Always a great meal! Always delicious, well presented, satisfying food with incredibly high standards. Mark and his team do a great job, and Local Hero is a favourite treat for my partner and I, for a date together or to take friends when they visit. I especially love the emphasis on fresh ingredients. Go when extra hungry, as they don't stint on the portions. Pictured is the salad bowl from Asian week, which was absolutely wonderful. Delightfully fresh, and rounded out with a creamy peanut dressing.

Delicious food for when your tum is grumbly for something other than the usual local fare. The mouthwatering Fried Chicken Pickle Tickle and the Animal style fries are our current favourites. The burgers are so tasty and the owner Mark has a list of add ons. The cafe is decorated in a lovely style with plants and soft colors pleasing to the eye. And they’ve started serving Chai and a gorgeous looking coffee and ice cream concoction I’ll be heading there especially for this week!
What a breath of fresh air (And very fresh food).
After trying to find an alternative eatery for our regular visits to Dunoon following the closure of Shiela's Diner. We have found that Local Hero Cafe has what other eateries that we have tried in Dunoon do not. Excellent, relaxed and professional Customer service. Fantastic flavours from food that has been derived from the recipes of professional Chefs, which is evident from the first taste.
Great value for money and a personal, friendly approach in the USA style that welcomes and works to serve everyone who walks through the door, with relaxed care and personal attention .
These standards must be difficult to teach, but come across very naturally from owner Mark and his staff.

Really lovely place. The staff are really friendly, welcoming and polite. If you need recommendations for local places to explore, ask! Food is fresh and very tasty! Probably one of the best lunches I've ever had. High recommend!
Excellent cafe with lots to choose from, a flare for something a little bit unique and delicious fresh ingredients like you would have at home. Highly recommend. They're really friendly and have a little box of rainy day puzzles to keep kids (and adults) entertained.
What a great find in Dunoon! We visited twice and loved the friendly atmosphere, attentive staff, delicious food and coffees. Hero was busy with a wonderfully diverse bunch of customers - try it, you won't regret it!
Had a cheeseburger and chips and wifey had the animal burger (apparently it's the name of the sauce) and chips. So so good. Both agreed that we'll go back. Service was really good as well, very friendly and helpful. Quite a small place though but apparently they also deliver and you can take away as well.
Freshly prepared, beautifully balanced sandwiches and good coffee. Great service and a real sense that pride is taken in the food. A delicious and charming surprise that's well worth repeat visits and delivers excellent value for money. Highly recommended.
This place is an absolute hidden gem and such good value! Amazing service, high quality and as close to real good quality, American food as we’ve had since our time in California!

Had smash burgers from the new menu and was blown away by the amazing flavour combinations; the teriyaki, pineapple burger was surprisingly tasty as well as the garlic mushroom burger. Great quality tasty food.
