was there with the family on Wednesday and must say the food service was brillaint the chicken&bacon pie was the best food i have ever had!!!!
Couldn’t fault any of the meal. Best fish and chips I’ve ever had, mussels were Delish, risotto awesome. Service fast and staff lovely. We’ll be back 5
Went with my hubby, boys and grandma.
Very friendly lovely atmosphere and fantastic food. You get plenty of food and the staff were lovely and welcoming. Views are stunning even with the rain, will definitely call in again before the end of our holiday x
It was a bit of a detour, but my memory of a previous visit and the fantastic food were worth the miles. Richard & I had the tastiest roast beef with all the trimmings that we've had the pleasure of tasting. Thank you we will definitely be back !!!
Here again at the weekend and this time we stayed in the b and b which was great. Yet another place in Dumfries and Galloway we love coming to. All the staff are just brilliant and Kate always makes you feel so welcome, as do all the other staff. Food is fantastic and was great to sit back and enjoy a glass of wine and not drive back to a wigwam or Barend. Thanks again guys and have a fantastic Christmas. I'm sure we'll be back down within the next couple of months...😎
Fantastic Sunday Roast Beef Dinner, gravy to die for! All of the staff are very friendly & very helpful. The pubs decor is unusual but that adds to the atmosphere, the saddle bar stools deserve their own mention! & it's dog friendly too!
8 beautiful meals. Nice pint, nice wine and great friendly service. Would highly recommend
All 5 of us had a lovely meal at the Steamboat Inn. ..huge portions and good quality food. And our dog was made very welcome too!
The staff were great, especially when the 2 cars in the car park turned in to a packed pub! Very friendly, quirky and dog friendly too. The food was lovely and very fairly priced, so glad we got lost and found this gem.
Claims to be the best pub in Dumfries and Galloway. After having lunch here, I can certainly see why.
Food was delicious, smoked salmon to start and the seafood chowder for mains. I've not had pub food this good for a long time.
Service was great too.
Pub is very authentic with log fires and salmon fishing memorabilia together with a load of award certs across the top of the fireplace. Great views over the water opposite.
I will surely revisit when I'm back in the area.
We really enjoyed visiting, the food was excellent and the service was excellent. We visited twice. The first time we visited we had the chowder which was absolutely delicious probably my favourite dish I ate all week visiting southerness! Second time we had the seafood platter which was cooked to perfection, plenty on the platter as well they do not skimp on portion sizes here! The views outside are also very beautiful so if the weather is lovely they also have a beer garden to enjoy and relax.
Just brilliant. Excellent food, great, attentive staff, lovely location. This pub is the antithesis of modern anti-septic corporate rubbish, plastic so called pubs we have forced upon us today. First class, well done folks..
We strolled here on chance, wanting some dinner we decided to try it and we were not disappointed. A very old fashioned pub with little trinkets on the walls makes great character for the pub. We sat outside with the view of the beach. Our food was out of this world, so fresh and so so tasty. The fish was locally caught, I had macaroni cheese and it was beautiful! Would highly recommend if you’re in the area!
We had a lovely lunch at the Steamboat. We had our dog with us and it was great we could bring her along. One of our party had a gluten intolerance and there was a good selection of food choices available. 3 of us shared the Seafood platter, which is a must if you love shellfish, and the other 4 having a selection of specials and menu items. The food was fresh and tasty and the service was first class - a lovely mix of professional and welcoming in all the right measures. We will definitely be back when we are next in the area.
Brilliant pub. We had a great lunch as a large group - the food is excellent and really well cooked - the seafood was particularly good, including the (huge) mixed seafood platter, and the portions were generous. You can access the beach and walk off your lunch easily too - perfect. More than anything though, the owner and staff are friendly, attentive and have made a really welcoming environment - will definitely return when next in the area.
My girlfriends parents were over from Germany and stayed in Carsethorn and we visited and it was absolutely gorgeous. A great range of local beers and the food was brilliant. Very large portions and it was all proper tasty.
Thank you for squeezing us in even though you were very busy and we didn’t have a booking. If we are ever in the area again we will definitely pay it another visit.
Lovely pub in a cracking location overlooking the water. Serving 2 ales from local Sulwath brewery in castle Douglas. Friendly staff. Has a good menu with specials. Booking is recommended. Has pool table and darts board. Allows stop overs for a fee. Space is limited so ring ahead. Recommended 🍻 🎯 🎱 🚐 🌊
During our week stay in the area we visited here twice for good. Once for lunch and again for dinner. The food was delicious and the service was great. Reasonably priced. Best of all it is incredibly dog friendly. Some lovely outdoor seating with a beautiful view.
Fantastic. We went for a meal on our ‘mini moon’ and we were very impressed. Excellent service; we were really well looked after all evening. The food was amazing - the seafood platter being exceptional, it was delicious, very fresh and well cooked. It was also very reasonably priced. We would definitely return.
