50's style diner in Southend on sea. Loved the single chicken BBQ burger, with coleslaw, and sweet potato fries. We had a banana milkshake and I had a raspberry milkshake. Really good meal, thoroughly enjoyed it 😘

It has been over a few years since me and my wife came to Bobby Jo's and it was kind of how we remembered it, the food was great, the milkshakes were amazing and to to top it off the dessert was the icing on the cake. From the staff being friendly to a lovely 50's decor, I would recommend coming to Bobby Jo's.

Me and my partner had spent the night staying in Southend and visiting the theater. Needed a well deserved, fully cooked breakfast. I had the Truck Stop breakfast (usually comes with beans and tomatoes) was so tasty. Great services, very quick for the food to come out too. Loved the decor and the music was right up my street. Highly recommend, and very reasonably priced. They do all sorts, from milkshakes to cocktails... and burgers etc. Will definitely return to try these out.

On a Sunday afternoon with free Christmas parking opposite I was expecting the place to be buzzing, however it was empty, there were 2 staff looking very bored. Menus are a bit worn, the interior is fabulous and looks so good for an American diner. The menu is extensive and having followed the venue on social media for years I had big expectations. The Mac and cheese was watery, it hadn't been grilled either like the photos show on previous reviews, the chicken tenders are small, the curly fries were on the wrong burger tray (easily fixable), 2 of our drinks were forgotten for a good 15 mins. We were the only people in the restaurant but didn't feel like we got great service, we weren't asked about anything else, eg more drinks (we had to ask for more napkins). A very disappointing visit but can see huge potential! The vegan options are immense and the not 'chicken' option was fabulous.

Went here for breakfast before going out for my Grandsons 3rd birthday. Great place, love the American dinner feel, with 50's music and memorabilia. Breakfast was good value. Definitely worth it if you're going to Sea Life Adventure across the road

All of the waitresses were so friendly! Completely happy to help and always smiling. The decor is terrific and the food was gorgeous (my friend still hasn't stopped talking about his chicken and Mac and cheese burger! He loved It!) 😊 we'll be coming back for sure

Popped in for a quick drink at lunchtime, and wasn’t sure what to expect but got lovely service and welcome. Kids were delighted with their shakes/ice cream/hot dog and we liked our coffees/ice cream. Really pleasantly surprised and we will return. 👍

Amazing choice of vegan junk food, lovely staff, great atmosphere and a wonderful experience. They’d sold out of their vegan ice cream so couldn’t do any vegan milkshakes but that just makes me want to go back to try a vegan snickers milk shake another time. Definitely worth visiting.

Today I went to @bobby_jos_diner to review their gorgeous food 😋😋😋 on arrival I was greeted by the very friendly lady behind the counter and made to feel so welcome. The interior was absolutely stunning I literally felt I was in a proper American diner in the US ! I was given the St Louis hot dog to try which is basically a monster hot dog🤣 it obviously includes the sausage 🤣 and it has Bbq pulled pork, crispy onion bits, bbq sauce, and lots of melted cheese and it sure is a bludy monster 🤣🤣 I also had a portion of their beautiful crinkle cut chips with it too. On the first look at the hot dog I was terrified thinking how the hell will I manage that and where do I start ! But I sure managed it 🤷🏻‍♀️🤣 very messy but just how I love it !!! The hot dog sure as hell had it going on a huge concoction of flavours right there and all of them together made it taste so delicious !! The sausage itself was so tasty and meaty and fresh and nice and hot, the onions lovely and crispy, the bun very soft and fresh and the bbq pulled pork literally melted in my mouth.. absolutely gorgeous !! The crinkled chips were lovely and fresh and cooked to perfection not under cooked not overdone - just perfect. All in all the food was great and I fully recommend @bobby_jos_diner to all who live around. #southend or who will visit in the future. They have an incredible menu of burgers, pancakes, waffles and so much more amazing stuff as well as lots of food challenges too !! Definitely not one to be missed. Thank you guys 🔥🔥😋😋 #foodstagram #foodsofinstagram #essexfoodblogging #essexfoodblogger #foodblogger #essex #london #basildon #instafood #foodie #hotdogsofinstagram #hotdogs #hotdogs🌭 #followforfollowback #follow4followback #likeforlikes #like4likes #thorpebay #canveyisland #leighonsea #wickford #witham #southendfood #southendfoodie #southendonsea #southendonseaessex #southendonseabusiness #americandiner #hotdoglovers🔥🔥🔥🔥

Came here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon with my partner and two little ones. Service was fine, food arrived in a reasonable time, well presented and nicely portioned. The burgers were excellent although the chicken on all the dishes was a little over cooked, aside from this, a very nice meal

Went for dinner for our anniversary. Service was great, staff all really friendly, lots of choice on the menu and brilliant that pretty much all of the menu can be made as a vegan dish! Would recommend.

The best mac 'n' cheese this American has had since coming to the UK. Great Bacon double cheeseburgers with so much flavor. My son loved his ice cream float and oreo milkshake. Fantastic, friendly service. Jukebox playing old favorites and the pink and mint green decor promises a 50s diner. Promises were kept. We will return!

Stopped here on our first night in Southend as didn't want to have fish and chips for our tea. Really impressed with not just the place itself but the food and the service. If you grew up in the late seventies and early eighties you probably saw tv shows and movies that featured fifties American Diners and this place is a great modern example of one. When we visited our waitress was really great, not intrusive as you can sometimes get. She just kept an eye out and was ready to take our orders as soon as we'd decided what to have. The menu is definitely not suitable for someone on a diet but who wants to go to a diner and eat a lettuce leaf. All of our food came out freshly prepared and pretty quickly. Whilst not full there were quite a few other diners so I'd say that even if all the tables were packed there shouldn't be much of a delay between ordering and getting your food. Will definitely visit again the next time we stay in Southend.

Me and my partner visited Bobby Jo’s Diner for breakfast on my birthday and the service was lovely. We were greeted at the door and our order was taken quickly and our food arrived promptly. It was absolutely delicious and the waitress even put candles in my pancakes and sung happy birthday which was brilliant. I’m gutted I couldn’t finish my pancakes but they were amazing. If ever we come back to Southend we will most definitely pop back in here.
