Great food plus great, laid back atmosphere! Very, very 'studenty' BUT in a good way! Go for the eggs benedict-delicious! Staff are really good too! Science benches for tables plus science stools-eh, chairs that is; old school chairs too! Brilliant! Takes us back to when we were students and then teachers! Ah, nostalgia! We will DeFINITELY be back! Expect to queue but it is very much worth it! !!!

Had brunch here yesterday & it was amazing! The pancakes were the best I've ever had, so fluffy & delicious. My husband had the salt beef hash which he said was fab too. Menu isn't huge but what they do they do well. Don't be put off by the queue's it's worth the wait

I have always seen a huge queue outside for Flat White and I was always put off by it - but this Easter morning we decided to give it a go and it was so yum and delicious! I had the avocado on sourdough toast and Craig had the scrambled eggs w salmon on sourdough and it was yum yum! Next time we will for sure do pancakes! Also kudos to you guys as Craig is a big Starbucks fan - but he must really love your coffee *he bought 2 bags* plus your Chai Latte is so much better than Starbucks! Can't wait to go back again!

Great food, reasonably priced, quirky with a good atmosphere. Friendly efficient staff, but mind your head when you go to the lavatories. That said ,the fittings are a great tribute to Thomas Crapper. Definitely worth a visit ( I don’t mean just the lavatories)!!

Really friendly staff. Lovely atmosphere. Great coffee and food. Love both cafes. We sit outside of the small one if we have the pooch with us. Very special. Only one complaint... please ditch the plastic straws! xxxxx

Apart from the hour long queue it was amazing. Pancakes are the best ever and would definitely go again providing I have plenty time to wait.

The best coffee shop in town. The Vietnamese beef baguette is well worth a try. So full of flavour. Best light bite I've had in while.

Cute little restaurant in the centre of town. I had the pancakes and they were delicious but the portion and a bit too big! Great place to visit but be warned you may have to wait outside.

Great food and helpful service. Slight mix up with our order but it was sorted straight away. Building is good too. Would highly recommend.

A wonderful place to eat, with a lovely, relaxed atmosphere, and the avocado, poached eggs, chilli and coriander on sourdough bread was out of this world. Delicious coffee too. Well worth the ten minutes or so we had to queue to get in, and the staff were very friendly.

There are always queues outside this café; however, we thought our 15-minute wait was worth it. Really lovely staff, delicious food, perfect coffee and relaxing interior.

I mean you can tell from the queue just how popular this place is. A perfect place to catch up friends and an absolute must if you’re ever in Durham.

I was going to give it 4 stars because of the long queue outside but I guess it’s not their fault that their restaurant is so popular. I thought it was because they had a small restaurant space but I later realised that they have more seating spaces upstairs! The service was good and we were duly attended to. I ordered the eggs Benedict with white chocolate Mocha and later had the maple syrup pancakes. Every single meal was a hit! My friend thought the maple syrup was too much on the pancakes but being a sweet tooth, i politely disagreed with her. So I believe I’ll be visiting this restaurant again but not during term time. I’ll wait until the students are away on holiday.

We feel so lucky to have stumbled across this place during our trip to Durham. Though we had to queue, it wasn't for long and we were kept up to date on wait times by staff. On e inside, we were so excited to see the beautiful interiors. The food and coffee was delicious and the service was wonderful. We would definitely go back of we were in Durham again.

I had a brunch with my girlfriend here and we have ordered 2 savory dishes and a sweet one. My girlfriend ordered house chorizo toast with avocado and fried egg. I have ordered a house fried breakfast with sausages, egg, toast, baked beans and mushrooms. Then we split a sweet pancake with toffee cream, berries, banana and house syrup. To drink we had a chai latte, fresh orange juice and a cappuccino. So starting from the place, it looks cool and we had brunch on the second floor near the window and inside the room was small but cute with hanging plants and vintage style. The place was quite busy and we had to wait around 20 min to get served which was fine if you are not in a rush. Definitely not a fast food place. The dishes were all nicely served and tasty. The only thing I feel wasn't great is the banana on the pancake that was too ripe and a little black, but it tasted good anyway. The waiters were friendly and professional. The prices are reasonable, I would say medium high but consider that you are in the center of Durham. I have attached a picture of the bill for the people interested in price. The other great touch is the toilets are really nice and clean, with aromatic candles inside and again an old fashion look, the toilet is the basement. This cafe has vegetarian and vegan options as well so if you are wondering if they only serve meat, definitely not. It doesn't have unfortunately access for wheelchair but the staff might help you and sit on the ground floor if you have difficulties. Overall very good experience and I recommend.

The queue is overrated but overall this is a nice place with yummy food. The vegan pancakes are delicious and they’ve got a whole bunch of other great options. The interior is very sleek and I love all the plants. The service could be a bit friendlier.

This is one of the most famous restaurants in Durham. We were queuing for 30 minutes and got in at 11am. The french toast was lovely however caramel sauce was too much for me. I am a fan of sweets while I prefer their halloumi and mushrooms toast!

A must for Durham. Beautiful food at a great price. Such nice decoration too. Staff were really nice and friendly. If you’re a student, perf to bring your parents too when they come and visit. Great selection of food. Also might be a bit odd to comment on but they have an original crapper toilet.

Lovely casual cafe for coffee & cake. Never tried the food, however it did look very good. Pleasant staff, clean toilets and it's bigger inside than it looks from outside. There is often a queue outside, it moved pretty quickly.

What a great café this is. Top quality food in an excellent setting. A little bit quirky but in a very classy way. I had breakfast there and went for the scrambled eggs and sausage, all on a lovely sour dough toasted bread. Delicious. Washed down with a latte. Set me up for the rest of the day. I can't recommend this place enough.
