Best steak I've had! I ordered the cowboy on the bone rib eye, Medium-rare. Seasoned and cooked to absolute perfection! I would have happily paid triple for the quality that was provided. My wife had the burger which was also beautifully cooked and delicious! Friendly and attentive staff, would recommend to anyone and everyone!

Honestly, best steak I've ever had in my whole life. I'm not even saying it. Everything was absolutely delicious. Me and three friends came to Wales for the weekend and one friend recommended this place. I got the 12oz cowboy ribeye medium-rare and it was absolutely amazing. Cooked to perfect, seasoned perfectly and just downright delicious. Service was fantastic and everyone was lovely. The decor of the place was beautiful and cute-old-timey.

Nice little steakhouse. Staff were friendly but rushed off their feet due to a no show. But they apologised and were easy to call over if needed. Food quality was good, but not excellent but we were all happy when we left. Some large cuts of steak available for sharers or particularly hungry people. We are local now so I'm sure we will be back.
At the time of posting they were only accepting cash payment, so check when booking if that is needed. There are banks nearby if an ATM is required.

Whilst visiting North Wales for a break away and revisiting places I had gone to some 35 years ago as a kid we were looking for somewhere nice to eat and found this delightful place. Having done a very limited amount of research, reading reviews, we decided this was the place for us and to be honest we were not disappointed, the food and service was exceptional and really good value for money. Fabulous meal, compliments to the chefs and the two young ladies serving were an absolute credit to the establishment!
Can we also tip our hats in respect to the owner who's answers to some of the "feedbacks" on here are simply brilliant! We need more people like John who tell it like it is!

Reasonable food and price. Really enjoyed my “Death by Chocolate” dessert. Excellent service with cosy indoor and pleasant outdoor seating. Do take note they only accept cash.

One of the few restaurants with covered outdoor seating. One way system. Cash only. Waitresses were trying their best they can given how busy it was. Food is good ( but wouldn't rave about it). Wide range of selection in the menu and portion is good. Burger was nice and garlic bread was freshly baked. The churros looks good but I was too full and didn't get the chance to try it

Great parking but restaurant it's self lacks a bit of a soul. Feels mediocre and like a boring cafe. Food and steaks are fantastic though, cooked just as you like it and great chips. Easy to find, definitely Worth a visit.

Philly steak was amazing and the garlic bread was unbelivable at least someone use good quality cheese and not some cheap one.

The steak was great!
We had the medium ribeye with chips and potatoes, and it was delicious. I lower the rating to four stars, due to our buttered vegetables not tasting buttery, and being slightly overcooked. Also, the toilet was a typical pub toilet.
Overall, The Gatehouse Steakhouse was a gem.

A very nice resturant is a lovely setting.
Starters of Whitebait and Salt and Pepper Pork were fantastic.
Tomohawk and fillet steak were great cuts of meat, only criticism there was the chargrilled taste slightly overpowered the meat.
Overall a very nice night out and reasonably priced.

Honestly the best meal We’ve ever had!! (And we’ve ate at a lot of places) The service, atmosphere and even the music was perfect, couldn’t fault this place! We are staying in Dolgellau for a few days and thought we would try here after it being recommended by the hotel we are staying in nearby, 10/10 would visit again and 100% recommend! We had the gatehouse burger and the glazed BBQ ribs and these we’re great value for money, also the portion sizes are huge and I was gutted that I couldn’t finish it all as it was so amazing!

Went here for food 24/7/18 what a great place the owners are great such a lovely couple the steak was cooked to perfection and nothing was too much trouble it was my moms birthday and they put up banners and let us take a cake in for her too. I would recommend this steakhouse to anyone who loves a good steak with a good atmosphere but booking is essential as they get very busy. Thanks for an amazing evening and wonderful food. We will see you again.

Highly NOT recommended place. Sirloin steak was burned. I'm going to over lmit CO2 emission from this amount of coal in my system. Black long hair was found on my wife plate, disgusting!!! Waiter informed about this issues says "I will pass the message to the kitchen".... and nothing happened!!! Full amount paid in the bar for young boy, who never heard about recompense in this kind of situations. I'm not demanding and quarrelsome person, I will stay away from this place forever. Btw, someone should teach stuff how to warm the plates up before serve, because briquette (red. stake) get cold in five minutes.....

We had a weekend stay in Dolgellau and booked for the Friday night.
Wow an amazing starter and an even better steak as our main meal. Couldn’t finish it unfortunately as absolutely stuffed.
Staff were very helpful and friendly.
The steaks were cooked to perfection. We loved it so much we booked again for tonight (Saturday). Again food was amazing I had ribs which was huge. Finished it all tonight though. Again even though it was busier than last night the staff still had time to chat and asked if everything was ok.
Will definitely be back when we are next in the area. John you have an amazing restaurant and your staff do you proud.

Just had a family meal and have to say the food was fantastic. Brilliant service and friendly staff. We had our 5 year old grand- daughter with us and there was a kids menu. She was given crayons and colouring paper while we waited for our food. Will definitely be going again and highly recommended.
