Called and ordered a take away for delivery, and we were very happy that they accepted our order despite being out of the delivery zone. I haven't had an Indian for a while and I wasn't disappointed, the food was amazing, but also was so glad and happy that they delivered my food hot and on time.... well done, and thank you so much for delivering.... we will definitely visit the restaurant when next in Dartmouth... just wanted to say a real genuine thanks for our dinner!!!
Rare opportunity to experience 'old style' English Indian restaurant with front room carpet, lighted pic on wall albeit they had ( sensibly) dispensed with the starched linen. Bring your own alcohol and lookout for the wobbly floor.
We were visiting Dartmouth for a few hours on our holiday and decided to have a takeaway to take back to our caravan via the car ferry.
Please do not be put off by other reviews or the appearance when you walk in. The food was really good I had CTM my hubby had Chicken Tikka Dansak with onion fried rice.
All the food was red hot, high quality I'm only sorry its not my local Indian DONT be put off by the reviews try it for yourselves.
Great takeaway, right in the heart of Dartmouth. Really enjoyed our food (July 2023). Very friendly service too.
The most beautiful inviroment and meal was great. Tbe decor was outstanding and soo much food..
Very professional service well done guys
Had a great takeaway from here last night, chicken rogan josh x 2, chicken dansak, tandoori chicken, pilau rice and 4 nans. Friendly man serving us, quick to produce ( just enough time for a pint in the Cherub Inn almost next door), and at reasonable prices.
The best authentic curry in Dartmouth with amazing friendly customer service !
Our first visit whilst on a delightful week in Dartmouth. If you are a fan of really well cooked Indian food, this is the place. They hold the secret (rarely discovered) of making utterly delicious curry WITHOUT using a gallon of ghee. I was delighted to find that the leftovers (always added to one carton for breakfast (yes, I so am that much of a spice junkie)) weren't sitting in a puddle of oil. So... Healthier than most, upper decile deliciousness, spectacular value for money.
Cant believe this place is rated 3.8 stars, had to give it 5 stars. We were 7 ppl and ordered a variety of curries, naans, and sides. Everything was delicious, couldnt fault it!
That lamb was melt in the mouth...
The food here was very good. I just had take away chicken madras, boiled rice and bombay aloo, accompanied by popadoms and a chilli naan. It was all cooked nicely and was very tasty. There was no oil or fat left on the plate from it either. Staff were very friendly. I would definately eat from hear again.
never eaten in the restaurant but have experience the takeaway food from this place and i dont think i'll ever visit Dartmouth without at least one evening while i'm there not eating there. amazing food
Reading the reiews for this place meant that we were a little trepidatious about visiting. We needn't have worried. All the food we had was excellent. It was hot, nicely spcied. well presented, and the serivce was efficient and profressional. We like it alot, and would happily go again.
In the heart of a quaint, quayside town next to the mouth of the River Dart lies a hidden diamond. The Taj Mahal experience began smoothly by friendly staff welcoming us into the establishment with smiles and kind words. Having already studied the menu prior to our visit, we sat down, keen to place our order and to sample the delights we were so eager for. We ordered a round of poppadoms and drinks. Sadly, and being frankly the one outstanding negative point of the experience, the poppadoms were slightly stale and chewy, and the accompanying chutneys were below standard and showed no hint of excitement or individuality. But then again, in the same breath, the pints of Cobra lager were very well kept; ice cold, crisp, fizzy and with a small, but pleasant head. When the main meals arrived, they were stationed on a candle burning bowl heater. The staff paid detailed attention to the various amendments and additional requests made by nearly every member of our party and every dish arrived at the table in the requested state. All dishes were very well received and we agreed unanimously that the portions were very satisfactory. The naan breads were hovering the procarious ground between crispy and fluffy, a culinary success! All of the tandoori meat was tender and juicy with clear evidence of it having being extensively marinated, with deep, red rings of spices penetrating almost to the centre. Service was fast and polite. We would recommend this establishment to any holiday maker in need of a refreshing hit of firey asian flavour when lost among a holiday destination with a vast abundence of traditional British cuisine. Great food, great atmosphere. Needless to say, we will be back...
Order a takeaway to be delivered at 7pm on a Friday night. Food was delivered in under 40 minutes. The 3 Currys we ordered had hardly any oil on them, were piping hot & were cooked fresh with crunchy veg & tender meat. Keema naan had whole slices of meat inside & one of the Currys was covered in fresh ginger & coriander. One of the best curries I've ever had.
Food improved through lockdown. And is now of a high quality as takeaway. Restaurant still shut so chefs able to focus on food.
