Date night Friday 1st September.
Fabulous meal with excellent service. Delicious wine, gorgeous food and wonderful ambience. Would strongly recommend.
Only one minor issue was the starter, honey walnut shrimp, although outstanding it was served in a small bowl which was awkward to eat , would have been better served on a small plate.
Otherwise first class evening.😋
This restaurant was a very pleasant surprise. The food is a mixture of asian dishes, but cooked very well. One of the biggest culinary surprises were the green beans, I recommend them.
The staff is super friendly and helpful.
Probably best to book it in advance as they are quite busy.
I love Asian food and have eaten it in many different parts of the world. And let's face it, the UK is not known for having well seasoned food so my expectations were pretty low when it came to any chinese restaurant here. Well, I was proven wrong. The sweet and sour duck soup was one of the best I've ever had! And the Kung Pow chicken was not what I'm used to but it was also delicious! Not to mention the atmosphere was like a 1920s lounge. I would recommend this place, for sure!
I was really impressed by the atmosphere of this small restaurant in Durham, imaginatively designed, music to reflect the ambiance and a quirky way of presenting the menu! Main course was splendid, flavours of all three meals was impressive and the drinks that we all received were good. I was rather disappointed by the desert, both in range of choice and by the quality of what we received. This is the reason for the lack of five stars. Rather more pricey menu than I would normally expect but well worth another visit, I would stick to the main courses though!
Beautiful Chinese/Japanese restaurant. The decor and lightning really compliment eachother and set such a relaxed dining experience.
The food is delicious and well presented.
The staff are very attentive, polite and accommodating.
There is on street parking and it would be wheelchair accessible, they also have options for vegans, vegetarians and also gluten free.
Excellent food. Small intimate place with 1920's Decor Shanghai supper club atmosphere with subtle jazz music. Essential to book.
Limited meter street parking.
Delicious food, so many items on the menu that I could have chosen but went for the katsu chicken curry, which had loads of flavour. The service was fantastic, never left waiting, glasses of water and wine always topped up and food service was quick. I loved the decor and the whole feel of the restaurant. The menus were an added treat IYKYK!
Nice fusion Cantonese food, the rice was a bit and the noodles a bit chunky tho. A bit pricey but the vibe was lovely. The service was ok as well.
Absolutely lovely time here last night, staff were amazing and the food was to die for. The oysters in particular were outstanding.
A great lunch menu - we got three small dishes and a side to share between two of us. Service was friendly too, and relatively quick
It was hard to choose from the menu as there were so many amazing tempting dishes but I went with the chilli beef fried rice and it was stunning. That beef was so tender, the prawns amazing (and I have historically always struggled with seafood). I even had scallops for the first time here and am glad I broke my duck with something as expertly cooked as I did. £50 each for that and we had two cocktails - the value was amazing. Can’t wait to go back.
The 1920’s inspired restaurant off the beaten track doesn’t disappoint. We ate in the dim sum lounge and had Asian tapas and it was amazing. Excellent choice on the menu, staff was excellent. Also enjoyed watching people getting confused on how to get in the restaurant. Upstairs in the restaurant is unlike anything else in Durham so worth checking out the a la carte menu. It has the wow factor that a lot of places in Durham lacks.
Very high-end Chinese restaurant. A bit confusing to enter as the door isn't open to the street and one has to ring the doorbell to be let in. 3 floors within so plenty of spaces, nonetheless reservation is recommended. Dim sum is very good but food in general is in small portions considering the price. A good range of cocktail and drink options.
Absolutely wonderful!
5 star throughout: Food, service, venue
We had such a lovely meal.
Thank you very much indeed.
My son treated me to a meal here yesterday.
We don't see much if each other as he lives in London. We had a three year old with us, who really enjoyed the place.
I am always a little concerned about going into fancy restaurants with a toddler!
But they were very accommodating.
I'm so glad we chose to try this place out. It was a really nice experience.
We used to go to Zen, and since they've changed hands I will never spend money there again.
The food is mediocre, cheap produce, EXPENSIVE bill!!!
Whenever we want thai food, The Rabbit Hole will be our first choice👏
My partner had wanted to go here for a long time. We went for lunch. The food and service was great. We had spicy Korean chicken, smoked chicken, crispy spicy beef, pork and prawn dumplings, chicken feet and a portion of egg fried rice. Not sure why my partner choose chicken feet because he won't even eat a chicken leg. We couldn't see there was anything to eat off them it was just bone and skin. The Tiger larger was very good and we had a orange and mango drink also. We would definitely go again.
