Had a birthday meal at The Belfry, steaks were cooked perfectly, generous side portion sizes which is very refreshing these days. Puds to die for and lively staff who were attentive and friendly without being intrusive. Heartily recommended. What's not to love!
Just had the best Sunday lunch I've had in a long time. Love this wonderful pub and been to many events. Never disappointed and the staff are very welcoming and the customer service is excellent. Highly recommend.
Great selection of beers, great atmosphere and Wonderfull, friendly staff.
Without doubt, one of Derby's best establishments.
Just ordered the beef for delivery, flawless service! Food came within 30 minutes, it was hot and also delicious, I highly recommend it.
I often enjoy a drink at The Old Bell, never eaten there but noticed on this page that they deliver Sunday lunch. Wow, I have just taken said delivery and there was enough to feed a small army! Stilton and mushroom pie was delicious and I now have so much left over veg, I won't need to buy any all week - great food and fantastic value for money!
Just called on speck today (Mothers Day) and had the best Sunday lunch I've had in years. Staff were extremely helpful and courteous and the chocolates for Mum's as we left was the icing on the cake. Definitely well worth a visit. Thank you.
We decided to try the Sunday Lunch meal delivery & we’re glad we did. Meat was plentiful, roast potatoes & Yorkshire Puddings were amazing, plenty of veg.
Highly recommend it if you fancy a Sunday roast without the hassle of cooking it!
Sunday dinner delivery service. Terrific option when you can't be arsed to cook. They deliver the beer/wine/desert as well. What's not to love?
I did a Disco for a wedding in the Ball Room and found the room and staff Excellent, I would recommend for a party any time.

So we just had 2 Roast Lamb dinners delivered and they were absolutely lovely... The lamb was tender and melted in the mouth... We will definitely be coming in to sample it in the restaurant... Ps... My partner says can you tell us what you do with the red cabbage as it was delicious
Had four beef lunches delivered on Sunday they are amazing the food was excellent and plenty of it will definitely order again
My sister and myself decided to pop in for a Sunday lunch today and at first thought it seemed a bit quiet and unwelcoming but as we looked round all tablets were fully booked and the food looked amazing. We ordered the Roasted 8oz Lamb Rump, it was all cooked perfectly the vegetables came out separately in their own dishes. The red cabbage is delicious!!
I would recommend to book a table! We will be coming back!
Lovely pub , but bar staff miserable especially the one who wasn’t wearing a waistcoat , on his phone and drinking behind the bar not very professional
We recently had our wedding in the Regency Ballroom at the Old Bell. It was fantastic. All the staff were absolutely awesome, and we would like to thank Sean for getting everything sorted, but also Tony was an absolute legend and made sure everything went perfectly, would recommend to anyone - thank you all for making our day great xx
OK, but not as good as the original bell, some 10 years ago. Expensive, but nice choice of beers, decent staff, good atmosphere. Try it, worth a pint at least.
Nice pub, our barman was really friendly and knowledgable… a rarity these days! Nice outdoor seating at the front in the sun. Wide range of draft ales and beers.
We had our wedding reception here on the 5th August 23, room is beautiful, all the staff are really nice and the food was amazing couldn't of asked for more
Popped in mid afternoon on a Wednesday, not many in , but good service and good pints .
It's a pity did not serve food, but excellent venue for derby folk festival
Visited Saturday 28th January 2023, mid afternoon.
Built in 1650 it's Derby's largest remaining coaching Inn and was considered one of the grandest outside of London, the Tudor frontage was added in the early 1900s.
At its peak it had over 50 rooms, multiple bars and restaurants, it's been a doctor's, court and even held prisoners in its cellar.
Nowadays it's massively impressive and gives a real sense of Derby's fairly grand but sadly lost history.
The main bar is in 1 room spanning the front, beer choice is pretty good with a nice mix of cask, craft on keg and lager with a full range of spirits, soft drinks, tea and some nice smelling coffee.
Staff are great, really smart looking and attentive but friendly and talkative.
Hard to believe how much this place has changed, it's great to see someone actually caring about such an historically important building.
Well worth going and visiting their website for their full history.
Hired the Ballroom for a party of around 70 people and the event was very good. Plenty of food in the buffet and great service at the bar. Would recommend for any parties or other special events.
Had a refurbishment since I last went and looks alot better. Had a good pint of beer but my partner and i were the only people in their so atmosphere was limited. Didn't even no there was rooms you could stay in.
Step back in time, in this delightful watering hole. Full of charm & character. Not just talking about the staff!
Used to love the Sunday lunch here - unfortunately the don't do that any more. Still a good bar full of character and history but without the food we didn't stop firca ling vudit
Beautiful period features inside and out, with a good seating arrangement. Friendly enough service and a bang average selection of beers. Refreshingly un-rowdy on a Saturday afternoon - great spot for a quiet pint and a book or a laptop.
The most tasty Sunday Lunch at this friendly 1650 Tudor pub in Derby. Thanks to Craig who pleasantly and proudly showed us around this gorgeous pub. Thanks to the staff, the 2 other Craig’s, Alex and special gratitude to an amazing Chef Carly. Definitely will recommend this Traditional Food Pub .
Lovely traditional city center pub serving lovely cask ales and great Sunday dinners
Booked the Tudor for private party. Lovely manager and all booked and helped with set up.
Only downside was the lad on the bar, unceremoniously ushering us out at 6pm . He ought to have said when it was getting near time to leave instead he announced he was going home and we had to clear up,! Bit harsh!
This is one of my son's and his partner's favourite pubs in Derby. (This is my second visit.) I can see why they like it so much. The building has lots of character both inside and out. The door staff are very friendly. The seating is very comfortable. It doesn't seem to get too noisy or overcrowded based on my 2 visits. My only criticism was of the ladies toilets: the toilet seat of the cubicle I first entered was completely loose and dangerous! It may have happened that evening and I'm sure they will have fixed it by now.
Beautiful Sunday roast service was excellent a slight mix up with order was notice and fixed straight away. Plus extra veg and gravy brought promptly. We arrived early and were still accommodated even though we were waiting for the rest of our party. Thank you
We hired The Grand Regency Ballroom at The Old Bell in August for our wedding reception. Brad was super helpful in answering a lot of questions, and allowed us to pop by a few times to see the room. The room is beautiful and spacious which made it perfect for our wedding of about 100. We had 7 tables of 9 which was suggested by Brad and was the perfect amount as many of our guests stood by the bar or stayed in the courtyard which we had great access to. There was also disabled access/toilets if you came through the main bar.
The bar was well stocked and the staff really friendly and helpful. We brought our own buffet and own DJ (although I believe you can hire both through The Old Bell itself). And it was only just over £600 pound to hire which officially gave us access from 12pm on the day of our wedding until 10am the following day, meaning we could leave some items overnight and collect them the next morning. Brad however, let us decorate the room the evening before hand - but this was only because there wasn't another event on that night so the room was empty.
A great room, a great night and great staff - thank you Old Bell!
