All round fantastic place - the service was outstanding as well as the food - great place for a celebration lunch.
Me and my wife's favourite place to eat. Never disappointed with the beautiful food and excellent service. A wonderful place to eat
We ordered off the lunchtime menu 2 courses for £27 which was fantastic value for money. Service was good & we got everything timely & curtoesly. I had the soup & the chicken which were delicious. We walked around the grounds afterwards which were beautiful. Would highly recommend and definitely going back.
My friend and I had a fantastic meal last night. Food was amazing. Also the staff were very helpful and attentive. Would highly recommend
Absolutely fantastic! Young couple looking for somewhere to dine after a weekend at Colchester zoo
Steak is amazing & the tables being on the river overlooking the bridge lit up was beautiful too. The service is brilliant, Michelin star prices but that’s because the whole package is 5*
Will definitely go back.
Had my daughters and her new husbands wedding reception here 1/9/17. Absolutely could not fault the location, service and catering. Everyone was so helpful, hardworking and polite and the place is absolutely perfect for a wedding. Nothing was too much trouble and every request granted. Thank you all at Le Talbooth for all your hard work giving them a wedding to remember.
The most beautiful place to have a wedding. Excellent food and staff with lovely surroundings.
Always love coming here, food is always outstanding & service great too, it’s a must of u haven’t tried it yet 👍
Amazing meal in a lovely location, it that was my last meal I would die a happy man!!!
Had dinner here for our anniversary, it was a lovely evening. The venue and the surroundings are beautiful, food was excellent both in flavour and presentation, and the service was impeccable. We were well looked after, without ever feeling like anyone was hovering.
Absolutely lovely Sunday lunch over Easter, amazing food and service... especially all the staff for entertaining our 20 month old twins... thank you x
Our first visit today. Fabulous food, comfort wind and Outlook. I knocked a star off because we were approached upon leaving to pay our bill that had already been paid. I didn't appreciate that mistake. But, we will be back as everything else was superb.
Lovely evening w delicious food. We did get a bit cold as evening wore on and the terrace heaters don't really help the tables on the periphery. Also the wedding constant disco drum beat wouldn't be my preference for a sound track to an otherwise lovely meal with my late 80 something year old in laws.
Beautiful location, and excellent service. I had high expectations for the food but it did disappoint me for the price. On arrival there were olives and nuts on the table to graze. Some bread was served which was really good though the butter was a little hard. I had the guinea fowl press to start which was under seasoned and quite bland, though the presentation was lovely. For main I had the steak which was just okay. The sauce was very rich and in comparison slightly over seasoned. For dessert I had the rhubarb and custard tart. The pastry was light and crispy and delicious. I did not get much rhubarb flavour which is a shame. There were lots of jelly bits on top which were also underwhelming . My least favourite course.
You have to pay a £25pp deposit which is taken off the bill automatically. There is parking and I wheelchair accessible to the main restaurant. There were vegan and vegetarian.
Our bill was about £190 for 3 courses for 2 people, 2 glasses of wine, 2 orange and lemonades, a pint of ale and some sparkling water.
I was lucky enough to be taken for my birthday. We had the most wonderful experience and the food was delicious. A lovely menu to choose from and extensive wine list. We were lucky enough to be able to sit outside and this was really nice. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend here for a lovely birthday/celebration meal. This was our first visit but it won't be our last.
A fantastic restaurant with an excellent level of service and great food. We enjoyed a 3-course, second sitting Sunday lunch in September, having booked in January.
We really enjoyed the service by the staff. They were very polite and made the evening feel special. The building is beautiful.
The food in my opinion was not worth the price. It was nice but I would have been happier with more variety on my plate.
Top quality as always. Glorious setting. Attentive staff. Wonderful menu. Stunning wine list. Delicious and beautifully presented food. Yes, expensive, but no surprise there and actually great value for money.
I take my partner here for a birthday dinner, the food and atmosphere was incredible. I cannot compliment the staff enough on their attentiveness and politeness while being extremely professional.
The food was cooked to perfection and châteaubriand steak was to die for. The service was extremely efficient, but yet very personal.
This restaurant is on the pricey side, if you’re looking for something a little bit special but I would have no hesitation in returning here.
This is fine dining with excellent food cooked perfectly. We ate on the terrace next to the beautiful river, which was ideal on a warm evening.
The service was very good, For example, we ordered the Chateaubriand, which comes for two people. The Maitre D asked us how we would like it cooked as we usually have steak cooked differently. He carved and served it for us so that each person had the slices they preferred. All this with no fuss at all.
My only feedback was that the tables were quite close together so you could hear the conversations everyone was having.
Overall, a very enjoyable fine dining experience.
Friendly, professional welcome, great attention by staff, no pressure.
All four courses were superb.
My only criticism - this is fine dining, but no fish cutlery was offered for the stone bass dish, and no dessert forks with the dessert spoons.
If it had been me having the fish I would have asked for fish cutlery, but it was my husband and he didn't want to ask.
I have strong views about letting standards drop, especially at this level.
Excellent meal and service in a gorgeous setting. Nice vegetarian and vegan menu.
This place is so beautiful. We live an hour away but are more than happy to do the 2 hour round-trip for their lunch. The food is delicious and the setting is stunning. Staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcomed. Well worth a visit.
Expensive, very expensive, but it is worth it. I think that this is almost at the standard of a Michelin star, but my wife (who knows far more about food than me) thinks that it is there already. The service is excellent but if it is to get that star there are just a few very very minor things to sort, notably remembering which guest ordered which dish. We will definitely return for another special occasion.
Perfect evening for our daughters 18th b’day meal. As such a beautiful eve we were offered the terrace for our dining experience. It was our first time visiting and would defiantly recommend. Great service, delicious food, beautiful location. Thoughtful touch from the kitchen with a surprise little b’day sweet treat for my daughter. Also rather enjoyed the wonderful chocolate box choice with the coffee. Thank you to all the staff for a wonderful dining experience.
18th wedding anniversary and as they caterer for our wedding it seemed an appropriate place to celebrate, so made a weekend of it. Lovely room, very helpful staff and excellent meal 😋 highly recommend. We were even lucky with the weather too!
An amazing evening. Food was fantastic, service was excellent. Would recommend to anyone wanting to go somewhere special for a treat.
