Been working and drinking here for over 21 years - great boss, fab staff and an awesome mix of customers. An ever changing array of real ales - best choice of bar snacks and a superb jukebox. Don't forget to visit the best beer garden in Devizes when we are hit with decent weather.

A friendly pub for all who appreciate the riches of real ales out there. Traditional no nonsense ale house, lovely staff, great juke box, enticing snacks. Top place for a swift one or better still to lose a few hours with friends.

Great little free house close to the centre of Devizes. Plenty of space inside and a large garden to the rear. Excellent selection of (usually four) real ales. Competitively priced (££3 / £3.20 for the weaker beers) as well as being in their own oversized glasses (see photo). When we visited they had just started their Oktober Festival with four German bottled beers. Staff (owners) were very pleasant and engaging. No food (apart from snacks) or TV, there was a juke box but even when it was on it did not interfere with the conversation. Would definitely return.

A friend who knows I like traditional pubs where good ale and conversation take precedence over background music and TV recommended this. I was not disappointed. As a solo traveller I was made to feel at home. There was a good selection of beers reasonably priced. Traditional cider as well.

I haven't been here for 40 plus years, things haven't changed a great deal, still nice, clean and tidy. However, a great selection of ales to choose from....

Awesome rotating selection of real ales! Great free house. Beats all the tied Wadworths houses in Devizes by a mile on quality and price. Very welcoming experience. Nice large relaxing beer garden.

Proper pub in old school terminology. Unfortunately the ale I called didn't pull through, which left just a Palmers (red copper?) and the Bass on. Chose the Bass (without the drums 😉). Nostalgic juke box playing nostalgically, including a leaar spotted Floyd Cramer. A Church End came on (bar not jukebox) as we were leaving. Will return.
