Across the board one of the best (of many excellent) impromptu meals we had on the road in Scotland. As the proprietor - a lovely and fascinating guy who makes and displays his own weapons, among other things - told us, they are more of a local joint, open year-round rather than deeply reliant on a few month of tourist trade. This means their prices are more reasonable and they’ve had time to craft their experience (they are only a few years old). This was far more than just a “local joint” to us, however… the wind-swept patch overlooking the ocean and cliffs down the coast is stunning, the staff was as warm and relaxed as any we met, and the food was fantastic. While we were skeptical of haggis in general, we found several examples that were excellent, and the haggis fries here were one of the most delicious we found. All in all this is not just a place we’ll go back if we’re in the neighborhood, we PLAN to go back here next time we are in Scotland!

Very slow service, but the staff were all very helpful and kept us updated on our food. The food was very tasty, especially the pizzas, although some of the portions were a bit small, particularly the beast burger, specifically labeled only for very hungry people, when in reality it was smaller than a standard burger. They say they're dog friendly but when our dog barked maybe twice in 5 minutes, they came over annoyed asking us to shut him up, this felt a bit unreasonable as it was already a very loud environment with music, lots of other people talking and lots of kitchen noise, and the people at the end of our table hadn't even heard him, so no one else would have. Other than that, a very nice place, with good decor, a nice garden you can sit in and lots of parking. If you're thinking of going I would book as they were turning people away because they were full.

Delicious and reasonably priced food. I had the large haddock (fish and chips) at £14,95. Good, crispy crust and juicy fish filling. Definitely recommend it!

The food is very good and the staff are very pleasant but there was a bit of a wait despite it not being that busy when we were there. My only gripe would be that my drink was brought to me in a green tinted 'Coke' glass which was absolutely covered in lipstick round the rim from the previous user and due to the relatively low level of lighting, this wasn't spotted until I had drunk from it.

On a solo adventure for my 40th birthday, drove all day so it was now late when I arrived here and the kitchen was just about closing, the bar tender was so kind to keep the kitchen open especially for me. (What a god sent! ) The food was amazing, and the hospitality even better. Then a Canadian guy walking 12 hrs a day for charity came in about 45 mins after me. So the Kitchen was by now definitely closed, but the bar tender told him to wait a little while and he would personally go cook him a pizza as it was for a good course. (That’s how kind the staff are) The locals and the atmosphere in this place were so warm and welcoming. Three strangers in the middle of nowhere ended up having a really good craic. I would most definitely visit this place again. It’s reasonably priced, the drink and food is very appetising, it’s clean, fresh, the locals are lovely, and the views are outstanding. Visit this little hidden gem, honestly you won’t regret it!

Came on the off chance of getting a table. Arrived at just the right time. We were welcomed by the owner who was absolutely lovely - great host, lovely guy. We were served by Cole - it was his first day in the job but he couldn’t have done better. We had their homemade pizzas, coleslaw and chips - all really delicious and so fresh. Highly recommend to is place, such a great find. The views are fabulous too. Thanks guys, great job done.

We got in late and the bartender welcomed us with a friendly smile. They have wood fired pizza so that’s what we ordered. They offer several beers on tap and have a good wine list. This place doesn’t look like much from the outside, but the inside is cozy with a fireplace too warm you and an amazing view of the cliffs and sea. Highly recommend!

Really lively, pleasant place, very popular so ring ahead to book! Has the most amazing view out across the bay. Pizzas were tasty, or hungry males had the burger for the hungry people but weren't overly impressed with the size, very tasty though. Is dog friendly, but make sure your dog is quiet!

Amazing! Pod was spotless, modern and comfortable, the bed was so comfy, the sheets were soft and the view was lovely. Michelle was very responsive and helpful. The restaurant/bar is a minutes walk from the pod, food was so good and Jon was the perfect host, the locals were also so friendly. I can’t praise this place enough it was just amazing, the best nights sleep we had on our NC500 journey. Highly recommend and would love to go back.

Jon couldn't have been nicer. Arriving there on our motorbikes we were absolutely drenched he welcomed us and put some more logs on the fire so we could dry our clothes out. The food was excellent. The view from the restaurant is stunning. Great stop for bikers very friendly from staff right down to the locals who come for food and drink. Thanks again Jon definitely will be back next time we're up.

Really excellent & friendly service. A young lady working an apprenticeship made sure we didn’t run low on drinks! The views are really great from the beer garden. Dog friendly too. And the food looks/smells amazing.

The place is outstanding for bikers and families. 10/10 We rocked in soaked from the rain 🌧 and the owner Jon told us to take our gear over the wood burner and dry it off. What a lad. Food was amazing 100% recommended 👌

A great place to eat, peaceful and with a stunning view on the beach and Dunbeath castle. Very nice hosts and amazing food, so delicious. I ate perfectly cooked salmon with vegetables. My husband had very good chicken and kids were delighted too with their macaroni cheese. We will definitely come back and we recommend it !
