Best fish eaterie I know. love their tempura batter, it is so gorgeous and melt in the mouth. The fish is super fresh. Chips and curry sauce a must. Giant prawns expensive but more tasty than any prawns I have had. Lovely atmosphere overlooking the harbour. Very good service, particularly Mark the manager, and Todd the smiley waiter.

Went to the takeaway for gluten free fish and chips but was advised by a member of staff the food wasn't suitable for coeliacs. Was told to pop along to the restaurant and they would do me a take away which they did despite being very busy. I can honestly say it is the best gluten free fish and chips I have ever had and will now have to wait for a return visit to get the opportunity to eat there again. Fantastic Rockfish on behalf of us coeliacs!

Just enjoyed an amazing birthday meal in Dartmouth. The Green Thai mussels were the most delicious mussels I’ve ever tasted!! Highly recommended! Calamari, king prawns & mini crab cakes to share to start, then Amaretto crunch to finish. Delicious! Be back soon xx

Best fish and chips. Couldn't get in to Mitch Tonks upscale Seahorse here in Dartmouth but he (Mitch) suggested his "other" restaurant in this beautiful West Country town. Six of us dropped by for the tasty offerings of Fish and chips plus a couple of bottles of wine. Turned out to be a fu party at a reasonable price!

I opted for the red gurnard. It was delightful. The chips were superb as ever, the fish, served in light-battered crescents, was just right. The tartare sauce continues to be the best of its type I've ever eaten.

Very informative & helpful when I enquired about gluten free options. Waiter was very reassuring of my meal being gluten free once brought to our table. I even had a gluten free dessert. Also gave me a taster of wine before I decided which wine I had. 10/10 on every level. Well Done Rockfish Dartmouth.

Fantastic service especially from Alistair! It was a Sunday and weather was really good, we decided to stop by Rockfish to have some seafood, but we were advised at the door they are full and won't have any availability until at least an hour later, as we have booked the boat trip in around an hour's time, we won't be able to take the reservation, as we walked away feeling a bit disappointed, Alastair ran after us to tell us he had managed to get us a table, and as we sat down he told us regretfully that whilst he chased after us, someone has taken the free table and will be coming in half an hour! We were then prepared to leave for the 2nd time, Alastair then went off and came back to tell us he has managed to get us a table at the outside sitting area by the river, it was amazing table with fantastic view and there were live musicians performing too! Food came quickly and fresh! We had a fantastic time and really enjoyed our lunch! Alastair is an asset to the restaurant! Thank you for making our day!

Amazing food and service from Florence. 3 gluten free guests, no trouble at all for the chefs who catered for us all without issue. A complementary glass of bubbly for mums birthday treat was very kind of you and appreciated! Great seafood, wish we lived closer so we could eat there more regularly!! Highly recommend

We visited Rockfish for our anniversary dinner which was immediately asked about by the attentive staff, we had actually got engaged that morning and Hailey brought us over some complimentary Prosecco to celebrate. We had the menu thoroughly explained by Florence, who went through all the fresh fish options of the day. The food was delicious and everything we hoped it would be. Lovely staff, gorgeous food, a perfect anniversary meal, the lemon sole was the highlight dish for us ☺️

The food was really nice and tasty! We had straters, mains and dessert. Service was great - smiley and welcoming, with fast response to service. (Especially the young lady on the upper floor). We were touched by the gesture of the desert for my son's birthday!

Surprisingly nice - we thought it was a chain but it’s a very small one. Charming casual seaside vibe and extensive menu with lovely fresh choices. Lovely staff, though to be honest service was slow, if charming (one more team member would help). Excellent fresh local calamari, delicious silver mullet and top quality hake and chips, together with a new one on us - curry mushy peas: a triumph! Shame there was no draft beer but local cans pretty good option.

Great food, friendly staff, could have done with being away from the front door as we got chilled every time it opened, apart from that it was an enjoyable meal, would go again when the wind is warmer. Not sure if they serve dessert as non was offered.

Location: superb. Atmosphere: good but nothing special. Service: the waiter was very attentive and highlighted what fresh fish was available that day; also proactively ask whether we need some water for the table etc. Food: the chef/kitchen team here have done an amazing job, they have demonstrated how to executive simple dishes like pan-fried/chargrill fish really well. It was one of the best seafood/culinary experiences I have ever had in the UK. Would I recommend it? Yes definitely Would I return? Yes!

What a fantastic dinner! Excellent service - very friendly and helpful staff - and the food was really first-class. I had scallops followed by brill, my husband had mackerel followed by plaice fillets. All beautifully presented and tasted amazing. Loved the accompaniments - samphire and new potatoes. And the chips!!! Proper fish & chip shop chips, perfectly cooked and unlimited - you could order more if you wanted them. We didn’t as we were so full, but I wish I could have made room. This was a really, really good place to eat and we’ll definitely be back. Wish you’d open one in Brighton!

Excellent menu choice and the food itself did not disappoint. The hake was so fresh and delicious. Joanne who served us was attentive and cheerful. Booking is advisable as this place fills up quickly though we did drop in as soon as they opened and got a table. Just lovely!

My wife and I first went to Rockfish in Dartmouth over 10 years ago and loved it then. We’ve been a few times since (other sites as well) and it was the first place are out at when we stayed in Dartmouth last week. The food is still just as good, very fresh tasting and full of flavour. Service was great, we ended up going twice during our holiday. It was good to hear the shipping forecast still plays in the toilets! Looking forward to our next trip to Dartmouth which will definitely include a visit to Rockfish.

Thank you so much for making my Mum feel just that little bit extra special on Monday evening. I brought her down to Dartmouth for a couple of days to celebrate her 80th birthday and she had the most amazing time. Her first time at Dartmouth and I wanted her to experience what a special place it is. Your lovely restaurant did not disappoint with amazing and friendly service and very delicious food (we had the brill). Looking forward to coming back again soon.

Loved it. Will go again ASAP. Haddock and chips was great, I had a special: grilled Hake fillet with samphire and chips, wonderful. Simple food beautifully cooked and delightfully served by a young local team right on the river front. Brilliant!

Had an unexpectedly great meal at Rockfish last night. What do you get if you combine the freshest fish and seafood with deep fat frying techniques...you get Rockfish and the experience is excellent. My wife started with the “Half Pint of Norwegian Prawns”, which she loved, and I had the tempura prawns, which were as good as tempura gets outside Japan...so pretty damn good. I followed that with fresh Brill, served in all its buttery glory, and my wife had the turbot....these dishes were winners as the fish was so fantastically fresh...probably just out of the sea that day and the preparation let the freshness shine through. There is nothing quite like fresh fish prepared simply. We got a side order of mushy peas with curry sauce too - these were fantastic but completely unnecessary...even if you don’t like mushy peas though, the addition of the curry sauce makes them absolutely delicious. The onion rings are worth mentioning also - pickled onions deep fried in the most delicious batter...this is a combination that I have never seen elsewhere and we pretty much inhaled them. If there is one thing I recommend here, it is the onion rings. Overall, this is a restaurant that buys the very freshest ingredient and then prepares them in a way that lets the flavours shine. To call it fish and chips seems, in a way, like a mild insult...but it really is fabulous fish & chips and Rockfish are clearly very proud of it, as they should be. We enjoyed our meal tonight more than we did the Michelin-recommended restaurant just down the street, where we ate the night before for 3 times the price. That speaks volumes.

The friendly and helpful staff welcomed us warmly, and quickly had us helped with drinks. The menu was good, the food was delicious, and the recommended wine was also delicious, and complimented our food. No room for dessert, but not an inspiring dessert menu. Definitely will be back!
