Honestly one of the best Sunday roasts I've had. Beautiful made food. The fishcake was lovely. The roast beef was delicious, portion size was amazing and the horseradish was so good. I had to squeeze in a pudding because why not? And that was awesome too. Finished with a walk along the river. Will be back.

Fourth time we've been to Badgers Holt. Nearly didn't go due to bad reviews since new owners have been there but as always, decided to make our own minds up. Glad we did! We had a cream tea for two which was a large, fresh, homemade scone each, jam, clotted cream and a pot of tea with extra water. Staff and service friendly and efficient and when it arrived we were immediately told that we could have more jam and cream if we wanted it. (We didn't though as there was plenty) The reasoning behind this is because they were throwing away too much by serving larger portions. Shame more restaurants don't adopt the same idea. (I hate waste!) The cost was £10 for us both which is pretty good for what we got. As we left, we could see other meals being served and they looked VERY good. Fresh and generously sized. I really don't get why some people said portions are small. Maybe this is why more and more people in the U.K. are becoming obese! All in all it's a lovely place to visit. One of the prettiest beauty spots we've ever been to. Can't wait to go back when the new owners have finished their plans with the place which includes better enclosures for animals and next time we'll plan to have lunch there too. Well done! 😄👍🏻

The new owners have worked hard to bring this lovely place back to life and it's a real pleasure to see how nice they have made it. The food is very good and the reworked restaurant is delightful. The outside is coming along nicely too! I'll be back.

I have been visiting Badgers Holt since I was a child growing up in Tavistock and now, 40 years later, I am still visiting and my own teenage daughter loves it herself. It is a beautiful location to spend some time by the river, and then to have one of their legendary cream teas afterwards. Scone cake, cream and jam by the banks of the river - just bliss. Badgers Holt is under new ownership and on our visit the signs of refurbishment were clear, although despite that service was happy, friendly, chatty and very quick. To me it looks like they are modernising and making what has always been good even better - just so long as they don't change that cream tea!

Roast lamb was one of the most flavoursome I have had in some time. Staff very attentive, and wife pleased to have a delicious vegetarian roast on offer rather than the normal pasta option! All round excellent, will be back again.

Vegan friendly! Keep it up guys! Nice to see businesses taking advice of the community and bringing in a vegan option!

Lovely spot for lunch. I had homemade bread cheese toastie with local Devon Cheese & husband has the scone wedge with plenty of jam & cream - we were told to ask for more it needed (which it wasn't). The new owners are working hard on making Badgers Holt a success and I wish them all the luck in the world! We will be going back for cream teas as they are baked in their onsite bakery and the children loved playing in the stream.

We had done friends down and wanted them to have a cream tea. It's the 1st place we have been that has offered a vegan cream tea, with coconut cream, as well as traditional cream teas and gluten free cream teas. The jam was delicious and everyone said the scones were amazing. The gluten free scone was certainly light and fluffy. A great place for a cream tea. It was also fun watching the antics of the peacocks and the goats.

Always cheerful staff and owners with an absolutely beautiful location right beside the river. They have a decent menu and cakes and they use a lot of locally sourced food. Gluten free, vegan and veggie normally an option too. Also peacocks, goats and chickens happily puttering around! Its a great stop for lunch, no phone service for your mobile and normally okay parking. This time their parking was shut so we had to park in the paid parking outside which is ample. It did involve a nice, flat walk up the drive to get there. They also have brilliant covid precautions in place, spread tables, masks and hand washing stations...oh and if you need the toilet their toilets are lovely.

Gorgeous place to have tea or lunch and such lovely staff. U can just sit relax and take in the most beautiful surroundings. Beware though as animals are roaming free like the cheeky peacocks, who liked the lettuce from my salad, he and i came to an arrangement, letuce for a few of his beautifully shed feathers.

This is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. Such an idilic spot and they stayed open past closing for me on a Saturday which was a good send. Also really good earl grey tea and a generous amount of it too.

Super cute little area with good food. We went through here and decided to go in for lunch because it was no detour at all on our route. There is free parking by the restaurant. We ordered our food and took a walk on the rocks in the river until it was done. Absolutely magical place!

After a hike this restaurant/café is very convenient. The service was very good as was the food. We arrived after the lunch service so we only had sandwiches. So, we will have to go back to see how the cooked food is.

Lovely scones, freshly baked with a nice portion of jam and cream. Close to the river and peacocks roaming round. Great location for lunch. Only downside it was slightly expensive.

Had a great lunch after a nice circular walk to Laughter Tor and Bellever Tor, good service, my wife had the ploughman's lunch with dude of rocket and marinated olives, all very nice, and I tried the Devon burger, plenty of flavours and not fatty at all. Nice to be able to enjoy it alfresco too, alongside the river dart.

Day out on the Moor stopped off for a coffee at Badgers Holt, what an idyllic setting ...lots of parking, walked to the cafe, lots of outdoor seating and what looked to be plenty of indoor seating as well, we had a ham hock panni and the home made tomato and basil soup both very good.. and pots of tea .. nice quick service, beautiful location and and friendly peasant wandering about ...what more could you want 😁

Lovely food in an idyllic location by the River Dart. Really nice to have several peacocks calling and displaying around the site! Unfortunately their calls seemed to trigger a cacophony of dog barking and yapping from visitors dogs. Baguettes and baked potato were very well presented and tasty.

Awesome, rainy day walking so much needed respite from the rain. Excellent vegan options, and delicious! Amazing friendly staff, and very clean facilities. Can't wait to go again.

A very pleasant spot to sit by a babbling brook in a Dartmoor beauty spot, of eat inside in a clean bright coffee house, with a simple but tasty menu. Very pretty surroundings. Takes well behaved dogs outside, tables, peacocks wandering!
