indian Lime juice then make sure you give it a try as it's sweet and delicious.

The day we went for lunch, there was only person to take orders, serve food, clean table, and serve at the billing counter. The waiting time to get the order taken was 15 mins, and the serving time was another 30 mins. There were no tissues on table, no water / cups/ glasses on table, ( we ordered one 1 bottle of water). The food quality wasn't great! All because of short staff, I suppose.. Mixed fried rice was not at all upto the standard. All together Fair enough on a one man work..
