Came to Dunwich for a day out today. Popped into this lovely place for a coffee & scone when we arrived. I was expecting the 'usual' dried scone you get in most places but was surprised how nice & fresh it was! As I was so impressed I decided to come back for lunch. I had the cheese omelette, salad & chips. Big plate full & lovely food well worth the money. Lovely friendly lady behind the food counter & a lovely young man cleared the table after us & also very informative & friendly behind the gift counter. 5 stars all round! Loved this place
Fabulous food, lovely friendly staff. The Lemon Sole was first rate. Love this place.
Great place to eat fresh cooked fish and chips. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Great value for money.
Additionally it's got disabled access and an accessible toilet so ideal for a wheelchair user!
16 of us ate here on Sunday 27th Sept, food was delicious, service excellent, all came out at the same time, piping hot and waiter was very good, getting all sauces we needed and not going until he knew we were all happy, I would highly recommend, will definitely be back again, thank you :-)
Best fish and chips in East Anglia imho, worth paying the little extra 👍
First visit for many years and we were not disappointed .. delicious cod & chips and a very naughty, yummy sticky toffee pudding.
My granny used to bring me here as a child for Fish & Chips as a treat. I used to love looking at all the tea towels! Glad to see it hasn't changed :)
Lovely fish and chips with good service
Lovely cakes and drinks and very friendly staff
This is amazing. A great gem in Suffolk. The beach hut has a lovely feel and updated. We'll loved and the food is gorgeous. The kids loved it . May have to wait for your order as it is fresh and made to order... it is relaxed and just a nice place to be
Fabulous plaice & chips freshly made. Love coming here at least twice maybe three or four times a year, for the best plaice & chips in Suffolk.
A favourite stop when we visit Suffolk, this time a bit sad as we had our dog put to sleep a couple of months ago and he loved Dunwich beach. Tea rooms were anticipating a coach party on the day we came but they still had time to cook for us and be polite and welcoming. Not too many available tables due to the party but you have to appreciate that the coach stops keep little places like this running. Great cod and chips and mushy peas, nice crusty roll and a nice strong pot of tea. Just missed our doggy begging for a chip under the table.
Brilliant spot and very busy! Plenty of seating inside and outside. Great selection of cakes and sausage rolls. The menu is well priced I had the full English and it was decent for £7.95. I asked for no mushrooms and was offered something else which is nice to see. The latte I had was very good decent coffee. The carpark is large but again it's a popular spot so get down early.
A solid 4.5: I was recommended this place by a foodie, and it didn't disappoint. Located just a 15-minute drive from our Walberswick crabbing location, this spot won us over right from the massive free car park. They encourage donations, which is fair.
Nestled next to Dunwich Beach, this pebble shore is great in the sun. Benches on the beach are sparse, so bring a blanket for your fish and chips feast. But fear not, they offer plenty of indoor and outdoor seating too at the restaurant.
We decided to bask on the beach, and our choice of cod and chips for £12.50 was spot on. They had other options like haddock and even skate that day. No size choices, but it was cooked to perfection. The batter was a crispy, fluffy masterpiece. As for the chips, they were more restaurant-style than your average takeaway, and that's a great thing.
Upon opening, I thought the portion seemed a tad small for the price, but I soon realised it was all about quality. Those perfect chips added a real punch to the meal. My wife, however, detected a subtle aftertaste in her fish, but we were deep into our meal, and the queue was growing. We'd already made one trip back for more salt and vinegar sachets.
Overall, I'd return, perhaps choosing a less windy day for beachside dining. Because, honestly, eating on that beach is a delightful experience. This of course is not an issue when seated at the restaurant.
I can only echo the good reviews. Very nice, decently priced fish and chips. Great service from the staff. Large car park which is free with a donation box next to the pebble beach. Amazing to think that a whole town and major sea port was lost to the sea over the years.
A great find, the staff were very helpful and friendly. Great seating area inside and out, fantastic prices and great quality food. Parking is free. The fish and chips looked amazing, the breakfast were fantastic.
My this has grown from the "hut" I remember!
Plenty of free parking next door (donate to local charities).
Fish is fresh and delicious. Batter is really crispy. Chips top rate.
Outside seating with table service after ordering inside. Excellent service too.
We will be back!
Look out for the special dishes too. My Lemon Sole was really good
Just popped down to the beach for an hour or so and came across this lovely location for a bite to eat / coffee. Fish and chips are excellent, well worth a visit.
It is a simple Café near the sea in Dunwich. Nothing fancy just good plain food. Famed for its fish and chips. Indoor and out door tables.
Free parking (for coaches too), a short walk to the beach and public toilets.
The cafe has great provision for seating, inside and out.
Fish, chips and mushy peas with a can of pop for just over a tenner and a right tasty treat. Well worth a visit.
The sausage rolls are chunky too 👍
A lovely place that offers a good selection of food.
Wait for cooked food can be quite long during busy periods though.
I wandered in at closing time after a lonely trek from Blythburgh. They must have seen my crestfallen expression because they did a batch of chips just for me :') I was very touched and will recommend this place in the highest terms. Chips were generously portioned and very delicious. Thank you.
Very happy and friendly staff, considering they’d opened at dawn for the Dunwich Dynamo. Hot and cold drinks, hot and cold food at the end of a long ride at 530am. What more could we ask for?
Thank you!
Good food. Sat outside , with the Dog.
Nice to stop by the sea.
Great walks.
I always seem to fall into this place, exhausted after working on the beach for a day, in urgent need of a big meal and a reviving coffee; Flora has never failed me. Remember, this is not a Michelin 3-star restaurant, it's a tea room, so for a tea room I rate this at five stars. Why? It's roomy and clean, the menu options are extensive and fairly priced, cooked quickly and served with a smile. There is even a small gift shop at the back where you can stock up on postcards and other seaside stuff. Brilliant venue.
Showing us how service should be done. Fab food in a glorious setting. Super friendly staff alone make me want to go back. Cod and chips twice with peas. Simples.
We are regular diners at the delightful Flora Tea Rooms. The home made dishes are always delicious, the deserts are utterly scrumptious! We’ll see you all again very soon. Keely & Rob
