Amazing! Quaint , neat country pub with lovely food!! Well decorated outside and in, staff very helpful and friendly, service not rushed and menu was difficult to choose from it was so good!! Wine list looks good too. Will need repeated visits! Angus steak burger was cooked perfectly and was delicious, very flavoursome. My mum loved her fish and the expresso crème brulee after! ( You have to keep that in the menu!) Lovely experience here today, thoroughly recommend a visit here.
Second visit! Can't fault anything, food is just amazing. The mash is the best I've ever tasted and can definitely recommend the fillet steak. Lovely staff. Thank you x have now found my favourite place.
Moved to duxford a few months ago and we are so happy to have this pub nearby! Excellent management and staff, great food and beers (smashing IPA), and quite possibly one of the best ribeye I have ever had! Quality pub!
My partner and I recently stayed at the JohnBarleycorn in Duxford and we were bowled over by the place. We couldn't have had a warmer welcome from Nick after spending 5 hours on the road!
The room was cosy and warm, clean with generous tea and coffee-making facilities. The bathroom was small but we had everything we needed, including plenty of soft white bathroom towels.
I hadn't felt like eating much that evening but I couldn't resist a delicious salad with hot smoked salmon flakes, warm potatoes and a perfectly poached egg on top. This was followed by a scrumptious cheesecake and coffee. Breakfast the next morning was generous with plenty of hot toast, tea and coffee.
We'll definitely be staying again next year!
The most characteristic, charming and quaint country pub. Always busy so best to book. Such a great atmosphere and fab staff who can't do enough for you. Really good wine list, the white Rioja was a particular favourite. Exquisite food tops it off. Shame its 3hrs away, already can't wait to return next June. It's just perfect.
Friendly staff, plenty of space outside with tables in a courtyard or inside. Good quality pub grub which everyone in our party of six agreed was excellent. Small changes were happily accommodated by the staff and nothing seemed too much trouble. Prices were reasonable and 10% service charge was added on which we were happy to pay.
Lovely pub good food highly recommend. Have not stayed but the rooms look very comfortable. This is a convenient half way mark to meet our relatives for a good chat and Sunday lunch
I am from the U.S. and we were in Duxford area for about 5 days in September 2017 and we stayed at this wonderful old
English Inn!! The rooms were quaint (don't compare with a modern city hotel) but wonderful fun! The food in the Pub was xlnt & we tried almost everything!! The sticky pudding was a wonderful treat!! The people in the Pub are extremely friendly and will help you with whatever you may need. The establishment was originally built in the 1500's and established the greatest atmosphere! Every day the pub was full & most evenings you might need a reservation! It was such a delight!!😊😋😋
Great stay in the historic John barleycorn. Really efficient & super friendly staff. Great food and lovely room. Only criticism is it's not always easy to get a reservation.
Absolutely amazing food, friendly service and great atmosphere! Will definitely visit again. My only minor quibble is the "lie of the day" - a pastry lid is not a pie!
Popped in for a quick lunch. Polite attentive service from all we met. Very pleasant lunch of cod and accompaniments. Fresh and well cooked with crispy batter. Great pub food.
