Nice old school metal bar, free jukebox on a weekday and serving pints of gamma Ray too. Lovely staff. Up a pretty steep hill that catches you out after a few ales.
Often described as the only alt pub in Durham, The Angel has a great punk style and nice beer garden with decent views because it's higher up :) Definitely add to your pub crawl.
Been going here for well over a decade now. Great music and the vibe is consistently mint. Like there was a fight tonight and nobody really cared. You won't find a better pub in Durham.

Havent been in years, went with bf and had a great night out, lovely staff and great music, got a chance to play pool too which was good fun, all the other customers were friendly too, all round good feels ☺️
Cool Rock bar. Great tunes and beer selection. I've been in for Live bands before and always a great atmosphere. They have a massive beer garden too with some cover

An amazing pub for rock bands! I performed there with Red Hot Chilipinos, it was class.
Lived in Durham on and off for 10 years and had never been in until Friday night. Very god quality pool table, delicious beer and metal music. What's not to like. I feel stupid for never having been before and I will certainly be going again!
Loved this place since the 1980's, hasn't changed much. Great selection of beer and best free juke box in the County!
I love a rock bar and The Angel didn’t disappoint. Friendly staff, fantastic drinks choice, and a superb jukebox. Definitely worth the steep hill to get up there 😂 looking forward to visiting again soon.

One of the best pubs I've ever been in. Great music, even has a modern dukebox, additionally they have a pool table and a very grungy beer garden which fits well with the rest of the place. Great choice for drinks as well, highly recommend on a night out.
