Four of us visited the Castle View for lunch on Tuesday 13/06/23. The premises are large, open plan with contemporary styling that is fairly typical of modern family chain pubs. The decor is nicely designed and whilst beginning to look tired in some area it remains acceptable. On our arrival tables were clear and the interior was clean, although we did notice food on the floor beneath a number of tables (presumably dropped by customers earlier in the day and not swept away when they left). We ordered through the Greene King app which was slick and straight forward to use. There was a good selection of food and drink to choose from. We spoke with three staff during our visit and all were pleasant and helpful. Drinks were brought to our table almost immediately after ordering and the food took 35 minutes. The food was of reasonable quality for the price paid; it was nicely prepared and well presented. We had two minor constructive criticisms about the food, 1) one ‘hand battered’ fish was pretty devoid of fish but another was fine and 2) the baguette contained raw onion not shown on the menu in the app. In summary, this is a pretty good pub chain restaurant, offering straight forward food in pleasant surroundings at a fair price. The team seem well motivated and are doing a good job. We would return and can recommend.
Went with the family; a birthday meal for my niece! Clean restaurant, tasty food and polite attentive service.
The staff were extremely helpful, constantly smiling and very accommodating from the second we entered the building.
The shift manager was very happy and flamboyant; his good positive energy spread throughout his team…!

Fantastic prices, friendly and accommodating staff. Beautiful well cooked and presented food with a very extensive choice of dishes. I will definitely be visiting again and working my way through that menu
Really friendly staff, I had my dog with me & we were made very welcome. Food arrived quickly & great options on menu. Will definitely be back again.
What a great find!!! Being Gluten Intolerant it’s always a bit tricky to find nice food. Made it super easy to order from the GF menu, and I was lucky to come on a day that I got a free GF pudding 😍👍
I ordered the Chicken New Yorker. The chicken was tender, bacon crispy and the BBQ sauce complimented everything. Also came with a nicely cooked jacket potato, coleslaw and fresh salad - all tasted great!!!
I order a Malibu Colada - Fruity, exotic and a nice Malibu kick.
For my free GF pudding I went for Apple & Berry Crumble with custard. First time trying a GF version and you would not know, really tasty 😋
Love the design & decoration of the restaurant/pub, makes it really individual and interesting. Also got seating outside for warm days like today.
Top shout out to the lovely staff who made my visit special and really looked after me.

We had a great evening with the children at Castle View. We hadn't booked a table on a Saturday night but it wasn't a problem. Edele greeted us and said we were next in line. She wasn't lying, by the time I'd ordered our drinks we were being seated. The food was cooked quickly and every member of staff who came to our table were super friendly and made a point of talking to our two young children. The food was great, extremely reasonable and left us full after a long day travelling and a visit to the nearby zoo & castle. We aren't in the area often but we will make a point of visiting Castle View next time we are.
Great food, great selection of drinks, great price, great staff, great atmosphere. Lovely comfortable place to eat, drink and have a laugh.
After a car accident tonight nearby, the staff at the restaurant were so kind and welcoming to our familyand went the extra mile for us. We are so grateful to John and all the staff who really cheered us all up after what happened. All the staff seemed really concerned and came to check on us. The food was also perfect, the atmosphere was wonderful here. We won't forget your hospitality and kindness and hopefully see you again soon xx
First time visit to Castle View this evening. Popped in for a few drinks while catch up with some work needing WiFi.
Sat in bar area, quite nice to have a space for adults only.
Only ordered drinks, and from working on laptop - used the app so didn't have to leave it unattended. Worked just fine, no problems at all.
Could have given 5* except for only two
fixable points:
1. I ordered drinks, yet the empty glasses were left behind on table. Ended up taking them to bar myself as was a small table. Really, if bring a fresh pint, should take the finished one back.
2. The toilets. They were a bit grim. Didn't smell too fresh and toilet paper around on the floor.
Other than that, nice place to go. Will be fine coming back, and maybe try the food too and update review.
We visited the Castle View on Sunday 22/10 and had a wonderful meal and enjoyed a really great quiz all in aid of Macmillan.
There were 4 of us in total, 3 adults and one child, and our puppy.
The pub is dog friendly in the bar area and she was very much loved and fussed, given water and treats too courtesy of Edel and Owen.
Our meals were lovely too.
Hot and tasty and filling too.
The pub itself is big with loads of choices of seating but has a lovely warm cosy vibe to it, and the staff are amazing friendly like you have known them for years even though you have only just met.
Lots of parking spaces to pick from just outside the door.
We really enjoyed our time visiting and will definitely be back to visit again.

Had a course up this way and spent 3 or 4 evening here for evening meals and a beverage. Each night was more than happy. Great food , cheap enough beers, and lovely staff.
One evening sat outside and enjoyed the gardens and chilled.
Not far from decent out out places such as the cinemas and ten pin bowling, so good place to start or end an evening.
Food was the best bit , well cooked and hot, but also tasted great.
Came in, large party. We ordered easily and food arrived perfect. No one had any complaints. The kids are always happy here and feel comfortable going outside to play. The staff are really friendly and are always around to help if needed. Manager is amazing and is really friendly and helpful.
We went here twice. Its a very formula place but everything is fine and the food is reasonable. The second time we were just drinking but the host made a real effort to make us welcome and share the area with us. Well worth returning to!
Overall very happy with my visit at Castle View. Tried the new Jerk Chicken and Ribs. Very tasty for a chain restaurant. The Somerset Scrumpy was really good but dangerous lol.

Staff are very friendly, lovely atmosphere.. Children's play area at the back and child changing room available. They have great deals on daily. Menu is great and something for everyone. Would recommend
