I love it when you say "come on let's go and try somewhere new" and you come across somewhere like Zammuto's.
I, like a lot of people looked at the menu when deciding where to go and thought why so cheap? Everyone likes a bargain these days but I don't want to ruin one of the few nights out we have by being too thrifty. Should we just go to the 'other' steakhouse that's very close that I've been to previously who, in all honesty serve great food!!?
Well, as my opening statement may indicate, we're glad we didn't opt out!!
Now, don't get me wrong there are a few things that weren't particularly to our liking such as the slightly uncomfortable pallet style high back seating booths with a thin (ours slightly aged) seat pad. But these things are very minor and not enough to even mention to the staff at the time, who I am sure would have made an immediate effort to correct. I only mention in hope that the owners read and consider an improvement so this doesn't restrict business in future and allows customers to focus on the quality of food being served.
And on that note, we opened the evening with a bottle of valpolicella and a bruschetta starter, which was very nicely assembled and testament to the fact that simple things done well can be a real asset to the menu. Plus I love garlic and this will certainly keep people who don't, away from you for a few hours/days!!
We then had the 8oz fillet and also the surf and turf with upgraded 10oz steak. Both steaks were amazing quality and cooked exactly as we had asked. I loved the butterflied king prawn in what tasted like a Chinese style/five spice oil and it went well with my order and sides. Some of the sides are modest portions however, you need to try the garlic mushrooms and the fratelli carrots!!!
Because the main course wasn't a total "gluttony fest" and we hadn't eaten in anticipation of the night out, we also opted for a dessert, tiramisu and the lemon tart with ice cream. No arguments there for us, the tart won hands down. Would be interested to know if this was made by the restaurant or bought in!?! But either way, who cares as it tasted fantastic and finished the evening off well!!
"We don't serve fast food, we serve great food"
Yes they do, they really do. So if you're going out and want to sample, what we sensed, to be carefully selected food, cooked amazing with clear culinary links to Italian food then give Zammuto's a go, you won't be disappointed and you might even find a new favourite steakhouse!!
Had a very nice meal here the day before valentine's. I had the fillet steak and partner had the lamb cutlets. Both meals were delicious and the steak in particular was amazing.
Great family run restaurant. Visited on recommendation of a colleague and the steaks are beautifully cooked and fantastic value.
Had the 10oz fillet with aragona sauce, onion rings and sweet potato fries, delicious!
Amazing food every time amazing staff and cheap won’t get a better steak
Absolutely beautiful, the food was perfect, perfectly cooked steaks at such a good price, all the sides was excellent the sauces beautiful such good flavours in each one, hats off to you guys, such lovely staff, going above and beyond, will definitely be returning. Outstanding!!!
One of the best steaks I've had. Great place to eat, reasonably priced
This is the review for Zammutos
When I walked in I could tell this place means business when our menus were already lined out in a neat line at a table of 7, unfortunately kyle made it which did almost make me sunny dan and Tom turn around and go to McDonald’s. The waiter Was not English, no brownie points from me there #brexit. For starters I had a lamb greco a French dish it came with 2 trimmed lamb cutlets grilled to perfection! The mint yogurt was almost a nice touch served on a warm plate it was oh so delicious, the meat fell off the bone just like jordan sancho at United the flavour was amazing probably one of the best lamb dish I have ever had! For mains I have a fillet of steak 10oz with chips and onion rings and a pepper corn sauce. The plate yet again was now and warm. Not hot to touch but a gentle touch of warm like a blanket, the steak was placed in the middle of the plate as the chips, sauce and onion came separate. the chips were just like any other chips noting special but just right, nice and golden on the outside it soft and fluffy inside just how chips should be. The oinon rings nice and crispy in a beer batter and the sauce was excellent. When I cut the steak the juice would leak out onto the plate as well as the drool dripping from my mouth as I open her up the tender of the steak was in full present a medium rare fillet steak at its finest, my 1st bite I felt the meat melt on my tongue the flavours was unbelievable I had to set my Cuttery down to take a moment to embrace the meat. 8/10
Nice decor and the service was very efficient. The steak was good but the small portions of "additional extras" ie chips, salad, onion rings, mushrooms etc at £3.20 per portion didn't fill us up.
The steaks in this place are the best i have had in Donny!
The chips were standard and tasted like frozen chips but overall the food was lovely and the restaurant is definitely the place to go. Reasonably priced menu!
Didn't have a dessert so can't comment.
Be mindful it is cash only....no card payments. We will go again!
I went to Zammuto Streak House last night with my wife as I was working in Doncaster.
It was really busy which is a good sign.
There was a mix up with our ticket for the order and it took over an hour before we got our Lamb starters but I can say it was well worth the wait as it was the best lamb I have ever tasted.
The fillet steak was also fantastic and the staff apologised for the mix up and gave us a discount which was really nice.
I would definitely come here again if I am in Doncaster.
Lovely place with wonderful service along with great food at excellent value for money. Everthing from the welcome to the desserts was just perfect. Thank you 👍👏
A fantastic little gem run by a great team who love to make your night and treat your taste buds.
Do not make the mistake of passing this restaurant without calling in, but may well have to book first...what a treat
I’m humbled by the quality I was subjected too! The Filet Steak with Blue Cheese and Palma Ham was exquisite!! You couldn’t dress Claudia Schiffer’s lady garden in Palma Ham and Blue Cheese, and it wouldn’t come close! Fantastic!! It’s cash only, but please don’t forget the carrots! Claudia loves a carrot!!
Possibly the best steak I've ever had and great value for money.
Absolutely brilliant here, the food is first class every time we come here, the staff very welcoming and friendly, can't fault anything with this place, it perfect 👍
Lovely food and good atmosphere. Friendly service and food were served very quickly. Would recommend 👌
Delicious food with reasonable prices, all drinks served by the bottle/glass - no beer pumps but a wide selection of wines and beers. Cash only
So cheap and so good. Best steak house in Doncaster!!!
