We'll start with the negatives... a couple in our party thought the rice was a little crunchy and said they'd had better elsewhere... I thought it was perfectly acceptable personally speaking.
We'd eaten numerous times at another asian restaurant in Armthorpe and although the food was always nice I resent those all too frequent occasions when I've had to wait 40 minutes past my booking time to get a table....no such problems with Shimla.
Seated within a minute of arrival even though the restaurant was busy....great start. The service was attentive, yet not intrusive and you never felt that you were being hurried towards the exit to make way for the next booking.
Pickle tray to start.... lovely... but what is the gorgeous deep red sauce called? My party loved that particularly.
Starters were excellent - I always judge a restaurant by it's sheek kebab... this was very nice and didn't disappoint.
The mains were Great, flavoursome and to my mind the perfect size. My top tip? Try the garlic chilli chicken... to die for!
So there's no alcohol licence but you can bring your own... the soft drinks are reasonably priced and it won't kill you not to have a belly full of ale once in a while.
9/10.... We'll be back!
I have eaten here for ten years, firstly when it was just a takeaway, through to the small restaurant, through to the extended place it is today. It is, without exception (in my opinion), the best Indian food I have had the pleasure to eat. The fact it is on my door step is a bonus. Add the quality of food to the quality of service and this can not have enough stars added to their "A" grade. a*************** Sheb and his team are amazing. This Indian restaurant is the best in Armthorpe and Doncaster. The food is excellent the service is second to none even on the busiest nights, it is inexpensive due to their bring your own alcohol policy, the decor and ambience is very tasteful and the staff are so friendly and professional, I would recommend this restaurant for any occasion.
New Years Day - family meal at Shimla...
As always excellent service and amazing food... We highly recommend Shimla and I can take my Favourite wine too...
One of the best Indian meals I've ever had. Lovely decor and great service. The food was very tasty and hot. Will definately be going again.

Our favourite Indian. We travel from Sheffield to eat here. The food, atmosphere and staff are great and the recent renovations make it even better. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Shimla to anyone x

It is our favourite place to eat. We visit regularly and have never been disappointed. We never feel rushed and the staff are always friendly
We had takeaway for 6 people. Everyone really enjoyed their curry. Two of the group are vegetarian and really like the very dishes. The group always order from Shimla when we want an indian. Good portion size.
Not eaten in the restaurant but it's a nice clean, modern set up and looks like a nice place to eat.

Fantastic food, large portions, great atmosphere and decoration, friendly service what more do I need to say. Shimla is now my favourite restaurant in Doncaster. Nearly forgot the menu is huge with some great and unusual dishes. Try it I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
Could not ask for better, food gorgeous, staff very helpful, delivery drivers very pleasant. All round great service, definitely recommend.
This is our favorite restaurant. Food and staff amazing . Went for our Christmas Day lunch and it was beautiful. Highly recommend this wonderful restaurant
This was my first visit here after enjoying many delicious takeouts.
The food was amazing as always the onion Bhaji's are the best I have ever had.
For main I had Chicken rogan josh again beautifully presented & tasted wonderful. Here you take your own alcohol as they don't have a drinks licence. I can highly recommend here & will definately be going back xx
Staff so friendly brilliant bunch. Food is fantastic plus bring your own alcohol means lower price bills at the end of the evening. All round good restaurant

Been to quite a few Indian restaurants in the past and I have to admit that I'm impressed with Shimla. Excellent service from all the friendly staff who are always smiling. Very good freshly cooked food here that doesn't hurt the pocket and I recommend you should try. There are vegetarian options for the kids kes of my other half. All in all a great night out and I'll definitely be going there again

Had our first delivery from Shimla and couldn't fault it !! It was delivered on time , the food was delicious and plenty of it - I will definitely be using them again and would strongly recommend ☺️☺️
Our second takeaway from Shimla and this one was the best ever! Had 2 of the specialities with accompaniments and they did not disappoint!! Our new favourite Indian takeaway that deliver to our area which is hard to find! Thank you to all the staff and merry Christmas
One of the best in town and beyond. Excellent service, beautiful meals, and allowing you to bring your own booze is just a cherry on top. Dont change!

Had a amazing meal here but the service let it down by passing the food down over 3 people when he could of just walked around the table and placed it in front off the guest
Our takeaway tonight was first class. Delivered on time, balti dishes delicious, all sundry items fresh and tasty. Love this restaurant
