Yes, well, there is much more on offer down Smugglers Lane in Holcomb than one might think, beside a lovely clean Beach and sea with most tall trees affording shelter from the very hot sun, there is a Salty Dog Kiosk where one can take a well earned hot or cold drink plus there is a selection of hot and cold snacks on the menu; not satisfied with that, if you dog is Hungry, there are snacks for them as well; a real South Devon GEM
Great food and a top place to stop when doing the costal walk - best bacon, sausage & egg bap in the area.
Great little oasis on our favourite 'private' beach! The only problem is that this place is now so nice that my 'private' beach is becoming less private! Ask about the ice cream sandwich special and their weekend gourmet offering - currently dauphinoise potatoes with scallops! Of course the bacon, egg and cheese bap is pretty good too.
Discovered this little jem after last minute change of mind where to walk the dog, so glad we did. Lovely welcome even a free treat for the dog, but there is also other dog freindly treats.. I even had a nice coffee with a free bun.
Everyone who goes this way along the beach, you will not be disappointed,
Walked along from Teignmouth today following the signs for this cafe. A total delight when we found it, a free rock cake with my coffee and a lovely bacon bap. The owners are really friendly and it was a super spot to have a break before walking back. We will certainly return !
Had the nicest naughtiest ice cream today. Ice cream between two white choc chip cookies. Amazing. Such a lovely little gem at our favourite location. Wishing them all the luck in the world with this venture, you will do amazingly. Such friendly smiley people
Great little kiosk in a lovely private setting. Really friendly owners and an excellent choice of food and drink. I highly recommend the toasted tea cake with homemade ham!
Awesome place, can highly recommend the ice cream cookie sandwich!!
Another lovely bacon roll from Salty Dog kiosks on a Sunday morning. Great cup of tea as well. When you walk from Teignmouth or Dawlish you can justify eating the roll!
A fun little spot under the railway! We had a lovely walk along the seafront from Teignmouth and then stuffed our faces with delicious homemade sausage rolls and cream teas-all very reasonably priced too!!
Love this spot.....after a lovely walk along beach great to stop for a chat coffee and of course a bacon and egg bap... perfect....and such a lovely welcome
Awesome ice cream with friendly service. A repeat customer and will definitely keep going back.
Just been and had lunch at The Salty Dog. Well it was amazing. Such a warm welcome, great customer service. The food was delicious, scallops cooked to perfection. Even on a wet day Sue and Steve were incredible.
What a gem of a find. It requires some effort to walk here along the SW Coastpath from Teignmouth or taking a chance there'll be somewhere to park on Smugglers Lane that leads off the main road to the secretly and strategically placed venue. Hidden away at the base of the cliff set back from the train line is a kiosk offering a really friendly and warm welcome. Together with a beach bucket library (borrow and return) and other quite wonderful ideas for visitors, there were tables to sit at, under cover or outside and plenty of space to rest a while whilst bacon and egg rolls were prepared. A choice of white or granary rolls was offered by a lovely polite and patient young lady at the window, who after taking our order offered us a free home made cake to go with each hot drink. Now when was the last time that happened to you?
The drinks were hot (and a again when was the last time you had to wait 5-6 minutes before you could drink it?) and wonderfully served and complimented the free rock cakes /date slice/fruit scone. Rolls were fresh, contents cooked to perfection, friendly, engaging staff and a really pleasant atmosphere on what was a rain swept and windy morning. If you want somewhere out of the way, but offers a helpful and great service for rolls, baguettes etc, I cannot recommend this place highly enough based on my visit today. I'll be back there, I have no doubt at all.
Handy Tea Bar under railway arches at e d of Teignmouth prom walk. Very dog friendly.
Nice little spot for a cafe, bit unusual.
Down Smugglers lane, rear of what looks like a builders yard, alongside the railway. With bridge arches to access the beach. But it works
A very friendly lady served us.
My friend had a very nice cup of coffee with a piece of cake. I had a very nice ice-cream.
We picked a quiet time. There are generally people sat drinking coffee.
Nice little walk along the sea well, coffee ☕ and a lovely homemade date slice at the Salty Dog before walking back, just a perfect stroll.
Lovely little rest bite. We had bacon cranberry and brie panninis from the special board.. Was absolutely delicious and good sized portion. The staff are lovely, chatty and very smiley, couple of tables to sit at or you can take your food to the beach. We will be back. ❤️❤️
Bacon roll and coffee were both lovely. We were made really welcome, and dog friendly!
Halfway along an easterly walk from Teignmouth seafront to Dawlish (or in my case, a circular walk back to Teignmouth) this kiosk hides on the other side of the tunnel under the railway, at the foot of a 'smuggler's lane'. The perfect place to catch your breath before climbing up to the main road. Coffee comes with a free cake!
Great little place to pick up a drink or snack after a walk along the beach. Gold prices and some good choices of food and drink.
What a surprise, at the end of the first half of a most pleasant beach walk from Teignmouth, a secret coffee stop and more.
Served through the tiniest hatch in what in truth is a converted shipping container, this is a gem.
The excellent lady behind counter answered the many and curious questions of our way over excited party. (The "please don't lean on the counter" warning totally ignored by us....sorry salty dog).
Delicious range of coffees hot and iced.
And yes, the unannounced complimentary cake led to way too much debate. I can confirm the homemade date infused flapjack was utterly yum!
Well guys you were the highlight of our day.
Thankyou.
If only we had been sensible enough to have stayed for lunch..,.
Great little cafe just off the beach, reasonably priced food and drink. Brilliant dog menu including icecream and puppachino. No mains water or toilet facilities. Only downside
