Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is there is quite a wait for food. Me and my husband have been here 3 times and all 3 times we have lovely meals (we had something different each time) slightly pricy but don't mind because you pay for quality and that's what it is here. We came as a party of 4 one time the evening before our wedding and all 4 of us said how good the food was. The photos are from our recent visit.

We went here a few days ago for my niece's birthday. I lived near Diss some years ago when my children were small and this was the bus station, so I was keen to try it out. The staff were lovely, attentive & helpful. The food was extremely nice, and much better than food I've paid a lot more for elsewhere in the past! One of our party uses a wheelchair and there was plenty of room to accommodate her. We were quite a large party. We had a great time with lots of laughs! Will definitely pop back when in the area.

If you're looking for a phenomenal dining experience, then look no further! My dining experience at Thatchers Needle was truly exceptional. From the moment we entered! The atmosphere of the restaurant was cozy and inviting with very attentive staff which made us feel right at home. The menu offered a delightful array of dishes. I decided to try the "Royale Chicken Tikka Masala" served with Basmati and wild rice, Naan bread and poppadum. The flavours were well-balanced and the portion size was generous, every bite was a culinary delight. My dining companion ordered the "Fish and chips," which was Beer-battered Atlantic Cod With Chucky Chips and Peas the fish was fresh and perfectly cooked. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and I can't wait to return to Thatchers Needle to explore more of their delicious meals Highly recommend!

Fully recommended. Very helpful and genuinely friendly staff. The food was excellent at reasonable prices. We were a table of 4 and the service was prompt even though it was quite busy, AND mid week too. We will definitely be visiting again

Thatchers Needle is located at 33 Park Rd, Diss IP22 4AS. The set meal for lunch and early dinner can be 2 courses or 3 courses. Fresh and wonderful taste of food, includes starter " Breaded mushrooms", main "Calamari & Fries", pudding "Apple & Cherry Crumble". Plenty of parking spaces in decent environment. Highly recommended.

Called in for lunch. Met by courteous staff and shown to our table. We chose from an extensive menu. We particularly enjoyed the shared starter platter. Plenty for the 3 of us and very tasty Service was efficient without us feeling rushed.

A large modern pub with a huge number of tables to accommodate both diners and dogs!! Lovely staff.simple but adequate pub food at reasonable prices. Only one real ale, but well kept. Clean toilets. Friendly staff. The building lacks character but serves its purpose very well, unlike the stuffy dog hating pub by the mere!

Absolutely brilliant, we turned up 10 minutes before the kitchens were due to close and asked for a table for 6, it was no problem what so ever. The service was excellent, the food was excellent and the staff were more than happy to alter the meals to suit the tastes of the more fussy members of our group. Even brought a bowl of water over for the dog and made him welcome to, without it being asked for.

We visited for a family birthday celebration and could not fault it, the staff were so attentive and helpful and the food was lovely. Two of our party are coeliac and we were really impressed with with the separate gluten free menu and that their food came out clearly marked with little sticks stating ‘allergy’ on them, it was really reassuring for them. Overall we were really impressed and will definitely be back, thank you so much 😊

Really quite impressed with the food here as I'm often not interested in chain pub meals, but the chicken kebab was really quite tasty and not a bad price. Staff were excellent. Came here with a resident of an autistic adults home I work for. Staff were more than happy to give us a Christmas cracker for the young person I was supporting after she was desperate to have one. Really impressed with this place.

Visited the Thatchers Needle this evening, we had been quite regular before but was put off by the last couple of visits(pre covid and another two after covid) but tonight did not disappoint, food was so lovely and the staff were very friendly especially the gentleman who served us. We hadn’t booked a table, the man told us he would be with us ASAP, whilst he served someone else. Food came out quick and was lovely and well presented i had the Chicken and Chirzo kebab, would highly recommend. Dessert took a little longer but this was due to the man whisking up double cream as they had ran out of canned cream for the Sundae, now that’s service for you. We will definitely be back.

Faye was an excellent waitress. Attentive to our needs and always checking if our food was alright. I noticed she did this for all customers that afternoon, was always on her feet and when she wasn't serving customers she was wiping down tables. Excellent service.

Very easy to book online, detailed website with clear pictures and information. Arrived on time to be greeted very nicely and shown to our table. We had drinks while waiting for another person in our party to arrive. The menus were big and well laid out and the writing was very clear. There was a very large selection of dishes to choose from. We chose fish and chips which was a good large portion and cooked well, gammon meal was the same, and hunters chicken. All the food was well presented on clean plates and cutlery and was nicely cooked. The service staff were all friendly and polite and checked to see if everything was ok with our meal. We ordered coffee and all came quickly and was of a good quality. We ordered a tea, and although looked good it really didn't taste of much. Apart from the tea, everything else was excellent. Would recommend booking in advance as it got full quite quickly. We will be back.
