Had a fabulous walk with the dogs along the river bank, ending up in the Heron for lunch. Excellent menu choice, fabulous food and portion size, wide range of drinks, helpful and friendly bar staff! Definitely a pub we will be returning too
Stumbled across this little pub today, food and service was excellent. Would go as far to say it was the best scampi and chips I've ever had. Lovely little beer garden next to the river to enjoy the sun and drinks, well done guys

Good home cooked food with lots of fresh vegetables. Great setting by the river. Good for all ages, Friendly owners,always make you welcome. Do try the ribs.

Booked a table for 6 on a Saturday lunchtime. We were greeted warmly and shown to our table with lots of natural light as requested. Good choice of real ale kicked off a very pleasant lunch.
The servers were helpful, courteous and attentive.
The food was of good quality and the special sizzling dish looked lovely. I had the double pork cutlet. We all had starters but to be honest that part of the menu could do with a bit of a lift as not the most exciting. Two of our group ordered the meat platter to share. Looked good but not sure I would have wanted potato wedges on my starter. It would have made a good main course for one though.
The decor was lovely and the room bright and airy.
In the area and looking for somewhere to eat? Would highly recommend.
Child and dog friendly though I think all children have to be kept on a lead (or was that the dogs) 😁

Booked a table for four to have Sunday roast ( after doing a buggy ride at watatunga wildlife reserve nearby ) we were seated and served quickly by Abi , the food was good quality and the quantity was just right , the decor is lovely and the restaurant clean and fresh , plenty of tables inside and out and fenced off from the river except the gateway to the jetty , would recommend this pub and will visit again when in the area 👍👍👍
Lovely food, great portions for Sunday lunch. Good value for money. The restaurant is bigger than expected. The front bar area is cosy and well decorated. This is what you call a destination restaurant. The vegetarian roast was very good. Staff were friendly and attentive
The Heron is set by the River Ouse so can be quite picturesque when sitting outside. Longboats are able to moor up and take advantage on what this public house has to offer. It has many outside seating areas but there is some noise from passing traffic.
The staff are very friendly and extremely helpful. I thoroughly recommend the mushroom stroganoff and the pan fried sea bass. It was superb and compliments go to the chef.
It's a place that's always worth a re visit.

I had dinner here last night with two friends and we were all so impressed!!!! The meal was fantastic; I had the ribeye and it was absolutely delicious and my friend had the most enormous, tasty homemade steak and ale pie. We were blown away by the portion sizes and overall quality of the food. A wonderful, relaxed and cosy setting with plenty of atmosphere. This was our first visit to The Heron but we will be back whenever we visit friends in the area. It is very clear to see how passionate Tracey is about her business; we had such amazingly friendly, attentive service. I wouldn't hesitate to return and next time I would definitely consider staying over in the B&B accommodation. If you are looking for a lovely local or a beautiful stop off on your trip, I couldn't recommend this place enough! You're doing a great job, Tracey, wishing you every success 🥰
Very nice Restaurant the Sunday Roast was very tasty. The main menu is very good.
Great friendly pub with awesome home cooked food. The only downside is how far it is from where I live, but really worth the hours drive each way. It is a very special place, a bit of a rarity nowadays.
Had a wonderful roast here today. Very busy booking is a must. Not rushed (which I like ,nothing worse than having one plate replaced straight away with your desert ). This pub has been updated very nicely.

This is consistently my favourite pub around King's Lynn/Downham for roasts or any food. Today we can for a roast, were served promptly and the food was delicious!
