A really warm and friendly family run establishment. We have been visiting for many years since our children were young.
All ages are catered for including four legged friends.
The setting is next to none, a jewel in Dartmoor's crown. The walled courtyard garden with guest rooms in a converted barn are quirky and the perfect place to retire to after a walk over the moors or in the woods, a day sightseeing or shopping in the nearby market towns or just relaxing over a pint and dinner in the pub.
If you feel like chatting to the locals they are a very diverse group of individuals each with interesting stories to share.
The garden set high above the courtyard offers stunning views over Dartmoor National Park.
The night sky is magical without the reflected lights of busy towns.
Children of all ages will be delighted with all the animals that live in the grounds and paddocks, ponies, llamas, donkeys, dogs, cats, rabbits, chinchillas and many more all with names that go with their characters.
Judy and Mark really do treat everyone as someone special.
So yes I would definitly say don't delay book today!
PS No I have not been asked to write this, it just popped up on FB and the memories came surging back!
Enjoy.

I stayed here for a few days in June with my partner it was fantastic lovely landlady and the food was fantastic next time I visit Devon I'll be staying here again
The best pub garden in Devon.
Quiet and absolutely beautiful!
Good food and lovely owners too.
We visited this place several times whilst on holiday in the area. A very welcoming village pub with a really friendly landlady serving an excellent menu. We particularly rated the vegetarian Sunday lunch option of nut roast - absolutely outstanding! But all the food was great - a wide ranging menu and generous portions. Thank you!
Excellent village pub/B&B. Only stayed the one night and the room was lovely and clean with the ability to make hot drinks in the room. Family run and we were made to feel very welcome. A walk of 20 minutes will take you to a river walk managed by Devon wildlife trust which is very picturesque. There is a car park for the lazy.
Wonderful stay, beautiful village, lovely people.
Great hot shower, nice room.
Proper pub with fantastic beer and great haddock and chips! Really good clean accommodation too, and friendly owners. The pub is in a beautiful village. Great place....
Lovely pub & very good food. Arrived with a child & dog on 1 of their busiest nights of the year without booking but were welcomed by staff who were all really friendly. The food was great; homemade curry, chicken pie & spinach pie, all lovely & despite it being so busy we did not have to wait too long. We were camping nearby & will definitely visit again when we are camping again.
What a nice place to stay. I was that way for work. The hosts and staff were friendly and helpful helpful. Lovely room with superb beer and tasty food. Peaceful beer garden with excellent views. Will be back
Spent some time in the pub after a day's walk in Dunsford Nature Reserve, Devon Wildlife Trust. Had a beer in the back garden. Good Pub!
Decent little selection of proper beer and cider. Great food; decent prices and portions. Fish and chips were lovely, as was the full English. We stayed a couple of nights, and the rooms were comfortable and clean. A perfect little base for exploring Dartmoor.
The landlord subscribes to the Alan Partridge school of baked bean management when serving breakfast, and was happy to chat to us about beans for around five minutes. Nice folks in there.
Loved this place. Rooms are big and clean. Gardens and surrounding is beautiful. Staff lovely and helpful. Food good, drinks good. I honestly can't fault the place at all. Oh and extremely dog friendly
We were accommodated very last minute just before they close for the night and got some sandwiches as well. It’s a very beautiful peaceful Inn with cute garden in picturesque countryside. Breakfast was very good and value for money too. Thanks very much! :-)
We came in here tonight for dinner. I just want to say to the general public, PLEASE Don’t drive past this pub! It is a little gem 💎 waiting to be discovered! The hosts were both very polite and welcoming. The food was extremely good value for money. We had to wait a while for our food BUT it was worth the wait. It was cooked fresh and tasted delicious 😋. It was a lovely community pub, and was comfortable inside. The outside and inside could do with a little ‘spruce up’ BUT I’m not going to stop that from me and my family from returning. I would be willing to pay a little more for the food because it was worth more. Loved it!
I stayed here for a couple of nights whilst attending a wedding close by, everyone was extremely welcoming and friendly, a special thank you to the lovely owners who prior to our departure gave us a really thoughtful gift. The food is great especially the breakfast!! Hope to be back soon.
Friendly staff, excellent food and located in a lovely little village. We were visiting friends who were staying in the village and we would certainly consider eating there again if it wasn't a 4 hour round trip from home ! A special mention for two of the friendliest pub cats we've encountered 😁
Lovely Bed and Breakfast in the quaint Village. Thatched roofs and lovely views all around are matched by the comfort of the beds and rooms, as well as the wonderful host, and delicious breakfast.
