Reviews The Lane

My wife and I live in the Greater London area, so access to high quality restaurants is not an issue but we drove over an hour and a half in the middle of the week to have her birthday lunch at this restaurant. Worth every minute! Anna and the staff are amazing and the cakes are absolutely to die for. I don't say this lightly - the vanilla and Bailey's cheesecake cake is the best cake I've ever had...and I haven't even started on the cocktails and the burgers that we had. I can't recommend them highly enough; if you are in the area (or even if you're not), the Lane is the place to go!

Absolutely scrumptious Afternoon Tea, My daughter and I couldn’t wait to try the New Winter Menu after our Summer Afternoon Tea visit. Foodporn at its best, far too much but it’s nice that we can take a doggy bag home. Well worth the price and most definitely be going back. If not for the Afternoon Tea then for either their Breakfast or Lunches. Thankyou for yet again fantastic food and excellent service especially our waiter lovely Jamie

My husband arranged a surprise Birthday tea for me with a group of friends. It was absolutely fabulous! Long line of pretty picnic benches with a stunning array of savoury and sweet treats. As much tea as we could drink! Service was great and they even gave us boxes to take home what we couldn't eat! Highly recommend!

Had waffles for the first time ever and loved them. We will be back. And proper tea in a pot that didn't drip.

This was my first visit today and was lovely Me and my friend had afternoon tea picnic . All I would say, maybe a few more savoury items and less sweet but that's my personal preference . Would defiantly recommend to family and friends .

Had a Lane breakfast and it was absolutely lush!!!!. I don't go for breakfast very often but it was that yummy I should do. Well worth the money and was stuffed for the rest of the day!!!

We went for the Harry Potter Afternoon Tea. I had the veggie version and my husband had the standard tea. They were scrumptious. We marveled at the imagination that put together the delicious little morsels that made up the whole meal. We loved putting together our polyjuice and choosing our house tea! Loved the decor too. We did miss Harry Potter music to add that bit more to the ambiance. It was our first visit to the restaurant and it won’t be our last. (P.s. please add this tea to your calendar for next year! I have friends from far away that are keen to visit in half term 2024!)

Had the most fantastic time at the Harry Potter afternoon tea. My favourite was actually the savoury, the French onion soup was delicious. My son loved the beef stew. After a mistake with the bill, the manager was understanding, friendly and kind. Thank you for a brilliant end of half term treat - we’ll be back! X

Absolute favourite cafe in Deal, and what a hidden gem. Me and my mum visited this place twice during our 4 day visit in Deal, and we were very impressed by the vegetarian options! Tasted amazing and there was a great selection, too! The ambience of the place is also so cosy and unique. We tried both breakfast and lunch options, and neither disappointed us. Also the staff is really professional and cheerful too, making the experience even better. P.s. The whole "were Ross and Rachel on a break" tip jar is really clever. Kudos to whoever came up with that.

Love this place! Afternoon tea ,but not as you know it. Very imaginative dishes, beautifully served, and best of all a box and carrier bag to take home what you can't eat. Third time eating here, and different menu each time, just fantastic.

Speed is not a predicate that could be attributed to this restaurant. Yes, although it was still fairly quick. food was good coffee mediocre service ok. generally a good experience, it was extremely humid and hot and we got a nice little spot in the shade. The price is ok so we'll be back soon.

Visit 1: Immaculate venue, very lovely! Had the pancakes for Pancake Day, very nice and good portion size. Would love to try the cocktail menu. Visit 2: Had lunch, the burger with smoky beef. Ordered it with no mayo or tomato and it came with both but staff were more than happy to change it for me. When I did receive it, it was tasty.
