Chapel House offers something a little bit special and is one of our favourite places to visit. It is set in the heart of the beautiful medieval village of Dunster.
From the original and imaginative decor to the sumptuous blends of flavours in their homemade dishes, this really is more than just a 'cafe'!
The furniture consists of a range of quirky tables and chairs with interesting tops (you'll have to visit to find out what!).
With unique, individual salt & pepper sets, miniature milk bottles and urns (which can now be purchased)and the imaginative light fittings, the attention to detail is brilliant!
The two young owners have worked so hard since they took over the establishment last Summer and their drive and determination has certainly paid off! What was once a dull village tea shop is now a buzzing hub of the community.
You are always given a warm, friendly welcome and a first class service (that you'd expect from a top class restaurant but quite often don't get!).
As well as the excellent food, the Chapel House offers a range of original gifts, homewares and traditional toys, all at very reasonable prices.
We can't recommend the Chapel House enough, other than to say that you must pay a visit!
Well done you guys, it's great!
Came over from Wales to visit Dunster Castle but spent a fair bit of time I’m here. The original plan was to have a cup of tea but when we saw the menu decided to have lunch an amazing ploughman’s. the owner even explained where the cheeses had come from. It was awesome. Then had a slice of Victoria sponge which I would highly recommend. Then after visiting the castle we went back for more tea & cake. Staff were very friendly & the food was reasonably priced. Will definitely go again.

A fantastic tearoom with superb staff and fabulous food. My husband, son and I had a wonderful lunch and bought some great gifts. To top it off even though we can't eat dairy, lactose or gluten (due to allergy and coeliac) we had loads of choice and felt extremely welcome and cared for. Thank you.
The best cream tea’s and cheese scones I’ve ever tasted, thank you to all the staff. 👍
My friends and I stopped of here, we were recommended this beautiful place by the two lovely ladies that work in the local post office. The welcome was lovely as we entered and the service was fantastic! Oh and as for the cream tea's... Delicious! Highly recommend this beautiful, charming, friendly place. X
Absolutely wonderful owners who couldn't be more friendly and helpful. The coffee is the best I have had whilst home in England and the orange and raspberry sponge cake (which was dairy and gluten free) was delicious..... all enjoyed in quirky surroundings
