We are on holiday in Weymouth and came to Dorchester for the day and discovered this lovely cafe. Food was delicious and even my fussy daughter polished off her jacket potato! Service was really efficient and the staff really friendly. Would definitely recommend and will come here again if we're ever in Dorchester.

This place is delicious. We first visited on a very cold day a few years ago and the open fire, polite staff and yummy food was greatly received. As we were in the area again we had to come back, wonderful homemade soup and good tea. For us it’s ace, the dog is welcome too... we got doggy biscuits on our first visit though.

We stumbled upon this whilst wandering around the shops and was so pleased we did, it’s a little gem of a cafe. The carrot cake was the best we’ve ever tasted. Will definitely revisit next time we’re in Dorchester.

Found this place by accident and decided to have family brunch. It was a great decision, great vibe to the place, real quality food, proper sausages, delicious bacon, couldn't have been better. Lovely polite service too. Kids loved it too so we are hoping to come back tomorrow (are you open bank holiday???)

Delicious broccoli and Stilton soup , with door stops of fresh granary bread! All beside a cosy log fire. Best place to pop into when it's freezing outside and your feeling hungry!

Charming Cafe situated in the heart of Dorchester. Very spacious on 2 floors, good variety of menu. My husband and I popped in today with our son. The staff were very friendly.

Potters cafe is easy to miss, tucked down a side street off the main drag, but it's a bit of a hidden gem. There is seating upstairs as well as a beautiful garden. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and prompt with serving. Their is a selection of regular lunch time options as well as cooked breakfasts and a ever changing specials board. The food is always excellent quality and large portions. I ordered the batters cod with chips and salad (see photo). The fish was good, fresh and the batter was wonderful, chips were pretty good too however could have done with a few seconds less in the frier. Prices are on the more expensive side however I think the food warrants it. Over all great place for lunch after working up and appetite shopping.

After hearing good things about this café/restaurant we popped in with my mother and were not disappointed. We enjoyed the ambiance, the service was good with friendly staff, who had a nice sense of humour. The cakes were delicious and the coffee was perfectly to our taste.

We popped in today for lunch. Was very busy but very nice lady said come back I ten minutes and had table reserved for us. Open fire was going and atmosphere was lovely in there. Food was absolutely amazing and very generous portions. This might just be my new favourite cafe in town. Merry Christmas everyone.

A lovely place to have lunch or just a hot drink. They were very busy on the day we visited and they had some tables that were reserved. They were very accommodating and patient with my elderly mother who had a 3 wheel rollator and my aunt who had a shopping trolley. It can be quite crowded if you have any disability aids and a wheelchair would struggle to get into the front as it is an old building. But I'm sure that they would assist you if you needed help. The service was excellent and they remained cheerful despite being rushed off their feet. There was an amazing choice of meals ranging from sandwiches to a full sized meal. The portions were generous and the hot chocolate was delicious. There are outside tables and an upstairs section as well. I would recommend booking in advance if you're in a large party or need wheelchair access.

Loved this place so much we went 3 times in all. The food was amazing and the prices really reasonable. The staff were excellent; friendly and very efficient and the place itself is lovely. We were fortunate to have the weather to sit outside twice and their courtyard is lovely. We did look into other cafes but decided that we would rather be at the Potters and next time we are in Dorchester we will certainly be back

A lucky find! Passing through Dorchester and stopped for a coffee and came across this gem. Good coffee, which is always a plus, but we're seduced by some seriously BIG sponge cakes. Shared a slice of coffee and walnut cake and it was excellent. Friendly and attentive staff. Bistro layout on two floors. Seemed to be popular, unsurprisingly.

We had an excellent Irish stew (I'm Irish!) and sat in the lovely walled garden (in October). The food is always very good - imaginative and varied - and the staff are always friendly and welcoming

I have given 5 stars to the two things I have reviewed and I may have been a little too nice however this little place is a 5 star cafe, it’s tucked down a side street we were lucky to find it, we ate in the garden which was a lovely surrounding and I was able to feed my family of five for less than fifty pounds the staff were helpful and friendly, food was really nice and portion sizes were good keeping my gannets (children) quite and full. Would recommend and will return on our next trip to Dorchester.

We came across this delightful cafe hidden down a little street. A warm welcome and dog friendly. Excellent service, friendly helpful staff, tasty food and great home made cakes on offer. Tried Dorset Apple Cake for the first time. Delicious! Highly recommend. It may look busy downstairs but more tables available upstairs.
