Enjoyed a peaceful night's sleep at this pub park up. No food available on a Sunday night but I did have a very friendly welcome, a lager shandy, crisps and peanuts. Recommend a visit. Opposite the pub is the delightful old St. James' church set in the green with lovely gardens in front but unfortunately it's in need of some serious work as it's sinking into the ground and breaking apart. Such a shame for this 450+ years old church.
Really good white chocolate crème brûlée. Good service in a very old 14th century pub. Pork belly was very nice.
Brilliant pub ran by lovely people. Great place to stop by on a walk/cycle etc. Hope the kitchen can one day be resurrected as the food was amazing!
Used as a Britstop. Bartender had no idea this was a Britstop but we stayed anyhow. Car park was fenced off as undergoing building work, so we parked opposite the pub. Food was great, cosy pub with old beams, just as an Inn should be. Quiet corner of village, not far from A1, about 6 mins. Service was great, no negatives. All good, would recommend
I decided on the off chance to visit the pub for Sunday lunch . Pleasantly surprised food arrived promptly and was hot and plenty of it . i enjoyed sampling the various types of Gin including pink Gin " lovely" . Manager friendly and welcoming although the waitress could do with cracking a smile occasionally. I will without a doubt go back and would definitely recommend as the food is delicious . Will be sampling one of those lovely desserts on the menu next time .
Good sandwiches. Had a nice hoppy IPA. Enjoyed the outdoor seating and quiet atmosphere
Disabled Review - Parking by the side door with a ramp for easy access. Oldy worldly traditional pub with cosy areas and a real fire. Just under new management. Landlord Harry is friendly and professional and nothing is too much trouble. Made us very welcome and introduced us to some locals. Drinks are very reasonably priced and cocktails on request. Beers are well looked after and a 'cracking pint' as a local informed me. There is a pub menu and small plates to nibble one or three with your drink. Meals are reasonably priced for proper pub food. Wheelchair at table access. Disabled toilet, need your radar key or ask at the bar. Again tight for space but that is being rectified by the new owners. Well worth a visit for a wheelchair friendly pub.
This is a traditional English pub serving wonderful, freshly cooked food. The owners are young and keen, so customer service levels are high. One owner is also the head chef and he prides himself on freshly cook, locally sourced food with changing daily specials. It's a real gem of a place and I love it!
This place is awesome!!
Just had Christmas dinner for 12 and the food was top notch, all pre-ordered meal was correct and piping hot when it hit the table. They also got all special requirements right too. The staff were welcoming and friendly and the the price is more than reasonable.
Me and my family would highly recommend The Wheatsheaf.
A must to visit if you are in the area. A real ale pub. A small but varied menu very reasonably priced. First class food served by pleasant staff. Plus the leaning tower of Dry Doddington church, it leans more than Pisa, has to be seen to be believed.
Great beer and idyllic setting!
Fantastic pint of Abbott Ale and every effort made to make you feel safe and welcome. The Wheatshief have tried really hard to continue trading and I wish them well.
We stayed over night in our motorhome, such a peaceful night's sleep. The pub was warm and welcoming. Staff very friendly and helpful, a lovely place to rest and relax.
