Arrived during a downpour Friday 1pm. A member of staff must have seen us approaching, opened the door and cheeky greeted us. It was warm with a cosy log fire. Although a big mosh are it somehow didn’t seem crowded. Had a fabulous Carvery Roast. They let my hubby try a taste of the beef, as he’s fussy about tough meat. It was the best tenderest beef we’d had for a long time, I had pork and it was lovely too. A good range of veg and accompaniments, everything nice and hot as were the plates. The youths hire puddings were perfect too. Much the best and cheapest Carvery I’ve had. 😊👍🏼

Lovely Crab Thermidor and Peach Melba Creme Brûlée, a totally enjoyable meal and very attentive staff, would thoroughly recommend.

Visited The Sun yesterday and had a lovely experience! Staff were very attentive and friendly. Very Good value for money as huge portion..you won't go hungry! Had a delicious main and pudding, of which you could tell were cooked and made from scratch. Would definitely visit again when in the area :)
We arrived unbooked yesterday (sunday) 6 of us 12.30.... fully booked till 4pm..however they bent over backwards to fit us in ...we sat up on the barrels had a fab aftnoon, cracking carvey with aĺl the staff havin a laugh n joke with us all... will defffo book the barrels again ! Visited on the off chance we could get a seat on New Years Eve afternoon on our way to Weymouth.
We were very lucky, they accommodated us willingly and we were treated to a home cooked carvery and some gorgeous pudding!

Visited The Sun Inn whilst staying in a holiday cottage 5 mins walk away. We booked in for a second time that week because we enjoyed it so much!
Highly recommend the carvery, it was delicious. Can’t fault the staff, they were all lovely and so attentive. Great atmosphere, and great pub in general. Would suggest booking in advance because it’s very popular.

Just happened on this place on our way through. Brilliant staff and service. Good choice of food. A free house with good beers on tap. Comfortable. Candles on the tables leant to a good atmosphere. Loved it!
I had a delightful dining experience at The Sun Inn in Dorchester with my mother. We savored the Beer Battered cod and chips, which were absolutely delicious. The staff was exceptionally friendly and welcoming throughout our visit. Overall, it was a lovely experience, and I highly recommend this place for a wonderful meal and warm hospitality.
Second visit because the first was fantastic. I had a carvery on my first visit with my uncle, and it was devine, and so was the dessert to top it off. Good sized meals 😋
Second time round I had a start and main and it was equally satisfactory and the good is always exquisite and breathtaking to eat. Koodles to the chefs. The waitress was very friendly, welcoming, and pleasant and even asked if there were any dietary requirements, which is always good 👍
Overall, I love visiting for food, and the atmosphere of being able to eat is pleasurable.
I would go as far as to say one of the best Carverys and Pubs in the whole of the UK.
We have been dining here and recommending the Sun Inn to family and friends for over 13 years.
Food, drinks and service are ALWAYS excellent, staff friendly and welcoming, and whole place could not be more perfect....what more could you want?.
I do recommend you book for a Sunday lunch a week in advance as so popular.....though we have always found they have space for us when we have just turned up.

Lovely old traditional country pub. Good selection of ales and excellent food. Carvery is available at certain times of the day. Beer garden is good for summer.
Food and service were both absolutely exemplary. We shared a Camembert to start and this was exceptional, as was the steak burger. I asked for cheese on the chips with the burger and a generous amount was provided. Service was so quick and so friendly, particularly Vinny who was so lovely. A perfect place for a lovely evening meal
Book early as this place is really popular , not surprising as it's fresh excellent food , reasonable prices and plenty of it.
The very friendly staff go out their way to check all is well, and make your experience a pleasant one so you can tell all your friends what a great place it really is.
