Came highly recommended therefore had to try it! Had a lovely feel to the place warm friendly and relaxing but gave you a sense food would be good, they didn't disappoint. Superb menu choice all locally sourced produce, good variety for the kids and adults alike. All the staff very friendly and professional, great cocktails. Sam, front of house made you feel very welcome as soon as you stepped in the door and she knew her stuff whilst Simon her partner delivered great plates of food from the kitchen you could tell he had been professionally trained. Special mention about the Moules, which I had, best I have eaten and the Chickpea and Beetroot burger was a must according to my daughter, in fact it was all excellent, Liked it so much the first night went back again and managed to sneak in a cheeky take away of fish and chips in between. To me it's the sort of place you want to pick up and put in your own village and be proud of it. Cheers Blue Plate loved the whole experience and thanks for my steak it was lovely and the limoncello well what can I say Hope to see you again. Jamie, Jill, Carrie and Cameron Mitchell.

After a very long journey to our holiday let, we went to the blue plate to grab some dinner, the chef had closed the kitchen because it was so late but he very kindly made us up 3 plates of cold meats, quiche and salad, and I've got to tell you , it was amazing, where most restaurants would turn you away if you were too late, the blue plate welcomed us with open arms and delicious food. Thank you so much guys, a very well deserved 5* rating .

We visited 3 times throughout our week stay in Downderry. We had a cream tea which was lovely, takeaway pizzas which were the best pizzas we have had outside of Italy!! And we had an amazing meal there on our final night! The staff are very friendly and the food is fantastic! Highly recommended!!

Excellent little sea food restaurant, in the south coast line of Cornwall, exactly what you want when you think of having fresh fish by the sea. Food was fresh and very tasty, service is good and friendly. Definitely would recommend it to anyone in the area, although I think is worth visiting if you are in a close town.

This restaurant is really little gem in Dawnderry. The food was absolutely delicious, fresh and made from local resources with love. The service was just perfect, smiley all the time. There's also little shop with local products and hand made stuff. Highly recommend to everyone. Definitely want to visit again during next stay in Cornwall.

Lovely place close to Downderry beach with good selection of food. Great lunch menu and some very tasty brownies from the deli. Our daughter loves to pop in for a scoop of raspberry sorbet after a walk on the beach.

Had a lovely lunch here, probably the best mussels I've had; absolutely huge, beautifully cooked, amazing flavour in the most delicious sauce and no grit whatsoever. The chips were also clearly freshly cooked, beautifully crispy and not over salted. The staff were clearly busy and incredibly short staffed but did a fantastic job making sure we were okay and enjoying everything. Even provided a dog bed and dog treats.

We recently visited Downderry for a short break. We ate at the Blue plate restaurant twice it was absolutely fantastic.. We were looked after so well, all the staff were charming and efficient. The food was out of this world, service was to perfection. A special mention to the owners who went out of there way to make sure they could accommodate us and to Harry for waiting on us and giving such friendly banter, making our evening fun. We will definitely be returning.

The food was excellent. Superb mussels for example. We had two courses each with bottle of white for £70. Not cheap but good value. Service was good although they struggled as the place filled up. A definite positive recommendation!

Picked up a takeaway after a walk on the beach. My son had the cured meats pizza - lovely thin and crispy base with tasty and well balanced toppings. I had the fish and chips, which were delicious, fish was lovely and flaky with a thin and crispy batter, thick cut chips were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside and loved the tartar sauce too. We'll be trying the homemade burgers next time. 😋

Wonderful find for a coffee stop. Delicious selection of cakes and friendly staff. The restaurant area looked inviting and there's a lovely range of local gins and gifts. It was a very pleasant way to pass a torrential rain storm outside!

Food was nice overall. Bread selection was very tasty. Kids meals could have offered more vegetables even if they are a side dish and chips were too salty for a children's meal. Staff were very nice and helpful. Menu was confusing. Toilets were clean and pretty.

Truly fantastic - best meal in a long time! The staff are amazing, so attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. The food was delicious - pricy but worth every penny! If you have the opportunity to order lobster, just do it! We had the immense pleasure of meeting the chef - was lovely of him to come out and visit the tables. A hidden gem in such a small unassuming village. 5*.

Excellent customer service, delicious food. Perfect scallops, delicate brown crab risotto and the most amazing dessert, the Chocolate Pot, blew me away. One of the best restaurants I've ever visited. Definitely coming back here again!

The staff are really welcoming and knowledgeable, very exuberant about the fresh local produce and the care they take in delivering a great experience. The food was genuinely remarkable, with home-made condiments. Great selection of guns, ales & wine. I will return.

Hello. we have a holiday home in Downderry and wanted to have a night out to experience one of the best regarded local restaurants. The Blue Plate has a warm and welcoming atmosphere the staff are attentive and helpful, and the owner/ manageress,Sam, is a welcoming hostess who knows her kitchen and menu very well. The food was delicious, and the bread olives and dips provided as table starters was excellent..a varied menu i had the risotto the veggie option which was excellent and hot enough to melt the plate just right!! Lots of the other guests were returnees and were enjoying special occasions..there is an excellent wine list too...all in all a very good experience and worth a detour...!
