I would like to thank the staff for their kind and excellent service today. my mum passed away this morning and different parts of the family wanted to be together so we met here. fabulous service from busy staff who cared. Food great. on reading the review from boxing day, i would just say, have some consideration for the staff who would prefer to be with their families. There are often difficult unforeseen circumstances, which cause staff alot of stress as they do their best.it seems that the great British Spirit of enjoying what we can has truely gone! life isnt perfect and can be alot worse than having to wait for your food!!! there is no reason why a meal should spoil your boxing day!
We came in today for a family meal the staff were all lovley didn’t see one member of staff who was friendly and had a smile on there face and the food was really good to really recommend
We booked out the whole hotel for weekend Excellent place, staff are really friendly and helpful, food was lovely. Thank you so much for giving us all such a great weekend. Simply Mustang club x

A special thankyou to all the staff for their kind and excellent service on the celebration of my Nana's 85th birthday. The carvery was delicious. A great time was had by everyone.
Great pub in an ideal location between Nottingham and Derby. Great choice of food and friendly staff. On-site accommodation, which we stayed in for two nights. Nice comfortable modern room tastefully decorated. Hotel reception is in the pub and has plenty of parking. Part of the Marstons chain.
The rooms at the Blue Jay are clean, comfortable and decent value for money. I’d happily stay there again…
The food in the restaurant is reasonably priced but I have found that quality varies - for example the amount of bbq sauce included with a burger was strangely smalj and the Hunters Chicken was a little dry… In contrast the staff have always been friendly and efficient - especially Andy and Adam who looked after us very well on a recent 2 night stay.
We stayed the night at the hotel opposite so The Blue Jay was perfect for dinner. There's a large car park so no problem parking. We received a warm welcome as soon as we entered. We checked in at the hotel reception that's inside the pub and then sat at a table. The menu is exactly what you want so plenty of choice and all reasonably priced. I went for scampi and chips which was tasty and my husband chose the mixed grill which was delicious too. We also enjoyed breakfast the following morning which was great. There's a continental option or full cooked options plus pancakes, etc. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

Only downside table had residue from previous occupation and we had to find staff to clean it, this was done fairly promptly. Efficient and friendly service from all staff from ordering to service of food and drink. When we left a friendly goodbye was appreciated
Food was lovely i had surf & turf. Partner had Steak was cooked the way we liked. Nice and hot and freshly cooked. Staff were very friendly , nothing was too much trouble . Mixture of ages , plenty of families
Friendly staff and management, the staff give the impression that they are happy at work and that reflects in their service to customers.
The food is good and reasonably priced, this is the place we come back to time and time again, when the girls from work want to catch up after work over dinner.

From booking to finishing the meal,was excellent. Served very quickly and efficiently. I had the fish and chips, believe me, their worth every penny,yum yum. Went with 4 others,food ranged from steak,mixed grill and a chicken dish. None failed to disappoint. Never had pudding,so can't comment, but was extremely full. Lovely surroundings and a nice friendly atmosphere. So if your passing by, pop in, you won't be disappointed. Well done Blue Jay and all the staff
Came with family and friends to celebrate my birthday. Food was delicious and staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely to get NHS discount too. Only downside was the drink prices, which were a little steep
Great service at the bar in the evening. Comfortable, very clean room in the lodge. Nice breakfast with attentive waitress. I’ll be back. Thank you.

Wonderful service. A group of 30 odd of us stayed on the weekend of 24/25 June. Food service was incredibly punctual - especially considering our numbers. Food was lovely. Communication and service by all staff was impeccable. Alesha, Sammy, Danny, Alicia, Tracey, Gareth, Wayne, Sam. Great to see people taking such great pride in their work and putting the customer first. Rooms immaculate and air conditioning was a massive bonus. Grounds lovely too. We shall return. See you all soon.
Great place for a meal. Good menu with reasonable prices. Carvery great. Good choice of vegetables. Generous with the meat! Staff friendly and chatty . Will return.
We came today for dinner with the kids. All the staff working were very friendly and attentive. A couple of us were having a carvery so a staff member very kindly let us know when the other meals were about to be served so they could go up and get theirs and we could all eat together which I think is a lovely idea! The little play area keeps my very energetic toddler entertained. Toilets were nice and clean and most importantly the food was lovely! Me being a vegetarian, it's often hard to find anything on the menu which isn't the "meatless/beyond meat meals" so it's nice to be able to have an actual veggie burger which is really tasty! And also have a couple of other options suitable for me. We'll definitely be back again.
The Blue Jay bar is very much as other Marsden establishments the meals or hearty but the cakes are amazing
Welcoming and friendly. Constantly keeping tables and area tidy and clean. Not stood around talking like in othe places I have eaten. Also very helpful with one of us having an intolerance.
