A delicious meal in a lovely restaurant. We had curry with rice and naan bread and our daughter had pakora, all were delicious. The owner was very friendly and attentive making jokes with our daughter to keep her entertained. Would recommend either a take away or a sit in meal here, food was excellent. 🙂

We enjoyed our dinner. Chicken curry rice and Nan all lovely. Chips were ok. £10 delivery to grannies hellin hame without prior notice seems excessive. Lost a star due to that.

Highland Hidden Gem! It’s your final night in the Highlands of Scotland, and you've just run out gas for your camp stove, what do you do? Well, if you're anywhere near the lovely little town of Dornoch, you should definitely stop by Highland Spice!!! Having been turned away by a local pub-restaurant who were "Fully booked" (despite only one table being occupied?!), we decided to hunt down this hidden Highland gem. It's tucked away a few mins walk from the main road, behind the big hotel and houses and just around the corner from student accommodation (big win for the students)! The proprietor was warm and welcoming, showing us to a table by the window. The furnishings were tasteful and clean, and we were soon perusing a menu that was both comprehensive and detailed - something sadly lacking in most Indian restaurants. Our order was taken with efficiency and courtesy, and within no time at all we were tucking in to our delicious starters! Two of us had the Chicken Pakora, with obligatory poppadoms and sauce tray. This was then followed by a mains of the sumptuously rich Makhani, full of flavour and a delight on the palate. Not being one for rice, this was paired with a side bowl of perfectly fried golden chips, both of which were shamefully left unfinished due to eyes being bigger than belly! As someone who has to be careful around spicy foods, I'm quite particular about Indian restaurants, and this is definitely in my top 2! It's just a shame it's so far from home! Massive thanks to the host and chef, who could not do more for us and provided some delicious food to a trio of weary travellers.

Went to Highland Spice for the first time even although I've lived in Dornoch for two years. Shame it's not on Castle Street as it's a gem. Staff curteous and cheerful, willing to help over and above. Absolutely loved the food, aromatic and reasonably priced. A glass of wine is actually a glass of wine and not a fingerful at the bottom of a vase :) Definitely going back soon. Open when other restaurants are closed. Check it out.

The owner went above and beyond when three hungry, tired and only a little drunk golfers turned up just before closing time. Lovely guy and delicious food. Always like supporting local businesses.

I am only referring to the Chip shop Highland chippy, fish supper £8, you can get a smaller one for £5, everything is freshly cooked so you may want ring before hand, but even so a vast improvement on timings and taste.

We ordered via phone and picked up. I couldn't find a proper menu online but were only staying round the corner so popped and took photos of the menu displayed in the window earlier in the day. There's a very large menu with practically every dish you can think of listed.  Along with lots and lots of specials. Friendly chap answered the phone and was told it would be ready in 20-25 minutes. True to their word it was ready on time and piping hot. I ordered a madras which had a good level of heat a very red rich sauce and plenty of chicken. My husband ordered a Kerala special with lamb and whilst nice it was practically a korma and some parts of the lamb were a bit tough. Peshwari naan was a very bright orange colour inside. Not seen one this colour before but it tasted OK. Shared a boiled rice. Total cost £29.65 for 2 mains, 2 bread and one rice. Nice average curry.
