First visit and had a lovely roast. The chicken was very tasty and the lamb shank was even better. Super friendly staff, great cocktails and then a superb chocolate tart to finish. Really enjoyed ourselves in this excellent restaurant on the main square. Thoroughly recommend to all.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Allium Restaurant in Downham Market, and I must say, it was an absolute delight! From start to finish, every aspect of our experience was simply outstanding.
Let's start with the star of the show: the Sunday roast. It was nothing short of perfection. The tender, succulent meat, accompanied by a medley of perfectly roasted vegetables and fluffy Yorkshire puddings, made for a heavenly combination. Each bite was bursting with flavor and left us craving for more. The attention to detail and the culinary expertise displayed in this dish truly set Allium apart.
But the goodness didn't stop there. The starters we ordered were equally impressive. The flavors were bold and unique, and the presentation was top-notch. Each dish showcased the chef's creativity and passion for culinary excellence. It was evident that only the finest ingredients were used, resulting in a symphony of flavors that left our taste buds dancing with joy.
One aspect that truly amazed us was the exceptional value for money. Despite the high-quality food and impeccable service, the prices were surprisingly reasonable. Allium manages to strike the perfect balance between affordability and gourmet dining, making it an absolute gem for anyone looking for a memorable meal without breaking the bank.
Moreover, I want to commend the restaurant's booking system. Despite being a busy day, with it being Father's Day and all, the staff went above and beyond to accommodate our family party. Their professionalism and attentiveness ensured that our celebration was seamless and memorable. The entire staff was warm, friendly, and efficient, further enhancing our overall dining experience.
In conclusion, Allium Restaurant in Downham Market deserves every bit of praise it receives. The Sunday roast was faultless, the starters were exceptional, the value for money was remarkable, and the booking system was efficient. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone in search of a culinary adventure that will leave you with a smile on your face and a satisfied stomach.
Finally got the chance to visit this Downham Market absolute gem of family owned and run restaurant. Had lunch with my daughter and we decided to go for a simple light lunch, a sandwich, only to be welcomed by a wholesome meal. I had the club 26 sandwich and my daughter had the chicken and pesto one. Ingredients so fresh, tasty and superb quality, the bacon on my sandwich was lean and soooo flavoursome. We had chips and 4 coffees and finished with a beautiful super moist carrot cake to share as we were trully full. The staff and owner were so friendly, welcoming and attentive. The decor and general atmosphere makes it a superb luxurious London yet with the Norfolk charming hospitality experience at an accessible price. Thank you Allium for making lunch with my daughter a very special occasion 💞
A beautiful meal yet again last night. Staff work incredibly hard, they are welcoming and provide great service.
The food is wonderful. The atmosphere busy and warm, with lovely decor and music. So lovely to actually eat a meal in such a great restaurant.
Lovely food, 8 of us ate for a birthday lunch and we all said it was delicious. The Sloppy Joe was tasty and I was told the fish and chips was excellent 👌👍
Lovely place on the corner of what I assume is the old market square. Nice dark wooden interior, we had a great breakfast, the Spanish eggs were superb, good coffee, reason priced, friendly, lots of people popping in: Ons place for breakfast, tea, dinner or a drink. And excellent 70s soul music too, I have heard Heatwave in ages. Pop in!
Lovely little bistro/restaurant. We dropped by for lunch and the place had a real nice buzz.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was also delicious, will definitely return!
This place is well worth checking out. We went on a Thursday night for a late ish dinner and loved the atmosphere that accompanied our incredible food and drinks! The Sticky Pork Belly Bites were very impressive as we're the espresso martinis. . Very friendly and welcoming staff! A fantastic find, glad we found them so soon after opening 😊
Really friendly service, decor (especially in the loo!), very fine fish pie and very good (dense, meaty) burger. All well priced. The quality of what followed, was not quite obvious from the outside on a wet gloomy Saturday, but what followed was superb, unpretentious, cuisine and setting. Congratulations to Joe and his family team.
went to allium for the dinner menu, we arrived just before 6 when they were opening but were welcomed and told we could sit on any 2 table wed like to, I had the roasted supreme of guinea fowl, when I took a bite of this dish I nearly cried it was so good, I cannot stress enough how much effort went into our dishes, absolutely fantastic service as well from a young lady who made sure we were looked after to an excellent standard. only thing she didn't do was warn us how massive the Caramel sundae was before we ordered one each, we all had a good laugh at the size of them and they tasted amazing, the chef also came out front to ask us how everything was and was incredibly friendly, i will definitely be returning in the future.
The quality of food here is absolutely excellent, better than any equivalent place in Cambridge or nearby cities. I think one quite clever selling point is that you can either have a good sandwich at lunchtime, a burger if you're having a quicker meal, or, if you splash out a bit, really fine dining (rack of lamb, duck, fresh fish etc), and it's all delicious. Great wine list, ambience and fantastic service without being at all snooty.
I read a couple of reviews about it being 'cramped' but honestly, is absolutely normal when compared to restaurants in London or beyond (perhaps these folk are us d to sitting in a big booth in weather spoons!)
Love it, very lucky to have it so close by. Highly recommended!
I have just enjoyed a stunning chicken supreme. It honestly astounded me with the taste and texture! Great value and lovely service. My first visit, won’t be my last.
Lovely place. Delicious breakfast and really nice service. Wish I'd had enough time and tummy space for some of the fabulous cakes!
Lovely place and great food. Very impressed, will be happy to visit again...didn't have room to have a cake so that will be my plan for next time!!
This place was unbelievable!!! I highly recommend it, I’m from London and I haven’t ever tasted food like it, the seasoning, the flavours and the menu was amazing, I wish I could give them more stars then just 5, Thankyou for your amazing hospitality
Me and my partner have been dining at Allium since it opened, it's never failed to impress and leave us eager to return.
This time I had the Sloppy Joe burger, my GF had the Cromer Crab sandwich.
The food is always immaculate, fresh, full of flavour, great presentation, service is genuinely friendly and professional. Her crab sandwich was absolutely to die for, rivalling anything she could have got at the coast, bursting with freshness and goodness. My burger was again superb, and unique enough to always look forwards to it. And then we couldn't walk past the cakes on the way out, again as good as anything you'd find at a quality artisan bakery.
Allium remains one of the best reasons to live locally.
The most beautiful food - we had fillet steak and chicken supreme both were so nice (the pictures speak for themselves!), we would definitely go back!
The place was very clear....The staff very friendly. The. Food was delicious. No complaint just praise.
Thank you for a yummy lunch.
