We travelled from Nottinghamshire to Daniela's after googling 'Best Fish and Chips in Sunderland' WOW!! Google were not wrong! Hubby and I both had fish and chips (he haddock, cod for myself) both were cooked fresh to order and were absolutely delicious. The staff were really lovely and friendly, we decided to eat in and they provided proper cutlery and our own salt and vinegar for the table. The whole place was immaculately clean and welcoming. We are DEFINITELY coming back here when we are next in the North East :-) Thanks Daniela's

Our first visit this afternoon, just before closing time and Veranique (sorry if I've misspelt your name) and Daniel the chef couldn't have been more welcoming.
We were taken by suprise as we walked in, a fabulous light , bright and modern interior with a beautiful contemporary crystal chandelier in the entrance and absolutely immaculate throughout (5 star food standards agency award)
A lovely cup of coffee while we waited for the Cod and Chips to be cooked fresh, they were served in a nice box with separated areas for the Cod and the Chips, excellent presentation even in a box, down to a nice lemon wedge and a piece of parsley for garnish both placed in the box using tongs.
The Cod and Chips were perfect with a generous portion of homemade Tartar Sauce, finished off with a tub of Minchellas icecream.
We had ordered to takeaway and even though it was 1.50pm and they close for the afternoon at 2pm we were allowed to eat in so our icecream didn't melt, they held it in the freezer for us.
To be honest we can't say what was better, the excellent service or the perfect Cod and Chips.

2 x fish and chips for a family of three was more than enough tonight. Cannot knock the place and it has probably improved although there was not much to improve on. Cheers for more cracking bait and don't change that curry sauce recipe.

Beautiful fish & chips, with light batter that is gorgeous. You have to wait, everything cooked fresh, but the wait is worth it and the added bonus of a lemon wedge & parsley sets this place ahead of the rest.
Amazing food and service. The fish bites, chips and curry sauce is a firm favourite! Daniela's is just the best!

Walked past Tuesday and said got to get cod and chips. Just been and how cod and chips with curry sauce can taste healthy defies physics lol. Lush.
Perfectly cooked Haddock and chips - I’ll not go anywhere else from now on - shop is sparkly clean and service is excellent!

Delicious traditional fish and chips, which are becoming harder and harder to get. Freshly cooked order which is so important. Cannot fault it.

Daniela's Fish Bar takes fish and chips to a new level. The shop is spotless, clinically clean with immaculate white decor. The front door's wide and there's sufficient space inside the shop to make it a wheelchair friendly area. Also impressive is the quality of the fish. It's served in a compartmentalised box keeping fish and chips separate. The fish remains whole and unsquashed which is a treat and it's served with a quarter of fresh lemon which leaves a delicious zingy flavour in among the salt and vinegar. The portion of chips is sufficient and very tasty.

During the current climate they have done everything to enable its customer to be able to continue enjoying a delicious fish meal. Being able to pre order, being given a collection time and taking payments either at point of order or at collection makes for a pleasant experience. The food is always tasty, hot and good portions with a good choice. Staff always pleasant and professional. Thanks to you all and hope you all stay safe
Taste, portion size and pricing - all make the perfect combination for this to be crowned the best chippy in the area. No parking nearby so be prepared to walk or get lucky with a spot on the road.
Queuing is likely but the staff handle this very well and are super organised even on a very busy Friday evening.
Been here a few times now and the fish and chips are always top class. Highly recommended
