We had a family lunch at Uptown Farmhouse. This was a superb experience. The atmosphere is sophisticated, yet relaxed, the service was friendly and efficient and the food was absolutely marvellous. The pictures show the Seafood Fazzoletti and the Buffalo Mozzarella, Peppers and Olives starters, the main courses are Grouse (which came with separate vegetables and potatoes), and Roast Pork, and finally the Cheese and Biscuits. The wine list is excellent and we had some original cocktails as aperitifs. The Rosemary Bread they brought us was wonderful. I didn't photograph it because we had eaten it before I thought of doing so. Two other things to note are that they are very welcoming to dogs and children and the children's pasta with tomato sauce was very popular with my granddaughter, and parking is very easy in their farmyard. The meal was expensive, but worth it.

We dined at up down a few weeks ago on a Monday. The venue is stunning and the setting is very unique. I love their simple ethos of food, so much flavour and it’s all about great produce. This place is well worth the trip and something you will certainly remember. Well done to the whole team, fantastic job 🙌

Absolutely beautiful restaurant serving exquisite food and wines. This place reminded me an atmosphere of the old house from Great Expectations movie in a very good way. My partner and I spent a few awesome hours there, completely lost in time and space, enjoying every detail of our meal and service. It’s quite a journey for us to get there but we will come again very soon.

Gorgeous! We stayed for one night in the garden room #3. The house and rooms are beautiful, they really make it feel like a home from home. Every detail is thought out, from the honesty bar, games and books and milk delivery’s outside your room in the morning. The grounds are lovely especially if you’re bringing a dog. And the restaurant is stunning. We felt like we were a flight away from home (more like a 15min drive)! Our host and waitress Meg was so helpful and friendly. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing break.

Updown is a magical little gem in the countryside. I come here often for lunch or dinners, and it’s always impeccable. I had gnocchi here 3 months ago, and haven’t stopped talking about it. I’m vegetarian and they always rustle something up amazing for me. It’s a relaxed atmosphere where you’re waited on, but not fussed over. Leaving you to enjoy and take it all in. It’s family run, and you can tell they put their heart and soul into the place. It’s more than just a restaurant with rooms, it’s a little oasis.

We had an absolutely magical 2 night, 2 day experience at Updown. It was the perfect English countryside setting for my small group of girlfriends to celebrate a dreamy birthday getaway. The staff were all incredibly charming and nothing was too much trouble. The food was elegant and delicious, the drink selection was spot on, the rooms were so immaculate and uber comfortable. Updown manages to combine a high-end style with a chilled vibe, effortlessly. Thank you Updown for providing the perfect weekend for us - we'll cherish the memories forever.

Updown Farmhouse is an absolutely magical place to escape to. We stayed in room 3 in the main house, a gorgeous room. The only slight downside for us was that there is a shower but it’s a handheld one over the bath taps. So if you like a stand up/walk-in shower then don’t book this room. The service from all the staff we encountered was second to none. They treat you like old friends coming to stay from the start of your visit. We got a complimentary welcome cocktail and snacks (delicious homemade orange and vanilla sable biscuits that melted in your mouth). The food at dinner was delicious but they ran out of one of the desserts by the time we came to order. But tbh we were too full for a dessert anyway! Breakfast was really good and included if you’re staying the night. The gardens/grounds are gorgeous and very relaxing. Just a slight complaint from us that in the afternoon/early evening that we were there, someone (I think a member of staff) brought their three little kids to play in the garden and they were running around screaming for 3+ hours which made it hard for us to properly chill out. Totally get that they’re going for a ‘family’ vibe, but most guests were couples on romantic/relaxing breaks, so, like us, would probably have preferred to have had a more peaceful environment in the afternoon. We’d absolutely visit again though - staff, food, drinks, room, house, garden all beautiful.

Just spent the most wonderful weekend at Updown celebrating a 40th birthday. The location, the rooms, the food and service were impeccable. From the moment we walked in the door we were made to feel so welcome by their lovely host, and this attentive, kind service continued throughout the weekend from all their staff. The quality of food in the restaurant was outstanding and reasonably priced. Aperitivos in their stunning gardens was a highlight. Thank you Updown, can't wait for our next visit!

This is a magical gem of a place that I cannot recommend highly enough! The decor in the accommodation is so gorgeous and well thought out - staying at Updown feels like a home away from home. The food at the restaurant is so delicious but the thing that makes this place stand out above the rest is the wonderful staff who really go out of their way to make you feel relaxed and happy. Thank you Updown for such a wonderful weekend - we cannot wait to return one day!

Great fresh food surrounded by country gardens. Perfect for a weekend lunch. The place is a little tricky to find, but beautiful and very relaxed. The sun was out and there were cushions and sun chairs on the lawn where people could have drinks and snacks. The restaurant area was rustic and warm, and the servers were very attentive and kind.

One of the best Sunday lunches I’ve ever had. My only complaint is the roasties were a bit too salty for me! The staff are absolutely delightful and provide impeccable service. Well worth a visit.

This is a very special place. The tables are set inside a beautiful pergola in the middle of a garden. The lovely staff looked after us in a way that somehow made a simple lunch into an event. The food was amazing, perfect textures and flavours, cooked and presented with great care. My grouse with fresh figs and girolles served on bruschetta was especially memorable

What an absolutely magical place! We arrived for our evening meal and were immediately immersed in the charm of updown, we had drinks in the stunning garden before eating outside on the terrace. The food was second to none, my 7 year old had the langoustines and polished off the whole plate, which says it all. The staff were super friendly and absolutely on point, nothing was too much. All together a perfect place to eat, relax and leave the busy world behind. A mix of families, friends and couples makes updown welcoming to all and one of nicest places I’ve been to in a long time.
