All the locals seem to know about this picturesque pub in an amazing location. Great for dropping in after a walk where the food and service are excellent. We had a fantastic time here, trust you’ll also enjoy it.
Fabulous location and possibly the best bacon cheese burger I've ever had. The lemon and ginger cheesecake was sublime. As always, the people are very friendly, chatty, and welcoming. If I'm ever nearby again I will definitely be making a detour to this pub.
What a great place, right by a river, beautiful location, absolutely perfect
Plenty of walks nearby, plenty of parking
Get there early to avoid not getting a table,it does get busy around 1pm,do best go earlier, good was lovely.. I started with chicken and apricot terrain and I had lasagna as my mains ,my only small criticism on that was the cheese on top of lasagna needed to be a bit more crispy, but that's just me being fussy and we're all different, apart from that,no complaints.
If you are able to get to this place, it's definitely worth it, but the drive may not be for everyone.
The location is just magical, and the food is on the same level. My only issue is that I wish it was a bit more traditional looking than a 70s rebuild.
There are so many parts of the interior that need work, either to modernise or to make it look traditional to match the extior and settings.
I highly recommend though. As the food was to die for, made even better when we got to sit out by the stunning river that flows passed!
Very friendly service here in a beautiful setting. As a result, very popular so parking can be tricky despite a very long parking area so perhaps get there early.
We enjoyed a very tasty beef lasagne and a hearty ploughman's by the river and it was bliss in the sunshine - their benches are literally on the river bank so you get to enjoy blue damsel flies flitting by and the shade of the trees overhead. A truly special place x
Beautiful location right on the river. Not open every day for food. Menu is compact. The food was very tasty, but I found the portion quite small for the price.
What an amazing place and pub to visit after a walk at Castle Drogo. Good selection of drinks and really enjoyable food. The staff were brilliant but have to say the riverside setting is stunning.
We came here after a walk for some lunch and the service was great, everyone is really friendly and food arrived quickly. The meals were freshly prepared and a good price too.
This is a dog friendly pub with a lovely atmosphere, lots of seating outside too (for the summer months).
I would highly recommend this place. It’s in a beautiful location and the atmosphere was really nice. You can sit outside by the river and the staff were really good and attentive. The food was banging. We all got the carvery which is was only £14 and was really really good. You queue up for the carvery and there’s a guy there that slices the meats in front of you. The gravy was decent too. I think the stand out dish was the cheesey leeks. Guinness on tap was good too
Great place for a walk and then food and drinks after.
Very pleasant atmosphere by the river.
Great service and food.
Recommend a visit.
