We would just like to say what a wonderful evening we had in the bear, we stayed over night in the four poster room, very comfortable and cosy. excellent, friendly staff, we had a dinner in the bear grills restaurant, it was a perfect meal, very attentive service. Definitely deserves a 5 star. Thank you very much we thoroughly enjoyed our stay

Love the Bear Hotel. Great pub and food, and comfortable rooms with friendly staff, but MOST importantly the subject of two books I've written had this place as his officers mess during WWI! That would be John McCrae, writer of the poem, In Flanders Fields and the reason we wear poppies every November. - Susan Raby-Dunne

A friendly, traditional coaching inn dating back to the 1700's. Loads of atmosphere and a very warm welcome.

Service excellent, Sunday Roast excellent. The pub has a lovely old coaching house feel to it, but boy it was freezing cold at table no. 1; we asked to be moved to another table and we were but the front bar room was just as chilly. It rather took away the pleasure of eating out. Time to light a roaring fire me thinks.

What can I say… The Bear is an outstanding venue. Having been here for a drink a couple of times, yesterday was the first time I stayed here as I was attending my two friends wedding. The ballroom was lovely. It was clean, beautifully kitted out and was a great backdrop for a beautiful wedding. The day went off without a hitch, the service was lovely, the buffet style menu was outstanding for what it was and the staff were very helpful and very polite. The only thing I can fault The Bear about it’s completely out of their hands. Yesterday was the hottest day of the year so far and as the Bear is a listed building, there was no air-con as this isn’t allowed. The venue was so so very hot and the room where like saunas. I’m not faulting the venue and it’s a 250+ year old building and they went out of their way to provide fans but it was very hot. I can imagine it would be super cozy and perfect during the winter months. The breakfast in the morning was great. I really enjoyed that as well. Otherwise I can’t really fault the venue for location, staff or customer service. A great place indeed

Could not stay as fully booked but had dinner ,lunch here. The staff were all helpful and lovely ,making tired travellers welcome. They were very kind and gave are small gathering a dinning room to catch up in. I must say the food was lovely . Finger buffet very well done , plenty of tea and coffee. Dinner was lovely and plenty off. Cannot wait to stay their next time we visit.

On the cycle route 4, this is a convenient and pleasant stop-over point. The historic hotel has still got its historic horse and cart stables which were convenient for overnight storage of our bikes. Although some parts of the hotel were tired, it is wonderfully quirky and located in the heart of the market town opposite the fresh open market (Thursdays). The hotel staff went above and beyond to help me have a bespoke breakfast plate. Recommend

Held a 90th birthday meal for my dad, had a private function room ' Queen Charlotte' Very nice easily held all 11 of us, food was good with what everyone ordered, and service was good too. Payed for my mum and dad to stay at the hotel and when I spoke to them the next day they said "they had a lovely stay and really enjoyed the breakfast". So l would like to say thank you for everyone at the Bear Hotel who assisted with the birthday meal and the overnight stay for my parents. Stuart

We have stayed here eight times since 2020, what a wonderful old, traditional hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. The meal tonight cooked by Craig was exceptional, my blue steak perfect, the giant mushroom firm, the garlic cabbage I will try and replicate at home and the chips spot on crispy. I have not been disturbed by apparitions and rattling chains at night yet, a bit dissapointing but after meals like this, in a comfortable bed you couldn't wake the dead.

Friendly and helpful staff. A good meal in nice surroundings. We live locally so didn't need to use the accommodation but it was a good choice for a lunchtime meal with visiting friends.

A charming hotel with a beautiful big 4 poster bedroom overlooking the market place. The bed was very comfortable, complementary toiletries and tea/coffee, water and biscuits good quality. The breakfast menu has good choices and the food is delicious. Staff very friendly, helpful and informative. We will definitely be visiting Devizes and staying at the Bear Hotel again.

We loved the hotel being as old as it is with many features being retained. Although cosy, our room was very comfortable and well furnished and we had a good sized bathroom. The highlight was the quality of our dinner which was imaginative, beautifully cooked and delicious. The breakfast was very good. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed our stay very much.

100% perfect, the hotel and especially the staff made tge whole day and evening superb. If I had to complain about one thing it would be the shower, it was still ok but it didn't get very hot, I asked a family member what their shower was like and they said it was lovely and hot, so maybe it was just in my particular room. But I wasn't going to say anything because the rest of the hotel and service was absolutely bang on, we will definitely keep going there to eat, thank you to all at the Bear 🐻
