Came for an evening meal as a fairly large group (9), the welcome was really friendly. We had a drink at the bar and it was very competitively priced, also a good selection of beers, spirits and also non alcoholic beers. When we sat down the orders were taken promptly and very courteously. A very good menu of good food, well cooked and sourced from local area. I ordered the common and eggs with pineapple, it was very good size and the chips were lovely. The checkback was polite and timely manner the staff did not dwell around. The rest of the food around the group all looked great and 1 member ordered a steak that looked cooked superbly. All portions were of a very good side even bordering generous. The bill was exceptionally good value. Would I recommend this place yes and I will bring my family back to sample it. Thank you

We were on holiday in Yorkshire for 2 weeks with my parents. One evening they took a trip out and came across the Star Inn. They stopped for a drink and enjoyed it so much that they booked for us all to have a meal there the following evening. We were warmly greeted upon entering the pub. We were shown to our table and menus handed out by the friendly waitress. The options on the menu all looked delicious and none of us were disappointed with the meals we chose. Everything tasted freshly cooked and the portions were very generous. Our daughter is in a wheelchair and she had no trouble manoeuvring around in her power chair. There is an accessible toilet which is a bit of a squeeze however it is manageable. Overall this is a lovely establishment, great food and drink with lovely staff.

Just want to share my thanks and gratitude to Joe and Jo for their hospitality this weekend. We were on a three day hike and as we stayed in the town hall, we came for tea and also breakfast the next morning. The staff are so friendly and the food was delicious. Will certainly pop in when we travel through again. Thank you very much again for accommodating us. All the best.

We tried the Star for the first time as it was my birthday, What a little gem, friendly atmosphere, great food, quality and value. Lovely setting to just pop down for drink. It was also dog friendly which is a big plus point. Thank you to the staff for a lovely evening.

Get here! The food was very, very good. The team were welcoming, helpful, interested and friendly. A nice selection of beers and an offering of wines collated by the brewery (I think). An enjoyable menu (fun for the spelling police) that led us to great pies. The head chef's Grandmother's pastry recipe has been put to good use. As has the cooker - very tender, tasty fillings. Marvellous gravy and chips better than at the seaside (in my opinion). Do not miss out on the gravy. I felt the locals perched at the bar like seagulls at the harbour were a touch intimidating. I would have preferred not to have navigated their defensive line-up to access the facilities. But, they did not spoil a great evening. Food, fun, friendly and worth a visit!

Visited the pub last night and had an excellent meal. The chicken & ham pie was amazing and so was my daughters traditional fish and chips. Lovely welcome from the proprietors and locals too. Nice to see the chef too out chatting to customers. Friendly front of house staff who have good knowledge and attentive. Well done will definitely be back very soon.

Absolutely excellent food & the best customer service I've ever experienced. 5 stars doesn't do them justice and I can't recommend dining here enough. From the exquisite green Goddess salad to the melt in your mouth steak it was all perfection. Thank you so much for accommodating such a large and demanding group! Look forward to making many more memories at the Star Inn!

Myself and my family spent a week in North Dalton 1st week July 23, we had a fantastic time, one of the main reasons was the welcome we received from Joe , Joanne and their team.We were made to feel part of their family from day one. The quality of the meals and the general daily welcome was excellent, we have already arranged to return to the village next year and the major reason is the Star Inn, we all can’t wait to return to your fantastic establishment, thanks for such a great time , “the Scottish”

We thoroughly enjoyed our meals at The Star Inn. Everything seems to be homemade and you can taste the difference. All of sudden, it has become one of my favourite places to go and eat.

This is probably one of the best pubs I have been too. The food is incredible, they are incredibly lucky to have a chef as high standard as the one there. I would recommend eating here anytime.

What a fabulous stop off for a slightly later lunch than planned. I haven’t been to this pub for ages so delighted to see it open and even better that we could get some food. Inside has been refurbished a little while back so it was fresher and more welcoming than I had remembered. We had the steak pie and it was delicious! If you are passing you should definitely stop. Lunch until 2.30pm then it reopens at 5pm. We will definitely be going back as the team were so friendly and helpful and of course we would definitely be eating again. Pies are a speciality but the menu has other things too. Hello to Liberty!

Spotted the star as we were driving by. We decided to try it a couple of weeks later., We were not disappointed, from booking to leaving we were met with friendly smiling service and efficiency from Joe and Joanne the landlords, and the two pleasant young ladies who served us, also Lee the head chef kept coming and chatting with the diners, which was a nice touch. As for the food, king prawn starter, excellent, one sirloin, one ribeye, cooked perfectly. Considering this team have only been in about 10 weeks it ran smoothly. Date of visit 29/04
