Market Tavern - Durham - Photo album

Called in for food and a drink Monday afternoon. It was fairly quiet. Nice convenient location next to the indoor market. The food was nice. The pub is quaint and oldie worldie with unusual music playing. The ladies toilet were down steps which were slightly difficult to get to. Bar staff were help
Loved this authentic pub. Dog friendly. A miners theme. Such a friendly place. Met family there and the pub made sure we all were able to sit together. Special shout out to our bar man , James. He made all of us feel right at home
After a spell of shopping, I felt like a nice pint of beer so went in and ordered a pint of Abbott ale. It was smashing really hit the spot. Shame I couldn't have more than one. Means I'll have to go back for more. Very good tavern, selling food and great beer, well Abbot ale anyway.
Really enjoyed our visit to the Market Tavern. Really friendly welcome and service from James when I went to the bar to order our food and drinks. The food took about 10 to 15 minutes to arrive and it was really nice . The only let down for me were the chips , they were ok but I was expecting thick
The only bad thing I could say about this brilliant tavern is that it's a bit small, during busy times it may be difficult to get a table. Part of it's charm is the olde worlde style, said to be the second oldest pub in the city. Would love to know how old it is! Absolutely put in on your pub crawl.
It hasn't changed in years. Old school feel and drinks are a bit pricey. I will say the trip to the bathroom was fun as there was no light- thank goodness for my phone. Its a nice place for a drink stop.
Great little pub this. Probably not the cheapest or the best selection in Durham but it just seems to have character. You know, how a pub should be ! A must visit when in the city
A lovely pub in the heart of Durham. They don't need to have all the TVs blaring sport out all over the place though. Very distracting for most of the actual customers.
Lovely comfortable pub in the heart of the city serving excellent beer.
Great selection of beers! 2 for 1 on when I was in so nice couple pints of Madri. Bar staff were great, dealt with some problem customers very professionally. Blond female member of staff and the guy with a pony tail were very friendly with every other customer and I'd happily return. Food 10/10!
What a gem of a place, lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and good selection of drinks avaliable.
I like going there for a drink, it’s a cozy pub and the staff are always friendly. This time we came in for a meal - I was disappointed: mash potatoes contained clumps of dry powder, why can’t it just be made by mashing real potatoes? The pie didn’t taste good. Hope your pub grub can be improved.
Service, perfect! 🤩 Food, average 🙂
Lovely friendly bar staff, felt very welcome here. Noticed a dog bowl outside so believe it is a dog friendly pub too. It's a great old pub that I will visit again.
Very busy little pub, it was a saturday night though. Friendly staff, very warm inside, and , floor at the bar quite sticky.
Lovely drinks and nice quaint little place almost like the TARDIS in the fact it seems small but is bigger than you expect. Unfortunately we tried to order food but 3 large orders had just been placed before us and the wait time was an hour so we decided to eat elsewhere but we will definitely be ba
