Fantastic for the money. It may not be Michelin dining but then again the price isn't. 8.95 on a Sunday. Most others on a Sunday for buffet is double. All food was hot and tasted authentic. Highly recommended

The choice of food dishes is limited to Chinese food, however each dish is of high quality and completely authentic. The teppanyaki stand is a nice feature of the buffet and is very impressive to watch. Food prices are fair for what you get and it is nice and quiet compared to other nearby buffets which have a high volume of customers and very cramped seating. This is the perfect all you can eat buffet for somebody who enjoys a nice quiet meal, at a low cost, and loves Chinese food.

I like MAY SUM! Much better than than classic fast food junk. At least we have proper food, which can be recognised, vegetables and fruit! The Derby restaurant is to appreciate for space and atmosphere.

Party of 4 visited today and we all really enjoyed it. The food is absolutely delicious and hot and fresh. I had read some of the previous reviewers and was sceptical but I would definitely recommend it. Will be going again soon.

Brilliant. A good range of chinese foods and a range of english foods for kids (pizza, sausage, chips etc). During early afternoons there is plenty of seating as the lunchtime rush has gone. The food is excellent and really good price. Expect to pay about £20 for a couple including a large fizzy drink each. They also sell beers but I have not drank there. Next door is a large pub if you fancy a proper beer afterwards. The only drawback is that there is not much parking. If you are coming from Nottingham then perhaps try the May Sum there which is easy walking distance from Royal Centre Tram Stop.

If you want real Chinese, May Sum really is very good. There was a wide choice including 'casserole' type dishes which were just like I have eaten in Central China many times. I lived in various parts of China for 4 years. If I'm wanting a meal when I visit Derby again I would definitely go there.

May Sum is fantastic, you get all you can eat for a very reasonable price and the food is fairly decent. They also offer a take out service where you get given a box to fill, this is great because for the price of one dish (£5.20) at a chinese takeaway you can get a big variety. I have read a few negative reviews about May Sum and the politeness of the staff and they can come across a bit rude but most of them are chinese and not great at english, not rude, pleasantries go fine and the staff are always smiling. Any more than basic communication i agree things can go pear shaped. May sum is cheap and cheerfull i go there regularly and my realistic expectations are always met.

Nice place to go for your tried and true Chinese Takeaway favourites. Nowhere near as much variety as some places but the quality of food is better here and £5 cheaper, nowhere near as busy either, no need to wait for tables.

Been here several times. A Smorgasbord of Deeelicious Chinese dishes. Eat all you can for the price but be warned as a single bottle of water will set you back £3.50! 🤪

I like it and always have, the only time I found it to be below par was on a Monday afternoon when it is too quiet for it to be able to offer any reasonable range of food.
