A very warm welcome was received in this quaint riverside restaurant. We had cream tea - which was delicious and highly recommend. Well worth a visit !
Gorgeous riverside cafe, breakfast was absolutely fabulous. The staff are lovely, friendly and so welcoming, even welcoming the poochy with biscuits. We will certainly be back, well worth a try.
Amazing Indy coffee shop in the heart of Durham. A hidden gem. lovely decor and great selection of loose leaf teas. Funky quirky touches, I love it! Will be back for sure.
Outstanding, service excellent, food was exceptional, burgers are to die for when next in the area we will definetly be back
Lovely Veggie breakfast this morning to start my Birthday off in style! Great to see this place open, and bonus of the swans swimming by.
My new favourite Durham eatery lovely atmosphere, super friendly staff, yummy food, a cracking coffee and superb views
Excellent riverside views. Lovely coffee and friendly staff. Well worth a visit.
Fabulously friendly, especially to our dog. Lovely coffee and scones with a view by the river. What more could you want? 😎
Lovely cafe with views of tbe river. Nice cake too and very friendly staff :-)
Excellent food. Loved the Riverview Kitchen. Really friendly and helpful staff.
Fabulous homemade food with fantastic atmosphere and scenic views. Dog friendly and welcomed with treats. A treasure in the heart of Durham.
Lovely cafe, great coffee, superb pancakes! Dog friendly too. Flynn loved his doggy biscuit.
Riverside dining off the busy high street, serving all day meals. Sat outside for lunch, multiple inside dining rooms, had the Panko coated chicken salad, the asian dressing though tasted balsamic vinegary was overpowering and would be better on the side. Glass of wine was served as a single small wine bottle. Friendly staff. Downhill incline walk to riverside.
We have attended the restaurant a number of times now, and the food is outstanding. Unfortunately, on our most recent visit, the eatery was very busy, so a large que was outside. This isn't a problem, but unfortunately, we got the table closest to the door, and the door was continually left open, and I and others had to continually close the door as it was freezing (mid November).
Every other time we've visited for food, everything has been perfect.
Having lived near to Durham most of my life I'm sad that I have only just discovered this place.
Popping to Durham yesterday we decided to go for a walk along the river and my children decided they were hungry just as we approached the Riverside Kitchen.
We opted to sit outside as it was nice weather so cannot comment on the inside but the seating outside was comfortable and despite being busy we were seated straight away.
The menu, breakfast due to the time, was varied. My daughter ordered the sausage stottie which had 3 large Sausages in, and a fruit smoothie which was fresh and very tasty. I ordered the breakfast stottie and a diet coke. The sandwich was very nice.
My husband ordered the smoked salmon, Avocado and poached eggs on sourdough, he was very happy and get it a 9/10. A cappuccino also.
My youngest ordered the vegitarian breakfast which was very substantial, she ate most of it and was helped with the parts she couldn't finish! She ordered a fentimens raspberry which she really enjoyed.
Including the 10% tip we left the bill came to £62. Worth it for the quality of food.
The staff were quick to take our order and very helpful
After a walk, and a trip to the park when asked the children both said the brunch was their favorite part of the day.
We will definitely be back.
Absolutely loved this place on our visit to Durham that we went there twice (once for breakfast and lunch). The staff were so lovely and attentive but the food was delicious and reasonably priced compared to other cafés.
Beautiful food and amazing view.
One of the best cafes in Durham imo. If you’re a student, it’s perfect to bring your parents to when they come and visit or to toddle out to on a weekend with friends. Would also be lovely for after a long walk (very dog friendly and I love to dog watch there as I’m missing my dogs at home v much).
So many vegan/ vegetarian options and all of the food that came out looked gorgeous.
I have been a couple of times and managed to get a seat by the river both times but just be aware that there’s sometimes a bit of a queue.
4 stars because sometimes the service can be a little slow but the staff are really friendly.
I see Riverview Kitchen everyday on my way home but for some reason, I never tried it until my friend suggested the place. I went there for breakfast and was lucky enough to get a “Riverview” seat. The service was amazing, the waiters were very attentive to our needs and you don’t have to look hard before finding someone to attend to you. I had the eggs royale and the cappuccino coffee then later had a lemongrass ginger tea. Everything was superb. The environment was comfortable and I even lost track of time while enjoying the view. I will definitely visit again.
What a little gem. We were staying in Durham and looking for a dog friendly breakfast. It’s great. Lovely menu choice and quality food. We got a table quickly despite the rain. Highly recommended.
Had a really nice lunch in the Riverview kitchen with our dog. Staff were friendly and welcoming and have dog treats on standby for the furry friends, they even have menu items for them.
Food was tasty and well priced and the view along the river is great.
Really good breakfast pancakes. Went 4 stack but the 2 stack would have also filled that 'hunger hole'. We got here early at 9:30am having looked at other reviews and we got a great table overlooking the river. It became much busier from 10am onwards. Great food, good coffee and clean facilities. Highly recommended for breakfast or brunch in Durham
Usually of a queue to get in.
Pretty place for pictures. Pretty standard brunch menu. Pretty expensive.
