My Gran and I go to the Three Horse Shoes every Saturday and never look to go anywhere else. The menu is varied, food cooked to liking and everyone is extremely friendly and always make you feel welcome.
Can't recommend enough. (My Gran is 79 and difficult to impress yet she loves it and we still come back week after week)
Lovely food great service very friendly and helpful staff very nice place for a meal would highly recommend
The food as stunning as always, pub grub done with love.
Only criticism portions are a little too large. I would suggest slimming down the portions slightly, as I never have room for pud!!!
Nevertheless always highly recommended as the taste of the food is sublime
Me and my partner came here on Sunday evening.
After leaving another local pub due to very poor customer service we both decided that we would come to your amazing pub
We have both ate here often together and with different parties and never ever been disappointed.
We both had starters I had the Stilton mushrooms and he had the black pudding both of which were cooked to perfection
Mains also didn’t disappoint I had the slow cooked lamb and my partner had the steak both of which just melted in our mouths
Staff were incredible and so polite we will be dining with you all again soon
I made a group booking for 14 people on 20th January. A big ask for a busy Saturday night. Our guests of honour were from America and I wanted a pub with good food and drink, character, history, good service and able to successfully deliver meals for a large group. Absolutely bowled over with everything, a perfect night, many thanks to all at the pub. Will go there again. My new favourite pub!
Love going there lovely food great service from some really lovely staff nothing too much trouble for them definitely recommend it x
Absolutely fantastic as always went in straight away seated and greeted as always from James always makes us feel at home within five minutes our lovely roast was there to eat thanks again for a lovely meal can’t wait for Christmas Day booked already
Called in last night for our tea while out on our motorbike.. The Staff & Food were fabulous. All homemade food & top quality. Lovely little find & we will definitely be bck
Thanks to all your lovely staff for looking after myself and my family last night. My Auntie & her partner stayed over with yourselves after travelling from the Lakes. We came to celebrate what would have been my Dad’s 80th birthday had he still been with us, and you all made it really special, we loved the banter, the rum snatches and my Mam loved her HAGGIS!! Thank to you all, we’ll be back....that’s if you’ll have us! xx
Excellent stay.
Comfortable room, I slept like a log. Initially concerned about nearby road noise, but this was not an issue at all. Staff during my stay were polite, friendly and attentive. Food is simply outstanding, arrived piping hot and is of high quality. Breakfast certainly set me up for the day. Decor in rooms could do with updating, but otherwise a great business and comes thoroughly recommended.
We found this pub by chance of passing on the way to Durham, so we decided to go there for something to eat.
The pub looks really nice inside and out.
Both my partner and myself really enjoyed the food.
It was very well presented and tasted really nice. Everything was freshly made and not frozen, out of a packet or tin.
The service was fantastic and fair priced as we only paid £26 for a main course sweet coffee and a pint each.
Definitely worth a visit for lovely bar meal and we definitely we come again.
We've had two visits to the Three Horseshoes — both were really good. I had the Sunday roast such was good bit I have had better. The meat was excellent, the Yorkshire was a little tough (probably pre made and reheated). My daughter had the beef feathers — this was outstanding. Slow cooked beef on mash potatoes and gravy. I'll get that next time
One of the nicest places we've ever stayed. Roughly a ten minute drive from the beautiful city of Durham.
Really, really welcoming staff who can't do enough for you.
We barely heard the noise from the passing traffic even though the property is situated on a busy road, and our room was at the front of the property.
Massive bed and overhead shower room - nothing to fault; bottled water replaced on a daily basis.
We stayed for five nights, and ate at the property for three of them. Varied selection of main courses and desserts. I especially enjoyed the lamb & mint suet pudding (albeit this was on a specials board).
Would wholeheartedly recommend The Three Horseshoes to anyone wishing to explore this wonderful part of the country.
What a fantastic pub. I had a nice pint of real ale to go with my dinner. I had the mussles in white wine sauce which was delicious.
The staff were attentive and listened to our extensive requests (we were a table a of 9). Can't fault this place for delicious food.
Went for Sunday lunch. Luckily we went early as it got very busy later. Parking was OK for me, but later people were parking on the grass verges.
The food was very good, and the portion size was more than good enough.
The time we went, there was a choice of 4 meats all served with large Yorkshire Puddings and roasted veg.
This is a great find when looking for somewhere to stay near Durham. 10 mins by car to centre of City, the rooms were very comfortable with a proper shower (like home) which is always a bonus.
The staff are very helpful, breakfast was fab and there were even a couple of guest ales for a nightcap at end of long day. I loved this place and will definitely be returning 😊
Excellent food and service. Friendly staff, clean facilities and a great atmosphere 👌
Myself and my husband had lunch here, I had the Chickpea and Spinach curry with rice and my husband had the Beef Ale Pie. I am a diabetic and there wasn't much choice on the menu for me, so the dish I chose was a little sparse and bland and I still felt hungry after, my husband's was lovely and he thoroughly enjoyed it with plenty on his plate, however the cost of the food makes this pub slightly pretentious. Thank You.
We visited the three horseshoes on Saturday evening for a family meal. We hadn't booked but got a table without any issues. The staff were really friendly and there are lots of food options available. It's very tasty food and good portion sizes. Lovely location with views over the countryside. We would definitely visit again.
Visited for Sunday lunch. Very quick, friendly service. Meal was hot with a lot of meat and veg. Very busy while we were there, between noon and 1pm. Not the first time we've visited and certainly not the last.
Just stayed and was lovely. The room was immaculate the food fantastic and the staff so friendly. Lovely views in beer garden. Quaint Inn with squeaky floorboards which added to the charm . Will return :)
Visited today for lunch. You should be very proud of your staff we received an excellent service. Lunch menu is great with lots of variety. Hot beef sandwich with chips, salad and extra gravy delicious well presented and great value for money. Keep doing what you are doing you have got it right.
Stayed here last weekend 27th May, so glad we picked this hotel staff could not have been any nicer especially Owen. The rooms are comfortable and the food is amazing particularly the steak pie. Would give this hotel 10 stars if I could. Will definitely stay again.
Had a beautiful meal with family. Service and food were outstanding. Staff are amazing aswell xx
Visited with friends on bank holiday Monday so it was busy but the staff were great. Friendly service, they didn't seem stressed and told us there was a half hour wait on food before we ordered. The food was great when it came (within the 30 minutes).
Will definitely go back.
The food here is delicious. Great portion sizes and great quality every time I go. Staff are very nice too.
Wonderful views from the beer garden while you eat.
