So we haven't been in since the place was refurbished and we were pleasantly surprised.
The team were friendly and we was served by the manager and James. The manager helped us with the o2 app and was very accommodating.
The food came in a timely fashion and was lovely. We had fish and chips which was just the right size. 2 for £11.
The deserts were lovely.recommend the brownie
Went on a Sunday night with partner. Place was very clean and had a nice atmosphere. All staff we interacted with were friendly and attentive. Service was fast and food was tasty, with good portions. We liked the little grabber machine they had there: thought it was a fun little touch. Value for money was superb; reasonably priced food and cocktails were 2 for £8.50 or £5 each. Would recommend. Several screens showing live sport but wasn't rowdy at all.
Popped in for food last night after a day out. Ordered starter with our mains and everything was lovely. Hot and plenty of it. Fabulous service from Becky the manager who served us at bar. The pub has just an a refurbishment and it looks really good. Very nice and will be back again soon.
I booked the table to celebrate my 40th birthday, we found the restaurant clean and the staff friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
The food service was good as there was 16 of us we all got our meals together.
I thought having to search for gluten free options on a tablet was a bit frustrating as it was also needed for checking in your guests, maybe a second tablet would be an idea so that guests can take time to choose from the menu.
The food was nice although my Eaton mess did not have any strawberries or raspberries in so was a bit disappointing.
Overall we enjoyed it and will return for a future visit.

The food was really good it took 80 minutes for the meal to come to the table which meant my daughter missed her train back to London and had to get a later one. We have eaten at the argosy for years and have never waited so long for a sizzling skillet.

Our food was lovely - Tasty, hot and plentiful. Fiona was our fantastic waitress.
I received the generous 40% off mains email offer by email so me and my wife decided to try out the new refurbed Argosy.
The look of the pub is much nicer now with a welcoming and modern feel.
We was genuinely surprised at the very reasonable prices on the menu and they are more than fair for what must be tough times for all pubs.
The menu quality and choice is truly excellent with something for all.
My wife had chicken fajitas which she really enjoyed and I had a 10 ounce ribeye steak - my steak was over cooked and the black pepper sauce was forgotten, but thanks to the fantastic service from our lovely waitress Fiona she brought out a freshly cooked meal, with a perfectly cooked medium rare ribeye steak.
The chef did an excellent job of the second meal. I hate having to send food back and rarely do but I had to in this instance, as I really didn't enjoy the overcooked first steak after a couple of bites, to see if I could just manage with it so I wasn't waiting for another meal.
I was surprised this happened as I ordered on the app and it asks you how you'd like your steak, but as I said the chef made a lovely second steak and everyone makes mistakes so it's how you correct them that counts and Fiona offered us some free puddings which were a very nice gesture and they again were really good like our mains were.
We'll definitely return again and I recommend the Argosy to everyone.
Great service, always good food and good options for kids. Meals are really good sizes for kids and obviously the deals that you get with the kids is always a bonus!
This is our go to pub for week day meals as a family!
A good pub this. However, they missed 5 stars as we booked the Xmas menu online, a few days in advance. They didn't have half of this menu when they rang us 1 hour before we were booked.
Just went to the bar to set up a tab, order drinks as they had the pre order. We had timed or visit nicely before the inundation.
Brie wedges were nice, Korean chicken goujons good, steak lovely and hot if a teeny bit tough, onions soo much better than the flaming grill alternative. My wife's festive burger was fabulous, taking the best festive burger crown at this price point.
I love a Sundae, even on a Thursdae, apologies to Niven and Pournelle for stealing there gag. The Cadburys one substitute on the festive menu was a good egg, the salted apple crumble was well average.
Have to compliment the team who worked their socks off, and extremely efficient service from the kitchen too.

Had a lovely meal as always, I love the crispy chilli beef! Staff were very friendly and helpful, my only criticism was how small the ice cream sundae was for the price (£4.60) and the honeycomb was missing. Definitely be back 😋
Went for dinner Wednesday evening. Was looked after by a lovely lady called Diane. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Only visiting the area but would recommend to anyone thinking of going.
This visit to The Argosy was filled with Football Friday and a Scampi & Chips.
The food arrived in good time for a fairly busy evening, the quality did not disappoint and quantity was decent.
For a friday it wasn't overly packed, but it certainly wasn't empty, welcoming and warm environment with plenty of areas to view the sports.
There was 12 of us. Food came out really hot. All together even though we all ordered separately. Nothing was missing or wrong with the order. Would for sure recommend:)
Just come back from the bar tonight, my children and grandchildren visited this evening, the food was tasty ( everyone finished their food) the staff were lovely, my husband is 60 today so we had a cake made especially and it was dropped off earlier, a bit of a mix up occurred, however the staff were really apologetic and rectified the mistake,it really didn’t matter!!, definitely visit again!!….. thank you all for a lovely evening
It was a busy saturday as it was soul night. I had pre booked seats...they forewarned us the food may have a lengthy wait as they were busy but we were waiting within 25 minutes. The food was hot and tasty. The bar was extremely busy but there was plenty of staff on so not a lot of waiting time. Staff were friendly .
