Very friendly service, lovely relaxing place and way better than visiting places like costa/ Starbucks. Food was lovely would recommend paninis and the veggie wrap
Great food and atmosphere. The service is efficient and the owners always make a point in welcoming you personally upon arrival, and saying goodbye when you leave. The scones are legendary.
Called in here for a quick bite to eat after dropping my youngest off at the Gala Theatre on Saturday last week and were greeted by lovely staff with fantastic food! They were also very open with allowing my Sproodle Albert done inside with us as the weather had been awful. The Salmon quiche was to die for as was the hunters panini. We will definitely be calling back soon.
Sat outside under the tree to avoid raindrops. Lovely food, mackerel pate to die for. Very helpful staff. Definitely going back
Great cafe, great location, friendly and welcoming staff - would recommend to friends.
Thank you for our lovely cream tea this afternoon. The staff were wonderful and ever so friendly. We will definitely be returning!
I enjoyed a birthday lunch in this gorgeous gem of a place - and was welcomed like an old friend. Food delicious, good coffee & absolutely no rush. I visited with my two lively kids and felt totally relaxed. The owners & staff were great (and sang me happy birthday) - made my day.
We popped in after having a long walk beside the river. Staff very welcoming and the cheese scones with carmelised onion chutney and piece of cheese was delicious. Nice pots of tea enjoyed in a relaxed atmosphere. We would certainly recommend and we will BE BACK.
Gorgeous cafe stop for lunch after visiting the cathedral. Nice vegan options too although would be great with a few vegan pudds and scones.
Lovely scones and tea, and chocolate cake. Very nice atmosphere, love the charity collection loo, friendly staff.
A real hidden treasure full of fab food, quirky decor and amazingly friendly staff no matter how busy it is and it gets BUSY!!!
Not only a fantastic cafe with delicious home made food but also a great space for hosting events! Mark the manager was brilliant and really made our visit enjoyable :)
Went for the first time today for Fathers day. Such a lovely space - loved the decor and we had a lovely breakfast. Staff couldnt have been friendlier or more helpful. Definitely a new favourite :)
Hidden gem! Full of character! Friendly owner full of charm and banter!
I come here very often and the service and staff are all wonderful! A lovely warm place with great food.
Amazing cafe, staff are very friendly and I absolutely love there food 😊
A little gem nestled away in the shadows of the Cathedral. A must visit place in the city and one that I will definitely be returning to. The service was excellent and the food sublime! Make sure you visit next time you come to Durham.
Visited for our Anniversary yesterday. Great place, people and food. Will visit again.
Very cosy environment, friendly staff. The food is great. We tried the open bagels. The blueberry scone is not to be missed. The owner is a lovely man who looks after the customers with attention. The coffee was good and we loved the dirty chai latte. We are lucky to have stumbled upon this place on our road trip.
quirky 1st floor cafe near Castle and cathedral in Durham, up three short flights of stairs lovely bright interior, mixing different chairs, tables and lighting with plants and loads of natural light from the massive period windows, great service and lovely food with many gluten free options. Got really busy when we were in but all added to to homely feel
This was my 2nd time at cafédral. The first time I went there, I ordered their iced mocha to-go which was very tasty with lots of chocolate!
Today, I decided to finally try their infamous hot chocolate with a tuna melt panini. First of all, the panini came with a nice bed of salad with dressing, and coleslaw (a pleasant surprise). The hot chocolate was lovely with lots of marshmallows (although I expected a bit more chocolate but it was pleasant regardless).
The service was great as when I arrived, I was welcomed by who I believe to be the owner. He was very nice and ensured I got a nice big table even though I was alone.
I’ll definitely be returning!
Plenty vegan and gluten-free options available in this superb dog friendly cafe situated just a stones throw away from the cathedral.
Staff, and the owner in particular, are warm, welcoming, and just super friendly. It felt as though they had welcomed us into their cosy home to share their awesome faire with us.
I can recommend the breakfast panini. The coffee walnut cake is also one of the best I've tried, as are the fluffy and light scones.
A special note of thanks to the owner who gifted one of his spider plants to my daughter. Such a lovely thoughtful gesture. Thank you 👍
We'll be back next time we are in Durham.
Brilliant experience, they made space for us out of nowhere! Really nice food for adults and kids. Also very reasonably priced. Really friendly service, highly recommended!
A lovely lovely cafe. The food is great, and the staff are always kind. I love the cute setup with plants everywhere inside! Also worth noting that they’re dog friendly
Friendly and cosy atmosphere in this little coffee shop. Couldn't decide which scones to try as they all looked amazing! Would reccommend the simple scone with fruit jam and try a one of the cakes they have. Coffee was also really tasty. Plus it's dog friendly!
This is by far the best coffee shop in England. it is family owned. Owners are so friendly and they make the B.E.S.T. scones - made fresh. I had a raisin scone. it was served with fresh butter and jam 😱 so delicious! I could have stayed and eat more. the coffee was really good (don't know what brand they use) it was well balanced and fresh. the coffee shop has a pleasant atmosphere, relaxing & inviting. it was clean and everybody was friendly. If you are in Durham UK, go visit them! olga, from Boston MA
The place was very cozy and nicely decorated. Definitely recommend for breakfast or brunch. The scones were delicious and the coffee was very good too! Lovely experience!
Gorgeous cafe catering really well for gluten free. We had brunch, scrambled eggs with chorizo and avocado and my mum (who has coeliac disease) had a bacon and cheese sandwich. We both then had scones with jam and cream, mum said her GF scone was beautiful!
